I think a lot of people have smaller rugs because they simply aren't cheap and the ones that are...look it! So, if you want your room to look good and balanced, you're going to have to splurge on your rugs ladies and gentlemen. The Hyatt Place Hotel looks really nice! I love how everyone was pitching in and helping.
What a difference the right area rug can make in a space, the hotel should invest a little money to "elevate" that room even more😃! Thank you Rebecca! I take Becky's recommendations seriously and my house is a reflection of that from the moment you walk in!
Shout Out to Hyatt Place for taking great care of you. Kindness speaks volume. Area rugs are not my strong point, thank you for this video, much needed help.
Great advice! And it still cracks me up to hear you talk about places in Tulsa😅. When I started watching you years ago, I would have never thought that one day you would be local!
As an almost 62 yr old lady I appreciate your journey both personal and professional. I love your style and I’m waiting for the Rebecca Robeson Eyewear line!
My living room is right beside my dining area like Nina's. I only have a very small rug on the living room side. However, I've only found a great 9 x 12 wool + linen rug for the living room side. You've answered my thoughts on a rug under the dining table - none. Not only from a matching point of view, but I don't want to clean a rug with food on it all the time.
My parents always had a round rug under the dining table, and like Rebecca said, the back legs are OFF the rug, and then get all tangled up whenever any of us try to pull in our chairs. Ugh.
Yes do a video on angled fireplaces! I have one and it is the reason why I haven't redecorated. I don't where to put sofa, but don't want to block fireplace, don't know where to put T.V. so that you can see it.👏
My dining room was used. Thank you Rebecca as I’ve been trying to convince my husband to purchase a bigger rug. I need a new light too. ❤ No feelings hurt here just a stubborn husband 😂. My living room rug is huge, bound carpet which was much cheaper than a rug.
Yes, please give us more tips for working with a corner fireplace in a family room. I can't figure out how to have symmetry/balance, the U shape with furniture, and a tv placement when it cannot go above the fireplace. Thank you!
Your great tip - if you can select rugs before decorating it can help choose a colour palette - also great way to get your point over by setting up a rug in the hotel room 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 # feel better soon Becky
My living room was used, thank you Rebecca!! So inspiring and generous!! Your experience is invaluable, I really appreciate 🫶🏻 keep on giving us valuable unique content ❤️
Your home, the parquet floors, + architecture, and your furniture & furnishings, including the luscious area rugs, are lovely, traditional, classic, + quality-looking (hard to tell from my tiny phone!). The pieces are beautiful. I get the feeling your home exudes -- "world-travelled", David Austen Roses, live orchids in the baths -- even from such brief glimpses. I'm getting the aesthetics of English country estates, Portugal. It's really lovely & sweet of you to allow your HOME to be critiqued in this forum! That takes a very secure and self-confident lady. Loved it, thank you.
I’m so sorry you had to leave your beautiful home. 😢 I hope the damage is able to be repaired quickly. Thank you for finding a way to set up videos for us!
Absolutely enjoyed seeing downtown Tulsa from your hotel! Rug training 101 was so fun to watch. Point made!!!! Larger rugs always look better! Thanks Rebecca 👍
Simply perfection! It’s such a small detail, but the difference is huge. We’re building our new house and I will definitely take your advice. Thank You for sharing!
I have the largest area rug I can have because of the walkway you talked about. And the way my den is laid out, I have a walkway on all 4 sides. So no walls have sitting furniture. BTW, I saw your 'too much stuff' video, first one I've ever seen. Everyone is right. You're spectacular. I subscribe to only a few channels and yours is one! TY. I'm gonna purge, and I changed from dark to light on my rug, can't change size. I love it! ❤️
Brilliant video Rebecca ,,,, seeing it really does help and your right it does look much bigger . I think NOW when people go to buy rugs they will remember this video. I know I will. I have learnt so much over the years by watching your videos . THANKYOU 👍🇬🇧
😮wowo 🤩thank you Rebeca for all great s ideas 💡❣️🙅🏻♀️and send you the biggest hugs and blessings 🫂 for this times!! Wish the naturally storm🙏🏻you be passing now🙅🏻♀️🙏🏻😘
I like the biggest rug, for a room like that a 12'x 20' would have been awesome! Thanks Rebecca, I am very visual! Ahmady was amazing for letting you get your point across, what a great store! Blessings 💕🤗
I needed this video!! Ugh!! So badly. I need to invest in area rugs. The videos were very helpful too! Would love to see more of that where people submit their videos for critique.
I have a corner fireplace with a TV over it. I would love to hear/see some idea as to how to best utilize the space without ripping it out. Using a small space.
Well this video answered a lot of my questions. I had wondered if the area rug had to be bigger than whatever was on it? Meaning big enough so that the sofa, chair and cofee table (and/or ottoman) and fit on it. I also thought Rebecca looked like she had lost weight. But I thought maybe it was the camera angle or just me. But I didn't know that the area rug could be used to add a pop of color to a room. So that's good to know.
Yes please do a video on corner fireplaces. I have a corner fireplace and a small living family room not too small though. So we also have a tv in there, not above the fireplace.
I love all your tips! I submitted photos and my room definitely falls into the “too small” area rug category (among other problem areas) 😂 I’m glad I watched this! Now I know what to do to correct my area rug problem. ❤
oh my gosh! I have the same medium rug that sofas foot outside.! Must buy a bigger rug now! Thank you ! Can we have also everything about the fireplace? Which kind should be for the living room, please?
Oh yes please a video on a corner fireplace please please!! I have a tall white corner fireplace with mink color wood floors..Need some ideas on how to set up my room please please
Rebecca, I am breaking SOOOOO many of your guidelines by building a [fake] corner fireplace in my square bedroom - AND angling the bed towards it! Due to a small corner window, my bedroom is off-balance anyway, and rather than fight the placement of closet and window, I’m embracing them so I can do a lavish window treatment (which would have been impossible had the bed been centered on the window wall) - while realizing my dream of gazing at a fireplace from bed. I don’t understand why corner fireplaces are so difficult to work around. They make iron-no/glue-on edging for carpets, so all you need to do is lop off a corner of a rectilinear rug to correspond to the lines of the fireplace, and you’re good to go. Alternatively, circular and oval rugs can be employed. 😊 ps ~ I’m still abiding your advisory as to the need for balance (if not actual mirrored symmetry) in the bedroom - and will ensure the “weight” of the furniture & decor are distributed equally on either side of the bed!
Can you use the mouse to show us locations of things? When you point with your fingers, your hand covers up the image you’re trying to share. Thanks! Love your content.
Love your videos! YES PLEASE do a video on angled fireplaces! Ours is pretty big with u-shaped brick that goes up to the top of vaulted ceiling. It's dark multi-toned brick and we tried to put our TV above it and it seemed to high because the room is small.
We couldn’t find one bigger than 8x10. All the front legs do fit on it. We bought 2 one for the living part of the great room and the same size for the dining section. We can pull out the chairs without going off the rug, except when we use all the extensions.
Hi, lovely that you will help us to improve our homes. Please, can you say ithat in the title and when you speak ? I think that people are more willing to change there home when they did not hear there ‘mistake’, but when they hear how to improve and make it more plesant and beautiful than it is now. Thank you for your time and effort !
I usually decorate rooms, or sets of adjoining rooms, based on a large piece of art or a patterned fabric, or especially, an area rug(s) that I love. I’ll use the same patterned rug in a suite of rooms, each properly sized. It’s nearly impossible to find a patterned rug, upholstery or art that works after everything else has been chosen. A patterned area rug will decide the color scheme, then I choose the largest, upholstered, pieces of furniture in a prominent neutral or basic solid, like navy, etc. from the rug. Wall paint and accessories like lamps, pillows and throws are available in any color, so are the easiest to add last. I like to choose one wood and one metal color for a set of rooms, and the same trim/molding color, at least, if not the same wall color throughout, these give continuity. I think, like you Rebecca, that symmetry is super-important, it has been wrongly ignored for decades. We are hard-wired to find symmetry appealing, starting with in our faces and bodies. It’s just going to be expensive to put in properly-sized area rugs, especially in the wool I insist on. Just get used to budgeting a big chunk of budget for these. Afterthoughts are always obvious.
I'm just gonna say it - your skirt is fabulous!
