Nice video, I got a question! Have they changed the cannons lately? I used to be really REALLY good at cannons, but now I completely lost it. this transition was less than 2 month ago.
@@zuperbomz I don’t know of any cannon changes, however servers have been more unstable lately than usual and the stuttering/desync will throw your cannon up and down significantly.
@@liger0000 Could be that also. Idk.. just one day I completely lost the aim. It used to be pretty good. I also quit using the blunder buss due to the heavy hitreg, so might be just what your saying.
@@zuperbomz also one thing I notice about my aim personally is that since I’ve been running so much galleon lately my sloop cannons are garbage. So make sure you get comfortable per ship type. Also cannoning is very much a rhythm skill similar to shooting a basketball. So find out what helps you get into a good rhythm whether it’s music or something else.
Really nice video, yet I have a questions about cannons, or rather holes and hitboxes. Where do the holes appear depending on where you hit, and how much does it influence the size of the hole in the hull? Hence the bigger the hole the longer the repair time. And how much damage can you inflict with one cannon ball? Can you damage more than one part?
I think you should’ve mentioned the effects that cannonballs have on each section of the ship. I’ve been playing with a couple guys recently that had no idea they needed to shoot different parts of the ship, or that shooting the same spot causes up to tier 3 holes and then no more in that spot. They viewed the enemy ship as a health bar instead of individual parts to form the whole
That’s a good point and probably something older players overlook. I sort of go in depth on tiers of holes in my bilge guide but I do appreciate the input!
Just found your channel and I must say as someone trying to get into pvp your guides really are a step above the rest. Nothing against the big creators but the level of depth you go into is very helpful.
A lot of their guides are more general and that helps a broader audience which is definitely a good thing but after a while those basic tips become common knowledge. Glad you enjoyed the video!

11:20 you should definitely do a curse cannon ball guide. This guide was amazing imo
Blunder Bombs are also very good for offsetting the opponents cannon angle as the blast will nudge the ship when hit in the front and/or back. This generally works from any angle as well.
I'd really like to see a ghost ball video. you are not only very knowledgeable but got a good narration voice. I'd listen to your tutorials all day. Well worded, short and to the point, but also very in depth.

Great video, thanks! If you ever do a part 2, it would be helpful to include how directional waves affect cannon accuracy (ie you are at a distinct disadvantage firing shots moving in a northwest direction). Also, would be helpful to see how blunderbombs alter a ships course and the differences when shot at the front vs the back.

@@liger0000 I'll definitely try to use it, hopefully surviving. I like the matrix reference. It makes sense with following the cannonball through the air. Wish my pirate could do the actual matrix dodge, while keeping on cannons 😅
My friend knows I’m trying to get better at using cannons, so he sent me this and holy cow it’s my favorite cannon video so far. We’ve also been going after skeleton ships. I finally got around to watching and this is so useful and I’m excited to try it out next time I’m on the game

Good luck with MC! Super fun role. One tip I forgot to mention is you can use the enemy cannon trails as reference for your shots. So for example if they are hitting you, you can just immediately match their arc and you should be hitting. Same thing with matching team mates arcs.

Here's a little tip for efficient cannon usage. Try to line you boat up so that your left cannons are the ones you use instead of your right. This is so you can quickly turn to the cannon ball barrel and reload quicker instead of having to get off the cannon go to the barrel and run back to the cannon.
Only downside is that it's a little longer of a trip to wheel
Or load up two storage crates full of cannon balls and place one by each cannon. That way, no matter which ones you're using, all you have to do is look down then back up and you're ready to fire again. No walking required

#1 tip I have is to just always send shots even if you think you can’t hit them(if you have the supplies for it)

Just remember everyone was where you are at one point, just keep practicing and don’t be scared to sink.

Glad you liked it, there are a few things I left out that could be added but the video would have been 30min+
Two more helpful tips I can give is 1. For long shots if your teammate is hitting you can just immediately match their arc, this also works with the enemy ships cannons if they hit you, you can match their arc. 2. Something to help against the blunder meta is if you stand away from the cannon while holding a blunder/cannon you can load the cannon.
@@liger0000 Wait what? how do you match arc? my helm has been putting me in fights from very long distances and I usually lose bc I'm not great at dialing in, and my W/L ratio is really high so we only really go against really good players... if I could match their shots it would help a lot
@@hoplul if they are shooting too high, shoot under their arc, if they are low shoot over theirs. It will take some time doing this for you to get to the point where you don’t have to think about it too much.

please do a video on the cursed balls. this was a great reference.
Another thing is if you are on a downwave and need to aim your cannon very high just to hit the enemy ship its not worth doing because the reajustment can make you lose cannon pressure. You need to keep line of sight with the enemy ship to make sure that you aren't getting one balled or that they haven't turned out of broad.

is there somewhere i can find an actual picture of the pirates hitbox? looked everywhere but couldnt find one
The only way I know to test this is to somehow get somebody that is on another boat and test the hit box using a sniper/pistol or cannons. Keep in mind all pirates regardless of size have the same hit box as well.
I got slightly more adcvanced with the cannons by doing Ghostfleets.
Those are great for practice, and they’re not super tough so newer players can get a feel for it quick.

Yep, if you really wanna get good then practice cannons while going North West. The waves are much worse so you really gotta get used to timing your shots.

apparently my settings were put on 1.25 speed. and honestly it was the perfect speed. I don't know if it was just relative because that's how I started the video but switching it to normal sounded a little slow so I just kept it at 1.25 hahaha. anyone who's trying to get in depth on this whole video but save a couple minutes, just a heads up, its not rushed at that speed.

@@emanuelecamagna1726 So every team plays differently but here are the main roles I’d usually have as bilge. Lower repairs and water, if no lowers I would always be shooting cannons, get fire out asap (depending on the scenario you may need to cannon or bucket instead), generally since you are downstairs you can hear boarders grabbing ladder and mermaids so call those out, also you typically want to be on cannon #2 which isn’t the front most one but the one behind that, then if there is no angle to shoot cannons I would be repairing sails, ank, wheel, and even mid deck holes if there is time.

@@emanuelecamagna1726 it’s really all about what you’re best with, now that aside if you look at some of the more experienced competitive players I’d say 9/10 times they have blunder sniper equipped and there’s a reason for that.

funnily enough, whenever we get lit on fire, we just sit there while burning and firing cannons until we get too low, pop food, and repeat.
Fire is not an excuse to stop firing upon the enemy cannons.
If you go up against a crew with a solid helm they will send snipes at your cannon line and many times when on fire you are 1 shot to sniper or even if you are full health but on fire when you get sniped you don’t have a lot of time to heal before fire kills you. This definitely doesn’t always happen but just watch out for the snipes along with cannon splash damage.

Yes I actually really like those cannons, just use whatever cannons you feel are the best for you. I just gave a few examples of what to stay away from and why. Also love the pfp, kingdom hearts is the best.
@@liger0000 ive been using the duke cannons. Thanks, I made this myself. Used a kingdom hearts font, found a blank kingdom hearts heart icon, used editing to make the color match and my text. So I made my own profile pic with my name

@@liger0000 switching weapons fast enough to make both shots accurately. Usually I get one blundered while switching or sworded to death.
@@jrsimeon02 go to the Core Animation cancel section of the video and get that down to the point that it is muscle memory and you don’t have to think about it. Start slow and gradually do it faster till you find that sweet spot. As far as dying to sword and blunder I would recommend the shoot and move mindset. After you shoot your first shot ALWAYS immediately move to a different location and then aim and shoot. Not always walking forward. Movement is 50% of double gunning. So an example of this would be to shoot a boarder, run downstairs and be turned around waiting on them with your 2nd gun when they chase after you with sword.

A lot of times he moves to the side or backwards in order to keep that separation from the sword. Watch it and don’t even pay attention to the aiming, look at the movement and learn that first.

It can be helpful for pinpointing your shots. I don’t normally use it because I like the wider field of view when zoomed out

Send them higher than you think without over thinking learn how to match arcs and it gets a lot easier

I would like to know how you knew you had been boarded before any visual or audio cues? I've rewatched several times and slowed it down, this looks odd to me, are you cheating? The single shot with the blunder and the circle arc you apply when aiming doesn't put him in the cross hairs. This all seems too easy.
Excellent attention to detail, I believe you’re talking about the ashen guy who boarded. If you look at 9:33 you can see him sword dash off the back of the boat. Just from playing so long and game sense I know I have 1 or 2 more cannons before he’s on my ladder and looks like I timed it a little early actually. If you’re referring to the board at 15:32 I heard the board splash (hard to hear over my music and narration) but I actually look at the wrong ladder.

I gave up on the pvp update and uninstalled the game. Matchmaking was a joke. My very first match I was up against a Skelly guy. Didn’t go any better after that. I’m not into the sweaty, toxic gameplay. It’s just a game.
I would say If you wanna play pvp but are discouraged by getting matched with sweats to play around 3pm. This generally has a bigger pool of players and you should be more likely to get matched with someone your elo. Also don’t let sinking discourage you, sinking is one of the best ways to teach you what you can improve on!
