WOW!!!! My oldest brother is a USMC Vietnam vet 68/69. Unfortunately his health has been less than perfect for the last 2 years. I've been trying to get together everything to build him a replica of his, "girlfriend," he carried back then. I'd love to have it together his next birthday in September. I've been all over the internet and was really surprised by so many posts/opinions I found about the M16A1 and what types of parts were used. I know I'll never be able to make an exact duplicate of his but if you could possibly steer me in some directions I would be forever grateful. (Sights, stock, sling rings, ect.) I have came across some parts I'd love to use but unfortunately I'm not independently wealthy, if you catch my drift. Thanks for the great video!
It can be pricey and the old parts kits keep going up. I would check out a website call what a country. That's where we got the parts kit. Just buy a little over time, you will get there.
@@LibertyMarksmanUSA Thanks for the response and the lead. I'll check them out. I know I won't be able to build it exactly like the original but it's not like he's gonna use it in Southeast Asia either. LOL Chances are he'll be tickled just having it mounted on his wall. Thanks again, Steve Adams
Good to see you'se guys . I was afraid you gave up on UA-cam . That replica rifle looks awesome ! Although it seems funny to see one of the early ones in that good of shape . Like anything , it's only new once .
Thank you. It started as a Vietnam era parts kit that we got from what a country. It was kind beat up, but after a clean and a coat of Duracoat it came out awesome.
Was just looking at the Liberty Marksman sticker on my car the other day and wondering “gee I havent seen anything from those two in a while...” Glad to see you guys back in action!
@@LibertyMarksmanUSA doing good, got a new job and it's a long drive but worth it. Dont think I'll do anything more with my youtube channel, though. They pulled the rug out from under me with the policies they put in place. You guys holding up ok?
@@NoTimeForThatNow glad to hear you got a job you like. I drive far as well but it's worth it. I understand where you're coming from. We have had some bumps with the tube, but we decided to carry on till they tell us to go away.
Lol😂 do you want to talk about a complete turnaround. I just got a pair and installed them from Tony's customs and their great! You guys were right they are thicker stronger they don't rattle around at all they don't make any noise they're firm they don't squish under your hands it's nearly a perfect fit out of the Box. Every Line closes about ninety-nine percent and that's good enough for me. The rest of my rifle has all original furniture on it but I actually put these in place of the original usgi handguards just because of the above stated reasons.
I’m making me a set of these for a mid length barrel. Nobody makes them, so I’m cutting down a set of full size to make them fit. I’m about halfway done. I’m hoping they turn out good.
Cool 😎 stuff I would like to change out my hand guards on my beast master M-4 carbine to the original Vietnam 🇻🇳 issue hand guards Anda also change out retractable stock back to the original stock ,please let me know where I can buy them from, I live in Jackson Ms.thankyou
Wow, it's been awhile, guys fell off the grid.. Lol... Good Stuff, been looking around for the same handguards on my build, Brownells was the only one that comes close...
I bought a set of those and really didn't like how thick they were and how sharp the vent hole edges are. I put them on my dissipator instead of my m16 clone. Still not a bad set of handguards otherwise.
I have a question - I checked out Tony’s custom and noticed they are for 20” barrels. I’m fairly new and have bought all the parts to assemble my first two (of the same) rifles. Going for the A1. Unfortunately I bought 18” barrels from Daniel defense and realized it after the fact. Would these handguards work on an 18” barrel?
Those are great and I would love a pair of probably going to buy a set. But for originality sake they are supposed to have that space in between the teeth and have that sponginess to them that's just the way they were made back then. So if you're going for actual authenticity is close to possible the really good condition Surplus that is the way to go. But if you're looking for a shooter this is most likely the way to go.
Duracoat? why not do it in Elisco finish which was exported from the Philippines to Israel and the Iran- Contra scandal. Or build the Dissipator Government Arsenal (Bataan) model
Hey guys!!! Glad to see you're back!!! Bakelite is what old style house phones were made of. It has built in flexability for long term function. Looks good! No three prong flash hider?

Are these easy to put on the rifle?? Being u have to interlock them...
Will Tony's handguards fit over a hbar barrel?
Do they have a the barrel nut assembly for these Vietnam era handguards? Mine doesn’t let it grab the back of the handguards, to big

Lol something like that.

Might work if it has a rifle length gas system. Mid length would be to short. Good luck with your build.
Can i install picatiny rail hand gaurd at my m16A1
Only if you drill and screw it. But that would be an abomination.

Hey guys would they fit on a smith n wesson MP 15 sport ????
It would need to
A) have a rifle length gas system
B) have a delta ring or install one
C) have a triangular handguard cap behind the gas block

The M14 is very nice, but crazy expensive
Some folks are born, made to wave the flag
They bleed red, white and blue!
The one from Brownell's is flimsy and cheap.
I have heard that.
@@LibertyMarksmanUSA can i use this handguard on my m-16a2 barrel?
Zytel, not Bakelite
