I have a normal to dry skin type and apply coconut oil after i shower to moisturize my skin; I use the MAC Studio Scultp SPF 15 Foundation( in the long tube) and it works amazing!! I always stayed away from MAC due to the fact that I didn't want my make-up looking caked on my face but this foundation leaves it looking natural! I have gotten complements on my complexion from girl friends as well as guys while wearing this make-up. It blends really well and does not come off during the day. I HIGHLY recommend it!! I also use the MAC loose mineral foundation with a finish of MAC peach twist blush.
I'm so happy I found your channel! You literally have the same skin type as me, and I love the way you explain things! Seriously the best UA-camr I've found that goes in depth about foundations, without forgetting to mention skin types, consistency, finish, etc...
This came up in my suggestions! Haha this is crazy! I’ve literally followed you since then and this popping up has given me all kinds of feels. Always been one of my fave youtubers ❤️
A lot of people say Mac products break you out. I'm been using studio fix fluid for a few weeks and it hasn't broken me out at all. I have acne prone skin too. Maybe I'm just lucky.
I've been waiting FOREVER for a video like this, I've got normal to combination skin and it seems like every other video on MAC foundations doesn't go into as much detail and is as clear as this, yaaay :) xxx
My skin is so weird. I have yet to find something good for my skin. What would you recommend for me? I wash my face, my skin is extremely dry and my make up goes on nasty (I have yet to find a good moisturizer that works and dries so I can apply makeup) and then within an hour, my skin is extremely oily all over all day. I get so frustrated.
Do you drink enough water? I used to have skin like this, then I started carrying a one litre water bottle around. I found that if you've got water in front of you then you just tend to drink it! Then when I got used to drinking one litre a day, I started carrying around yet another litre bottle :-). You'll find that when you wash your face it strips all of the sebum (oil) off your face, and leaves you feeling very dry - because of this dryness your skin tries to balance it out by counteracting it with oil. Drinking more water will solve this - as will cutting out any sorts of extra salty foods that you may be eating (i know i was!) Hope this helps in some shape or form.
Try Moisture infusion from MAC, apply it after you've exfoliated and cleansed the skin, then use a moisturizer. I can vouch for Studio Moisture Fix from MAC, but you'll be sure to find someone that you like there. :)
Madison Ordy I can tell you right now: if your face is extremely dry after washing it, your cleanser is the main problem here. What are you using? You are stripping your face and its causing your skin to over produce oil. Try a significantly more gentle cleanser. It should completely fix your dry skin and lower the amount of oil you’re producing.
You have no idea how helpful this was. I always get so curious as to what kind I should get considering there's so many different options, and I always worry about making a purchase I will regret. Thank you!
The face and body has emollients in it that when you rub it about, it turns quite thick like a paste to give heavier coverage. That's also what separates from the water base and probably why it feels goopy on your brush! Love your videos, Sammi :)
I need help. My foundations are always too pink or too orange . I've tried different shades and I've been matched but I'm going to Mac because I'm tired of everyone else wasting my time and money 😔
+AyeSofia Ask for a tester, you can totally do that. Also its important to consider the fact that the lighting in the store can look very different from natural sunlight, so its a good idea to walk around for a d=few minutes after trying it on before making your purchase. Good Luck ^__^
I by chance tried a MAC foundation 6 years ago and I never trusted a another foundation ever since.so many ppl hate it, but I love their foundations and I love you cause you do :)
I bought kat Von d foundation for $45 after tax (yikes) and my roommate liked it so much she bought it off of me. Since I didn't have it I chose to use my mac foundation again and I realized how much I missed it and how much I prefer it over everything else. Mac is my favorite
I love love love the matchmaster foundation. I have a combination of a pink and yellow undertone, and this is actually the only one that matches my skin tone perfectly. I have combination skin and it works amazing!
This was super helpful! Thank you. I know what you mean about the Face and Body feeling tacky. I find that setting it with powder and waiting a while, it dries to a powder finish. I love how natural and glowy it looks on the skin
Mineralize Satinfinish has been replaced by Mineralize Moisture, great for dry skin, gives a nice glow and i don't think its glittery...Matchmaster has colour adjusting property so the face doesn't look grey even if the foundation doesn't match you perfectly, great for normal to oily skin. Hope that helps.
MAC foundations really aren't that great, and Studio Fix Fluid is seriously hyped up and is notorious for initiating major breakouts. The best out of the lot is really Face and Body(much loved by loads of MUA; Lisa Eldridge, Mary Greenwell and Wayne Goss) or Matchmaster foundation. They're just good at providing a better range of shades. You could probably buy a better high-quality, higher end foundation with about almost the same price as MAC foundations
Studio fix fluid is fine for me as I have oily skin. They are designed to be able to suit different skin types, so it makes sense that you only really like face and body as it suits your skin tone :)
I reckon Pro longwear could work and studio tech maybe, I dont have dry skin so hard to give a good suggestion! Anyone seeing this with dry skin do you have any suggestions? =]
I am looking for a good foundation. But when I put foundation my skin does not look natural and my cheeks and my nose still looks very red. Can someone help me ?
Maybe you need to prime your face with green based primer to counter the redness of your cheeks. Then apply a foundation after priming. Maybe it'll helps :)
Which Mac foundation would you recommend for oily skin 😶 I've been looking for one that doesn't cake up my face but I haven't found one yet. If someone could please help lol 😭
Prolongwear! Its Medium Coverage, Natural Matte finish, 15 hour wear, water resistant, sweat resistant, transfer resistant. I've worn it for a year and a half now everytime I go back to it time and time again. When I put it on in the morning, and when I come home at night, it still looks fresh. Needless to say I love it.
Try a Mac Counter at Macy's or Nordstrom or go to the mac website, they even have a foundation finder on thier site. Keep in mind they refer to "warm" as pinkinsh undertone (NW) and "cool" as yellow undertone (NC)
studio sculpt broke me out like no other... when i tested it out on only one side of my face it gave me little blackheads on my cheeks that lasted for weeks. i thoroughly enjoy MAC face and body, as well as the matchmaster one :)
I bought pro longwear after watching this and I really love it! I have combination/oily skin, but I have a really really dry spot between my eyebrows. I find that if I prime oily areas and moisturizer dry areas, the finish of the foundation looks beautiful.
I havent tried all of them but im not the biggest fan because they tend to make my skin look quite...powdery haha! cakey, so im trying out different brands =]
I find NC 40 to be really versatile. They're not quite light, nor are they too dark. Sammi would probably be on the lighter side of NC 40, probably NC 37 to NC 40-ish
I love the face and body, but I do get that sticky feeling. The girl at the mac counter said this was because you are supposed to wait for it to get tacky like that before you put on another layer because then it has partially set and you are actually putting on another layer instead of just smearing the previous layer around your face. I use the ambient lighting powder over because then I dont lose the luminosity but then that feeling isnt on my skin anymore.
studio sculpt works amazingly with dry skin. the gel formula helps to hold down any flakiness but if you wear it too often, then it kind of suffocates yours pores coz of the thickness
i just thought i would let you know that out of all the beauty gurus i'm subscribed to, you are by far my favourite :) you seem so sweet and approachable, and your hilarious! every product you have reccomended is amazing, not to mention your stunning ! never stop making videos sammi aha! kisses from australia xx
Pro Longwear. You have to apply it section at at time on your face.. But it does last all freaking day. I live in southern california here in united states. I've gone swimming and sweated crazy with it on and it stayed ! :)
I know this is a super old video but I just recently went to the MAC store and the girl working there was wearing Face and Body mixed with Water weight and it was such a beautiful combination, with powder, bronzer, and strobing. So yeah I spent $68 on foundation that day...
Hey sammi, I was just watching your sunkissed summer makeup tutorial from last July and I was just wondering if you remembered what hair dye you used to get your hair that light/medium brown colour? I love it and its perfect for the summer! Great video btw, I need to ask for samples at mac but always get nervous haha xxxx
I have really oily skin but dry on my forehead and I'm just really stuck on which one to get! This video has definitely given me more knowledge though, thank you xx
Hey, I've normal to dry skin and have tryied Face & Body, Pro longwear and Studio sculpt so far and personally think F&B works best! =} Studio sculpt enchance dry patches a little bit and Pro longwear works soso. In my experiences with foundation, oil-free, oil absorbing and those with matte finish are NOT recommended for Dry Skin, so Studio fix powder/liquid and Pro long wear are best for oily skin IMO! I would say; StudioTech, the Mineralize ones and F&B would work for people with dry skin!
Very helpful video. I have the Pro longwear and it's soooo good. Way better than any drugstore foundation i have, and I've tried at least 6 of those. Do you think you could do a video on Mac concealers as well? That would be great.
i think the foundation your talking about which you dont have and its in a compact is the mineralize spf15 , which i think is more of a light to medium coverage you can build on it, but its for dry skin gives you abit of the dewy look so not sure if it would work with your skin x
I do find F&B stick for the first few minutes I apply it, and every time I apply it, I go, "Ugh, why do I like this stuff?" LOL! But once it dries down, I can't feel it at all and it's downright amazing. Works really well for combination-dry skin that doesn't need a lot of coverage.
I totally understand what u were talking about with the mac face and body foundation. The sticky kinda feeling you get wen u touch ur face before u put on the powder.. i absolutely hate tht to bits!!
I work as a receptionist at a skin clinic where microdermabrasion is done and the practitioner has told me that even the powerful exfoliation from microdermabrasion struggles to get all of mac foundation of as it sticks to the skin. If she if removing a mac foundation it will actually splatter against her clothes and so is the worst foundation for those with acne/spot prone skin
Came across your channel today, well this vid to be exact. Absolutely love Studio sculpt Its full coverage but after using it for over a year or so I now notice how sticky it is and I highly recommend a setting spray maybe its sticky for me now due to my face wash products that are causing my face to become more oily. I use MAC studio fix powder compact over my studio sculpt. I look forward to trying MAC Prolong wear after watching this.. Thank you!!
I Love mac matchmaster, also love the pro longwear... In powder form i looove the mac mineralize skinfinish natural, the best powder, in the world! ;) Also really like the blot powder it keeps me matte for a long time. The studio fix powder is great, but I get oily quite quickly when I wear it.. Great video Sammi :)
the only foundation that I was comfortable to use is the bareminerals liquid foundation but Im expanding my foundation favorites. I got the face and body, match master, and studio fix fluid samples today. So far I'm loving them.
Your so so so stunning, I've way he'd all of your videos and was going back through and fancied watching this again! Please do an updated makeup collection because in your new background it looks so pretty!
Thank you so much! They don't sell MAC anywhere near me, and I've been really nervous about buying foundation/concealers online (I'm horrible at choosing my skin colour), but this at least lets me know which type I should try :)
Know the feeling exactly when you were on about touching your face after putting on certain foundations and it feels like tacky or sticky, i hate it too! I haaate foundations that feel like they take an age to dry! Great video, I have such a long MAC wishlist its getting silly haha xx
hey would you consider making a video on what to pack for the UK.... im going to london for 4 months in the fall time and i have no idea what to pack....
Helped alot!!! Definatly will be getting the studio pro long wear foundation.. think its better than the one I have... Please do one for concealers!!!!
so which would you recommend for dry skin? I use studio fix which you said isn't too good for dry skin and it can leave me looking flaky around my nose, love your videos!xx
I love my drugstore foundation, and I'm not going to buy any mac at this time because of lack of money, but i still wanna watch the video, beause i like you so much!
I really needed this video. I never purchased a Mac foundation, and I wouldn't know what shade to buy ( sales representatives suck). I'll just buy your shade beautycrush. Thank you!
i found this video soooo helpful, there are so many mac foundations and it gets really confusing but after watching this i think i have an idea of the foundation for me :) thanks xx luv your vids btw! and your OOTD every day is an awsome idea :D xx
I love the Studio sculpt my skins dry and its perfect. I agree Matchmatcher which i own is terrible for dry skin. While my views on Pro Longwear well I can't give an opinion because they don't do my shade (NW15) what is a total downer
If only you had made this video earlier.. but oh well I still learned a lot from you. When I had gone to MAC they matched me to the wrong color, when my shade is exactly like yours. So from watching your videos I saw a definite difference on as to what one of the associates were applying on to my face. I was like omg. so I still bought it but later, after seeing how it turned out on my face, I went in to get the same color as you. I swear you'd be better off working at a MAC store, Very helfpul♥
How did you get the pump on the f&b? I have it I feel I waste a lot by pouring out too much. I know what you mean about the sticky feeling, I like it though. Love your videos!
Matchmaster is for those whose skin is neutral. If you find that most foundationsbpull both too pink and too yellow on you, try it. i use MAC Mineralize SPF 15 foundation, which I adore.
ooh i was thinking of investing in a MAC foundation so this video was pretty helpful :) i know what you mean about sparkles in the mineralize satin-finish though. i tested some on my hand and i looked like edward cullen, that put me off for a while in regards to MAC but i think i'll go out and try some more out!
I used to be obsessed with foundation, I could not leave my house without it. But for some reason, I just started to hate it. I love the glow that my natural skin tone has and I just find that when I wear foundation, I lose that glow and my skin just looks dull :( Maybe I should try one of these, hopefully I will start liking it again
@abby louise well anything in the 10-15 range is light (10 being lighter), the only difference being that NC is more yellow and NW is more. Hope I helped :)
Hey Samantha! It seems like I'm the same shade as you in foundations, is it possible if you could give a full list of all the foundations you use and what shades you have in them? I am the same as you in Mac, Nars and the Bobbi Brown foundation lol :)
Where did you get your Face & Body pump? That is genius! And how did you get it on there cuz the Face & Body I have comes with a nozzle and you squeeze the bottle to get product out.
What's your shade in studio sculpt?
darebear329 For the studio sculpt my shade is NC25(:
Elizabeth Lopez does Mac give breaks out
Mac loose mineral foundation on top of sculpt?
I'm so happy I found your channel! You literally have the same skin type as me, and I love the way you explain things! Seriously the best UA-camr I've found that goes in depth about foundations, without forgetting to mention skin types, consistency, finish, etc...
Your face literally looks like those perfect fairy faces from the animated Tinkerbell movies.
Rohini Venkat | Right! She’s beautiful
idk why youtube just suggested this to me. this was an era!!! bless you for this time period I'm so nostalgic for it.
This came up in my suggestions! Haha this is crazy! I’ve literally followed you since then and this popping up has given me all kinds of feels. Always been one of my fave youtubers ❤️
I really like that you showed blending in the foundations on your hand, that was very helpful and I've never seen other gurus do that! Thanks Sam!
A lot of people say Mac products break you out. I'm been using studio fix fluid for a few weeks and it hasn't broken me out at all. I have acne prone skin too. Maybe I'm just lucky.

go to the mac store and get an associate to help you. they asses you and it really helps

You remind me of Leona Lewis :)
The face and body has emollients in it that when you rub it about, it turns quite thick like a paste to give heavier coverage. That's also what separates from the water base and probably why it feels goopy on your brush! Love your videos, Sammi :)
I need help. My foundations are always too pink or too orange . I've tried different shades and I've been matched but I'm going to Mac because I'm tired of everyone else wasting my time and money 😔
find your skin undertone
+AyeSofia Ask for a tester, you can totally do that. Also its important to consider the fact that the lighting in the store can look very different from natural sunlight, so its a good idea to walk around for a d=few minutes after trying it on before making your purchase. Good Luck ^__^
you might have an olive undertone its nothing bad😊
Try the NC shades of MAC foundations, that's the yellow undertone. Might work for u. Good luck
OR you can also try MAC's colors in the C range, instead of NC if that's to orange for you. C is is less yellow then NC but still on the Olive side
A little sad that MAC have raised their prices since this video :(
This was super helpful! Thank you. I know what you mean about the Face and Body feeling tacky. I find that setting it with powder and waiting a while, it dries to a powder finish. I love how natural and glowy it looks on the skin
What's your shade in studio sculp?

You could probably buy a better high-quality, higher end foundation with about almost the same price as MAC foundations
Studio fix fluid is fine for me as I have oily skin. They are designed to be able to suit different skin types, so it makes sense that you only really like face and body as it suits your skin tone :)
That's really just your opinion... I don't like face and body at all and love studio fix
Stephanie Salan Im glad studio fix works out for you :) it just doesn't work for me.
Rebecca Jane designed to be 'not that great'? lol
If they don't work for you that's not my fault, don't have a go at me :)
Do you use moisturizer before applying your foundation? Because that makes a big difference.
BB cream or CC cream
Clarins illuminate is great
My skin is really dry, too! I was so fond of the Matchmaster foundation at first but after a while it made my skin dry out completely!
Which Mac foundation would you recommend for oily skin 😶 I've been looking for one that doesn't cake up my face but I haven't found one yet. If someone could please help lol 😭
Me too I have oily and dry skin I hate it lol I have a wedding coming up on Nov and I'm looking for a good foundation that is going work
To *
Prolongwear!
Thanks where can i get it
Try a Mac Counter at Macy's or Nordstrom or go to the mac website, they even have a foundation finder on thier site. Keep in mind they refer to "warm" as pinkinsh undertone (NW) and "cool" as yellow undertone (NC)

She missed studio fix??? Cant find the moment she she was talking about it..!
+Caramelbeautyx yeah same, thats the reason i was here 😂😂
yep :D
She did talk about it xx you just missed it
which minute????
+So raaad near the end of the video.. it's the last one (she just didn't have it physically with her when she's talking about it)
You look so beautiful, not that you don't look pretty in your other videos but the lighting is so good! Your skin and hair look amazing too x
Why so beautiful 😩
I bought pro longwear after watching this and I really love it! I have combination/oily skin, but I have a really really dry spot between my eyebrows. I find that if I prime oily areas and moisturizer dry areas, the finish of the foundation looks beautiful.
I wish those prices were the same now 😂
Assuming you live in America, keep in mind that she has a different currency. £22.50 is equivalent to $32.82
I live in the UK ...
everything in this video is over $45 in Australia
thats cool !
expensive tho!!!
I havent tried all of them but im not the biggest fan because they tend to make my skin look quite...powdery haha! cakey, so im trying out different brands =]
are you really a nc40? you look like a nc20 :o
I find NC 40 to be really versatile. They're not quite light, nor are they too dark. Sammi would probably be on the lighter side of NC 40, probably NC 37 to NC 40-ish
Face and body, I forgot to mention! x
I LOVE you natural makeup in this video!! Could you do a tutorial for this every day simple look?
studio sculpt works amazingly with dry skin. the gel formula helps to hold down any flakiness but if you wear it too often, then it kind of suffocates yours pores coz of the thickness
i just thought i would let you know that out of all the beauty gurus i'm subscribed to, you are by far my favourite :) you seem so sweet and approachable, and your hilarious! every product you have reccomended is amazing, not to mention your stunning ! never stop making videos sammi aha! kisses from australia xx
I have very dry skin and was told to stay away from studio fix and pro longwear. Studio sculpt is brilliant for dry skin
Sam! You should re-do a top 10 MAC eyeshadow in HD. I would love to see that! I love your MAC lipstick clip as well.
I have the Studio Fix in powder form and it works really good. I have combination skin. It was the first thing I bought for
Pro Longwear. You have to apply it section at at time on your face.. But it does last all freaking day. I live in southern california here in united states. I've gone swimming and sweated crazy with it on and it stayed ! :)

This helped so much because we are the same shades, and when I had the face and body it was as if I had just applied water to my face xx
Sammi what foundation are you wearing in this video ? And you are 100 times better than any MAC makeup artist, your so helpful and genuine xxxx
The elf buffing brush is great for applying foundation and cheap too!
Hey sammi, I was just watching your sunkissed summer makeup tutorial from last July and I was just wondering if you remembered what hair dye you used to get your hair that light/medium brown colour? I love it and its perfect for the summer! Great video btw, I need to ask for samples at mac but always get nervous haha xxxx
i don't know whether you've tried it but MAC face and body mixed with the studio sculpt foundation works a treat.. :)
I have really oily skin but dry on my forehead and I'm just really stuck on which one to get! This video has definitely given me more knowledge though, thank you xx
Which foundation do you wear on this video? Looks amazing!
Hey, I've normal to dry skin and have tryied Face & Body, Pro longwear and Studio sculpt so far and personally think F&B works best! =} Studio sculpt enchance dry patches a little bit and Pro longwear works soso.

You've been posting tons of videos lately and it makes me sooooo happy everytime i go on youtube
I agree, I used the MUFE foundation for prom, and my skin looked so good in pictures, even though it really isn't :)
I totally understand what u were talking about with the mac face and body foundation. The sticky kinda feeling you get wen u touch ur face before u put on the powder.. i absolutely hate tht to bits!!

Thank you!!
Your face looks so flawless and your hair looks great in this video.
i saw this video was 11 minutes long and i was like ohhhh....bit long. before I knew it, 11 minutes was over. haha. love it!
can you do an updated video on your hair? its looks really nice x
I Love mac matchmaster, also love the pro longwear... In powder form i looove the mac mineralize skinfinish natural, the best powder, in the world! ;) Also really like the blot powder it keeps me matte for a long time. So far I'm loving them.

I want to try the studio fix. I'm always looking for a matte finish foundation and it seems hard to find cuz everyone prefers the dewy finish.
hey would you consider making a video on what to pack for the UK.... im going to london for 4 months in the fall time and i have no idea what to pack....
could you do a video on advice for pale skin? and make ups for pale skin? thanks! xx
thank youu! Im going to try! ^_^ Got no internet at home though atm and it suckss! x
Helped alot!!! Definatly will be getting the studio pro long wear foundation.. think its better than the one I have... Please do one for concealers!!!!
This video was super helpful. I believe you can just say "demi matte" when describing a foundation that's not too matte or dewy but right in between.
so which would you recommend for dry skin? I use studio fix which you said isn't too good for dry skin and it can leave me looking flaky around my nose, love your videos!xx
I love my drugstore foundation, and I'm not going to buy any mac at this time because of lack of money, but i still wanna watch the video, beause i like you so much!
Loved this video so helpful. I only wish u had of put an overlay of u applying the foundation to ur face afterwards ❤❤❤❤
I really needed this video. I never purchased a Mac foundation, and I wouldn't know what shade to buy ( sales representatives suck). I'll just buy your shade beautycrush. Thank you!
your skin looks flawless in this video!! gorgeous :) what foundation are you wearing?
what foundation have you got on in this video? you skin looks amazing!
Omg where you get that necklace from!!!?!?!?! I've been wanting a sideways cross since forever
i found this video soooo helpful, there are so many mac foundations and it gets really confusing but after watching this i think i have an idea of the foundation for me :) thanks xx luv your vids btw! and your OOTD every day is an awsome idea :D xx
I swear you'd be better off working at a MAC store, Very helfpul♥
can you do a nail tutorial for this look? they are gorgeous!!!!!!
I actually really like the lash accelerator mascara....... For me I just want really long lashes and no clumps and this works really nice for that
I have that same thing where you put the foundation on and it feels sticky, just like you've been in a humid place. lol. Love watching you videos!
Excellent Advice! Thank you! I will pick Face & Body and Mineral Skin Finish.
This was really helpful! thank you
I just purchased the studio fix fluid so we'll see how I like it. :) so far so good and it's been on for about 3 hours and my skin is crazy oily.
Which foundation do you have on in this vid?
Great video btw! Glad you went over all of them, I’m leaning towards Mac for a new foundation
ooh i was thinking of investing in a MAC foundation so this video was pretty helpful :) i know what you mean about sparkles in the mineralize satin-finish though. i tested some on my hand and i looked like edward cullen, that put me off for a while in regards to MAC but i think i'll go out and try some more out!
would love to see this same video but with drugstore foundations please!
It's the film formers in face and body, that make it sticky. I love it and I've just hit 53..good video x
I am the same as you in Mac, Nars and the Bobbi Brown foundation lol :)
can you please do one of these for concealer too ? don't know which one to buy x
Where did you get your Face & Body pump? That is genius! And how did you get it on there cuz the Face & Body I have comes with a nozzle and you squeeze the bottle to get product out.
