We're not patiently waiting, we're sitting in a corner, rocking back and forth, rewatching the live mode video like an addict :D
We dont want our Paras to get sick, it's enough for us to get sick in our world. Let's hope they are spared going through this.
As for the basements, I think it was said somewhere on the devs roadmap that basements will come, but as an addition after the early access will go live, in undisclosed future after that launch.
And it is understandable that the Early Access will come with bugs, but I too hope it will be a functional game in some sense of core functions working, not just being confined to making your Para and having to stay at home with this Para cause there's nothing else.

Yeah, when I said patiently, I meant exactly how you described it! 😅

you can always easily get mods to disable aspects of the game you don't like (since steam community will be integrated). Chopping off "uncomfortable" aspects of life is one of the main reasons Sims 4 is the empty shell of a game.

I was thinking an in game option to turn off some of the more adult or downer features would be ideal. I think there will be a bit of a crossover of players playing this some will be looking for more cosy vibes like animal crossing etc and some will be looking for more unpredictability and goofiness of some of the other sims games (1,2&3-4 is more kid friendly imo) @@ember9361

I want my characters to get sick, so I can give them medicine or go to the doctors.

I don't agree, i want my characters to get sick and be hospitalized, and then they'll have to need a ton of money, and then their families will have to work more for it. I was expecting more DRAMA, misfortune, fly-by-night, and one of Sims4's failings was that it was overly safe, which was just boring. I think paralives will have a similar mod for MCCC, if you don't want something to happen you can turn it off, but you can't have a simulation game without drama!

I'll say from personal experience working on my own (now abandoned) attempt at a life simulator that a (good) genetics system is potentially a lot easier than an even passable build-buy mode (which turned out to be very, very hard and I never really figured out how to make a good one) -- that being said, it would depend on how they represent the characteristics of Paras in code and also what kind of genetics system they go for.

I haven't been following the development for long but damn I really thought the Christmas shaders were the current shaders until I saw the "3 years ago"..

It's pretty crazy how long ago that video released 😳

I really hope our paras could become sick! And possibly die from sickness if they aren't properly taken care of. A simple sickness would be fine, we can always add more with cc in the future if we want to. I think it would really add to the realism. I'm very excited for the game nevetheless 😊

The question "was it pre-rendered" was badly formulated. I think noone doubts that the stuff was made in-engine... that actually means pretty little. The actually interesting question is: "was it specifically set-up, were the animations, houses, UI elements etc specificially made only for this video". Because for a lot of aspects of their videos this is a clear yes.

well the house was yes. since the town doesn’t exist. but honestly it means a lot for the haters who hate without any good cause and suggest the game will be nothing like what we see bc it’s supposedly shown outside of the engine.

    • @Thyana-ig5no

In-engine means almost nothing. It means, in worst case you've played around with the Unity tools to create the video you show, instead of paying a video company create a trailer for you. In best case, the game already exists and all scenes which are shown are already playable.
I believe, the videos from the first years are very deep in the territory of "played around with the unity tools", while the later videos clearly show an existing construct, with showing off features which aren't playable yet
(The fact that the UI got changed in almost every early video is actually a really good indicator that the UI simply not really existed yet to that time)
Basically, yes you can use these videos as proof that the assets and animations exist, but by themselves they cannot be used as "proof" that a game exists or how far the progress is. Unless you show uncut gameplay for longer than a few seconds, but they haven't yet (compare: 20 min uncut LBY gameplay videos. These are videos I'd use as "proof".)
Paralives is just still in an extremely early alpha phase with almost no actual playable systems yet, and the devs prefer to show set-up content instead of documenting how the game looks right now. It's their decision - but that's why you can't use it as "proof", and it's not a sign of transparency.
And when they don't even write in the video that the shown gameplay systems aren't playable yet... that could be called misleading, may it be unintentional or intentional, and hyped fans who don't do recherches do think all these systems are in a playable state already.

@@Thyana-ig5no well not really. it’s common sense that the game isnt playable, we all know it’s in development. those who don’t will learn. either way we don’t know how playable any of those systems are so you’re no more right or wrong than me by saying they’re not functional 🤷🏽‍♀️

    • @Thyana-ig5no
      @Thyana-ig5no 7 місяців тому

Fully agreed. It just pains to read the comment section there, and even some youtubers who say they'd love to play it already in the current state, not understanding that currently there's simply almost no functioning game system yet, even for the devs themselves
Saying this video is "proof" for how far the game progressed, while it has not yet
And i have no idea how the devs want to turn this current game into a good early access title in just 1,5 years, when their first gameplay prototype only exists since half a year, and they still haven't figured out which features they actually want to have in the game or not. It's still partly in a vague dream state.
The game's marketing causes so much overhype, a lot of people will be hurt, and that's just sad

@@Thyana-ig5no but it is proof? if you compare this video to the first few videos we saw, you can see the progress visually in new assets, animations, the art style’s numerous updates, plus all the systems they showed us. to say there’s no progress is an outright lie.
though i do agree the date for EA doesn’t sound great to me. i was hoping for a few more years before that.
