Probably more than a thousand dollars worth of fine tools. Excellent work. How many spoons would need to be made to justify cost of tools? Just an honest question from a practical person.
That knockdown froe and sheath is one of the most practical and cool tool innovations I've seen in years. I hope you can keep them in stock until I'm ready to buy one!
Bonjour John.Excellent travail comme d'habitude en réalisation comme en explications. Le rendu est magnifique. Merci beaucoup pour ce partage et la description de la machine cnc.Bon week-end de Pâques. A BIENTÔT ANTONY.
That is exactly some of the craft I have worked my way into for some time by now, since a few years before Covid. I have a fair amount of kitchen utensiles completed with a naked blade only. Nothing is quite so satisfying. I see the same sort of raw connection to the wood in your axe and knife work. It feels honest, a genuine expression of a skill with a very simple and primal tool/weapon - used on wood, a most noble medium. Very interesting video, I learned a lot on my first listen and I'll likely come back to it again. Слава.

Birch is such a pleasant wood to carve. I’ve enjoyed making a few spoons from it, but it’s not common where I live, so I’m often stuck with oak, maple, walnut, and cherry. They are beautiful woods, especially for bowls, but often so very hard. Birch may not be my choice for bowls, but great for spoons. I’d like to give it a try for a bowl sometime too. Great video and beautiful spoon. Love the design.
From the look of the wood , it hadn’t been much time before that tree fell , the wood was very green , what a lucky score . I have a non bearing plum tree that needs to be felled in my front yard , it’s probably 28 years old & over the winter with the snow & rain , it cracked & split the trunk of the tree & now it’s slowly starting to die off , when I come a cross someone who has a chain saw I plan to harvest a lot of its wood for projects . I’d like to make a coffee mug , a flat spatula , & cooking spoon & a curved spatula . I’d wish I had somewhere to store the rest of the wood because it’s a excellent hard wood & great for fires , it burns very clean with very little charcoal next to none .non bearing & bearing fruit trees are excellent for making any utensils or dinnerware out of because the don’t carry pathogens , just some good sanding a wash with clean water , let dry & a thick coat of food grade mineral oil on them & they,ll last a life time , plus they have a pretty color when oil is used with them .
I'd be interested in giving those tools a try, they look well made, though I do have some concerns about a few details. A bigger concern is showing carving on one's thighs on UA-cam. Yes, it might be safe if you are experienced, but it goes well against the blood triangle rule and people will emulate it. It should not be necessary to do and show this or should come with a big, fat warning imo.
This guys pretty manly. We got the blues music and he had axes and stuff with leather. He also had a beard and made something from a tree. Alas no whiskey or beer though. 8/10
Прям от души, великолепное видео, просто эстетическое удовольствие, и инструменты шикарные и руки мастеровые, видно и опыт есть хороший. Удачи, творчества, здоровья, гармонии с самим собой и с окружающим миром!
Beautiful, but my father: grandfather, & all of my uncles would have beat the snot out of me for drawing that blade towards myself! It will cut going away just as well! All in all, that is a very impressive job!
You know, this was an interesting video and the tools and craftsmanship are most excellent … good stuff. I also understand that dialogue free content is _de rigueur_ these days; it’s the IKEA assembly document of UA-cam… no translation, etc., but neither is there any sense of thought processes of an artist - we are left only with inference and that is enhanced or limited by the skill of the videography and editing.

Would have been nice to see the detail happening in sharp focus. Spielberg used much too much focus on chips and distant artsy shots. Finished product looked good, but getting to it was a bad ride…😕
I disagree with your comment. Obviously it is meant to be a video to entertain, with different camera shots, random cat, and tools all neat and organized. It's meant to look pretty and entertain foe a couple minutes. There are different videos for those that want to learn how to carve. They are good for what they do but are often far less entertaining, and far more educational
Rubbish comment. Did most of the work with an axe. Finished it up with some basic carving knives. Put a lot of work into presentation, with editing and filming, and even work place. Yes the cat is there just to get a few views, but the whole video was well made.
Hello from Eagle River, Alaska. WOW another great video, thanks for sharing how you make it step by step. Un vero lavoro d'arte, bellissimo!
Love a person who knows how to take care of tools! And knows how to use them! Beautiful work!
Thanks 🙏
It is such a joy to hear the sound of a very sharp blade slicing into the birch. Well done, sir! Very well done!
Thank you 🤝
Great video have bought quite a few of your tools on Etsy and I love them thanks from Michigan in the united states

Great craftsmanship and videography. I would love to see your process of sharpening those tools. Excellent.

Those tools/knives are so well made/sharp, it's like watching you carve clay....enjoyed your guest star too
Ein wundervoll schönes Video. Man bekommt gleich lust etwas zu arbeiten. Liebe Grüße Gerry
Wow - some sharp tools there!
This is the way it was done for centuries; working with the natural grain of the wood.
That's why things didn't break, unlike today.
the master is like a magician who knows how to work beautifully! I watched it with pleasure, I want to dive into this craft too!!!

The pleasure of using fine tools…to cook with! I feel a pot of French lentil soup coming on.
That was seriously beautiful to watch
The edge on your tools is awesome, and what a quality product at the end.
Thank you 🙌

Fine work. Bravo.
Masterful carving. Subscribed.
👍👍💪way not only a master carver you are but you can see in side of the wood. I was impressed with how sharp you keep your tools.
Such a nice ad.
great video very calm and peaceful, i like having these videos in the background, more sounds from carving would be cool though
Thank you 😊🤝
Beautiful work. Fantastic videography, music, and tools!
Beautifully crafted!

That spoon is elegant, I have many cooking spoons which job is it recommended for? Sauce? A less elegant one would be used for baking.

Geez, none of my spoons ever turn out like that LOL Awesome workmanship, you make it look so easy
yes this is really a great master!!
I'm a UK woodturner & there are no failures in this house, However, I do have some pretty fancy firewood.
Great work great looking tools.
Magnifique 🤩
Nice spoon. Any issues with rust on your tools from not toweling them off or oiling before resheathing? That green wood moisture gets everywhere 😊

What kinda wood?
Hi, what do you think about "Svante Djärv Carving Axe Little 0,8 kg"; I'm a beginner and I just buy it.

that was a cool spoon knife.
Thanks 🙌

My guess is fresh out of film school.
There are some great shots, but yeah, it's overkill. This definitely needed more static shots.
Yup. Hope nobody gets motion sick. Gotta dial it back just a bit.
I wonder if this was filmed by Kenneth Lonergan...

What push/pull saw did u use at the first of the video?
I think that he used a Silky Big Boy arborist saw. I have one in my kit and it looks like the artists.

Omg, too much hipster editing ethetics for a video with man making a spoon. Nonetheless, great skill (at carving, not video editing😅). 👍🏻
Birch. Of course.

That spoon wouldn’t have lasted very long in my mother’s kitchen because she used to whack me on the head with them when I pissed her off.
