FINALLY! A decent informative video on this plant, thank youuu!
I bought one yesterday and I love it, thank you for all the information ❤️🥰😩
Just picked up my baby. The cashier “oh she’s special.. let’s see the price to see just how special... you must be a green thumb?” Haha uhm I’m ahem trying 😂
Haha love that
This comes at a perfect time!!! I got a philodendron birkin about a month ago and I was feeling tempted to give it some direct light to encourage variegation 😅
Perfect timing! So glad I could help :)
I just bought one today, and i’m pretty excited and scared at the same time 😂 thanks for the tips! Hopefully mine will survive the rainy WA State weather 🤞🏼
You got this!!
The first helpful video I’ve watched. Seeing you use your moisture meter was extremely helpful. You’ve gained a subscriber. 😊 Thank you!
Aww yay thank you so much and welcome to the good growing fam! Glad that I could help
Thank you for this! I found one in a huge pot in my moms yard. It was planted alongside another plant and when I asked her about it she said she didn’t know what it was. I repotted it in a smaller pot by itself and then brought it inside because the poor leaves were scorched. Its a very light green like the new leaf your has, and It’s in the rehab process right now 😂 thank you so much for this video cause I had no idea what the plant was or how to care for it 😭
Ah that's amazing! Good luck with the rehab! :)
bought one today at Lowes! Very excited to learn about it
ahhh super exciting!
AHA I JUST BOUGHT ONE & CAME STRAIGHT HERE ✨🥺 thank you emma ✨✨

I just bought mine today in my local Lidl for 5 €, so of course I'm binge watching every video I can find on this plant :D yours is my favourite so far, thank you so much for an informative, comprehensive and entertaining guide!

Very informative video, keep it up 👍
Just picked up an unlabeled “assorted foliage” plant at my local plant shop, turns out, it’s a baby Birkin! Can’t wait to watch it grow, and see what it becomes, such and interesting plant💚
Just copped one. Very cool!

Hope you enjoy it!
New subscriber, I love love your white head pot, unique and classy goes well with your Birkin!!!
Aww thank you
Great video, thanks!
Thank you very much. It was really helpful.
My philodendron birkin's two new leaves dried and dropped because I was keeping it in direct sunlight.
I finally purchased one today! 👏🏾
love your presentation ,pots and I will go out to buy that plant.
this plant has been on my dream list for quite a while, but they were always a little more than i was willing to spend because they were always sold in awful ceramic cover pots (with no drainage holes) that drive prices up. well today, i go to home depot and there they are, only 15 dollars!!!! (still in a bad cover pot but plastic) and i could NOT pass it up. i have tons of other houseplants but i wanted some more background on the care of this beautiful guy so thank you for the video!! my new friend is going to spend some time out on my porch to dry out until i have time to repot it in about a week.
Just want you to know that the second you said “I’m getting ahead of myself” I dropped what I was doing to hit subscribe. I love you already.
Hahaha thanks! Welcome to the good growing family
Thank you for this video you are growing your plant like I Am growing mine............. the dif is I give it 4 to 3 hrs of sun, it stays at a corner when on my days off work I know it is limited light, it likes moisture so I use foil paper.
i got my birkin for £10 last july, which was such a steal considering i keep hearing about how they're only just becoming popular. At first it was just another plant i'd picked up, and just lived on my desk with not much attention at all. Now I've really noticed it and how much it's grown, it's one of my favourites, they really are so easy to look after! The leaves tend to tell me when it's thirsty by drooping so that's handy.
Ah that's a steal!!
I bought one recently and watered its leaves by using a mist spray, but I didn't water the soil much. I just noticed the leaves are drooping by a decent amount and I just watered the soil until it didn't look dry anymore, will the droopy leaves fix themselves or will they stay droopy even after being watered?
I've had mine in bathroom for almost a year....it loves it, because I haven't had no problems and it growing bigger
Hi, I love you and thank you for your tips 🥰
Aww thank you! No problem, always glad to help ;)
I am getting one of these soon! They are so pricey in my area. I'm also a new plant parent so I'm hoping I can take care of this plant well :)
Ooh exciting! I'm sure you'll do fine :) good luck!
like your style and pace
Aww thank you :)
Wow! My new fav. Plant person (I’m unsure of your pronouns & don’t want to offend you) thank you so much for this video I have been struggling-ish with this plant.
Aww you're so sweet! Thanks for checking on my pronouns. I go by she/her :) so glad I could help! I'm always around on IG if you ever want specific advice
Lots of good info about the Birkin. May I ask, your grow lights are they replaceable in the goose neck attachment? What are they called please. Thank you
Does anyone know how to reverse damages of overwatering this plant??? Ive already lost like 4 leaves and id live to save it lol.... I also have it right in front of window should i move it away from the window?
Started watching this 3 days ago, kept having to pause and come back lol excited for my philodendron Birkin that I just got. Any soil recommendations as far as type that may be more successful for this plant?
ahh very exciting! I mix my own soil for philodendrons with a mix of coco coir, worm castings, perlite, and orchid bark
Great info!
What type of grow lights do you use. Mine are in the bathroom.
I bought one from Home Depot about a month ago. I love it but it’s my first plant. This video was very informative. What are your thoughts about misting the leaves?
Ooh very exciting! I go back and forth on misting. I think it can be helpful if the mist is very fine and doesn't pool on the leaves. It will prevent dust from settling and minimally increase humidity. If you're misting to boost humidity, maybe try a pebble tray instead or a mini humidifier!
The pot is soooo cute!
Thanks! It's one of my faves
learned much. I bought my first philodendron today...was wondering how often you have to give fertilizer?
I usually fertilise once or twice a month in the spring and summer
Just watched this because ive just gotten a varigated boy 😍hes delicious, thanks for the tips henny! 😍 mine has pink on it aswell ive just noticed was compairing the colours 😂 what does this mean?
Yeah it's normal for them to have pink on them too :) enjoy it!
Just found your channel & I LOVE IT!!! You are awesome! I love when you said over watering it isn't how much water you give it its how many times you water it. I NEEDED to learn that I was so curious about not giving it too much water at each watering because I didn't want to 'over water it' so THANK YOU SO MUCH for that tip! Thank you!!!! I love how you explain plant care 😀🥰😁 much love from nj!
Aww hi and welcome! I'm so glad you're enjoying my videos
Hey, what’s that plant in the white and tan pot behind you on the left?
that's a green maranta
I got one about 3 weeks ago and some of the leaves are curling and turning brown. I have it in a bright room on top of my hermit crab tank for the extra warmth.
Seems like too much light,
Mine reverted indeed into a plant with normal green leaves, but they seem lighter then rojo congo (the one you mentionned as the "original" non variageted plant). Can you help me, lady halfmoon ?
The Birkin is gorgeous, But girl that pot is the Sh*t!! I freakin love it. I know you got it where you live. If you didn’t can I please have the link. I love how the Birkin sits in the pot. It makes him look like he got an expensive hair do.
Haha thanks! I found it on H&M home.. Not sure if it's available in all areas/anymore but have a look!
My face when you said "they're pretty slow growing", haha. I wish! My Birkin grows like a weed, I can't keep up
That's great! I'm quite envious!
My philodendron birkin keeps pushing out white leaves and before they even unfurl, they wilt and die and snap off, why does this happen pls can someone help? :(
Are those indoor plants lights in the back, really useful? where did you get them?
Yes they're grow lights. I do like them and I think my plants do too. They're linked in my amazon storefront, so have a look there :)
Where did you buy the face pot from?
This one is from h&m home
Any suggestions for mulching? I have added a very light layer of slate on top to ensure the soil stays moist for longer and I can space out the waterings.
I have never mulched my houseplants tbh... didn't know that was a thing for indoor ones
Topdressing
@@GoodGrowing Small update; the birkin liked it but I took it off for the spring/summer because I am trying to do bottom watering for them now. Thank you for the response!
Hiii:) how much water should I put? My Pot is about the same size as yours!
water until the soil is fully saturated and let it drain out. don't let it sit in a puddle of water after watering
My plant has lots green leaves at bottom and right in top very little white lines, middle the big leaves have more white. Is this all healthy ? What should I do cause I want more white lines
The best way to increase the white lines (variegation) is to increase the light. Their ideal is bright indirect light so if you can give it many hours of that a day, it will be happy
My local grocery store has started selling these for 6.99 would you say that is a good price / worth it? I love the look of them, even reverted
go for it!
How often do we water it or is it strictly up to how dry the dirt is? This is my first live plant I am stressing. 😩
I just got one and its my first too... 😫
I go based off the soil wetness. If you go off of a time based schedule, you could be watering more frequently than the plant wants. Especially as it takes longer to dry out in autumn and winter than in spring and summer.
I just repotted mine and I’m afraid it might be going through some shock, but before I repotted it, it had brown crispy edges as well as some soggy yellowing and goo. The leaves will just fall right off of the stem. Any ideas? (it was a neglected Walmart plant)
Most likely overwatering from it's time at walmart. It probably has root rot already. how were the roots looking when you repotted? also feel free to DM me some pics. I may be better able to help then
I've had my Berlin for about 6 months.....and the leaves are great but small
6:05 propagation........ that's what we're here for !
"i feel like I only need one of these"
uh, nope! lol. i live in the sub-tropics and these babies are going to be my new (non-climbing) favourite. they *will* multiply. also I paid $30 for my first one so she needs to give me some babies....
I went out grocery shopping and came back about 2 hours later to find my birkin drooping... I watered it about a week ago and the top soil is still a little wet, maybe it's not liking the damp soil?
Oh no! Have a good look for pests, that could also be the cause of the drooping. Might be worth repotting in some drier soil and having a look at the roots in the meantime. If any are squishy and black, remove them
Don’t worry, it’s a super easy plant. If you already get along with a Monstera or any Philodendron, you’ll be fine.
Care is exactly the same.
Bought mine a good year ago here in Germany and now it produces totally white leaves.
That’s a common problem with adult Birkins because they’re man and lab made.
The plant is beautiful and fun, but it’s a unstable „Sci Fi Plant“. That’s why you’ll find no pictures of huge Birkins.
They will die sooner than later.
Love the pot. Where did you get it from
It's from H&M home
Thank
I've been thinking about getting a Birken, maybe this spring or summer. Love your head pots!
Yes do it!! Thanks me too
Mine got roortrot after the first watering. I think it was the soil that was too compact. I just got another one and I am almost scared of watering her.
oh no! I try to only water when mine is pretty dry. Maybe get a moisture meter and check up on it with that
My Birkin is getting three new leaves, but since 2 weeks I would say, they are just stuck. I don’t know what’s wrong, no pests or something 😫
This happened to me but for months instead of weeks. I found out my roots were rotted /:
Can I put it outside in a shaded area? 😯
Potentially but it really depends on the climate where you live. And you'll have to be super careful that it gets no direct sun as it will burn
Mine has a new leaf unfurling, it’s going to be really striped, but my goodness they grow slow. I’m used to other philodendrons, my burkins leave has been unfurling for literally months!!!
Yeah I find they do grow much slower than many of my other philos. 🤷🏻♀️
What a pot!
Thanks! It's one of my faves!
Thanks girl mine is turning brown and I’m struggling
Mine too and I just bought it!
Oh no! I hope you can save it
Please tell me where I can get a philodendron Burle Marx for an affordable price 😆 love your potters!
Oof I'm not too sure... I find getting rare plants for affordable prices can be tough... maybe try fb marketplace or houseplant groups?
Try OfferUp or Craigslist !!
I just got one today at Lowes hardware for 19.99.
@@TKOin2life Wow that's an amazing price!
What about any pest problems
I find it easier to treat a pest based off the pest itself rather than the plant it's on. If you're looking for info on fungus gnats or thrips, I have individual videos talking about how I dealt with those.
I always keep mine moist cuz she s drama queen when she doesnt get enough watering. Her leafs just start dying off 🫠
Mine has no variegation 😔
Mine keeps growing new leaves but they don’t unfurl all the way and just end up stuck. Anyone else experience this?
I experienced that when mine had thrips. Have you checked for pests?
Just got one for $9 at Costco! 😊
Amazing deal!
@Sophia oh no! I know the feeling though, I see people pick up plants that I have to spend a fortune to get lol
What?! I can't eat them? 😢
I SAW SOME BIRKIN AT WALMART FOR UNDER 20$!!!!!
OMG that's a stealll! Walmart coming in clutch!
I got mine for $12 at Home Depot!!!
Took me a few seconds to get the head joke...😏
hehe ;)
The fact that you didn’t call it a “pothead”
Missed opportunity!!
Omg you're right 😂
I bought this cutie for 5 dollars 😀😌😌
What a steal!
@@GoodGrowing In Nepal plants are not thattt expensive 😌
@@vishazakhatiwada388 I'm very jealous!
@@GoodGrowing Visit Nepal once in a life time.Very beautiful place with lot of natural beauty and plants. We welcome you❤️
@@vishazakhatiwada388 Ah I'd love to!!
I killed mine 😐
Oh no! What happened?
I think it died because I had it on a pot without drainage so maybe overwatering I don’t know 🤷🏻♀️
@@gvazquez4655 ah yes that'll do it! They really need the drainage
Please don't encourage using peat
