- Turn inexpensive paper napkins into a great DIY version of vellum! It looks fantastic in junk journal projects, and it’s so fast and simple to do, you’ll be astonished. Dig out an old white candle and let’s get started!

I love the faux vellum idea! A easier way to shave the candle would be to use a cheese grater. They got small handled ones at dollar tree usually. Then you can get a lot done at once and have a stash whenever you need it! 🤗❤
Great idea!! Like zesting lemon! Thanks!
@@annekenlon Thanks! and your welcome! 🤗
Hi Anne! That´s an interesting idea! I love the result and I thought very beautiful when you put colorful things inside the pockets! 🩷🩷🩷🩷🌹🌹🌹🌹
Thank you, dear Mrs. C!!
Lovee those pockets the faux vellum turned out great💜💜
Thanks, Sarah! I'm really glad you watched!
Neat idea, and Anne, I have that same ladybug vacuum!! Haha!
It's so handy, isn't it? I use it constantly and even gave some to my crafting friends for Christmas one year!
Intetrsting idea. I love your completed pockets. Thanks.❤❤❤
Thank you so much, Patricia!
Very fun. I love the stamping idea. Ive only seen this with printed napkins. I dont own an iron believe it or not. Ill have to look for one at the thrift store. I used to iron all the laundry especially husbands shirts. Since the divorce i havent touched one. Im all ironed out 😂😂😂😂 fun video as usual anne with an e😊❤ you are my inspirational guru❤
Thank you, Suzy! Truthfully I don't iron that much myself anymore - we're mostly a T-shirt crowd around this joint!
I love this! So simple. Thanks for doing the experiments and creating this. Very fun
I'm so grateful that you watched - thank you!
What a great idea but will need to get candles. Thanks for sharing. ❤❤❤
Have great fun with this, Ann - thanks for watching!
This technique is so cool!!! I love it. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thank you, Joanne! I'm so glad you watched it - much appreciated!
I would use paraffin wax blocks and use a grater to make the shavings
Super idea - thanks, Sandy! And paraffin wax is easy to find in the canning section of the grocery store this time of year.
Love it Anne! TFS your amazing array of craftiness! B
Oh, Brian, it always makes me so happy to hear from you. Thank you for being there! Sending love from Portland.
Great video. I use a slightly different technique to get the melted wax vellum look. (basically warm up the paper and rub with the side of a candle, use kraft paper as a blotter).I love the pockets you made! I'm going to add something similar to my current journal project. I wonder if I can draw an image with permanent marker? Or maybe I will try something with a preprinted napkin. Ooo the juices are flowing-thanks Anne. (It's not even 8 AM yet)
Great tip with rubbing the candle - I’ll try that while my candle stuff is still out! Have fun with the pockets and whatever else you try! Thanks so much.
Fabulous!!! What a great idea. I’ll definitely be trying this later today 😀
Thank you, Jennie! Yours will be great, I know!
Very interesting and very nice
Thanks so much, Sharon!
I just love your videos!! Like everytime I swear❤.
I love this idea and cnt WAIT to do this. I'm getting ready to start a new journal and these will Def be added....thank you as always for sharing 😊
Shawn, you're always so kind, thank you so much!
Neat Ty for sharing ❤
Thanks for watching!
Very cool! Thank you!
Thank you, too, Carol!
Great idea!
Thank you, Heather! I hope you have fun with it!
I really like this idea! I’m wondering if you could use the faux vellum over pretty paper die cut shapes to make dangles? Coffee is a crafting must for me- nectar of the gods!
Great idea! So many possibilities here - have fun with yours, and thanks for watching!
Awesome!
Thank you! Cheers!
Hello Anne, have you tried a cheese grater for shredding the candles. Just a thought. Really love the pockets.
Thanks!! I did think about the cheese grater but didn't want to co-opt our only one from the kitchen - and I was doing fine with the craft knife. But I do see on here many folks do prefer grating, so....that's grate! (ha!) Thanks for watching.
I love this idea! So fun. I was thinking about the crayons idea, and maybe if you mixed the shavings with white candle shavings, it might be more shear? Just a thought. Reminds me of the Freezer paper technique, but different.
Thank you, Claire! Mixing in a little color might definitely make an interesting effect. I appreciate your thinking of it!
I love this vellum look! Thanks for sharing your template idea...so clever! 🥰🇨🇦
Thank you, Leah, I appreciate your watching!
I love this idea! I’ve watched others use beeswax! Is there a difference in using candle wax?
Wow, Barbara, I don’t know! I just used a candle since I had one on hand. But there are so many ways to do it, I’m learning! Thanks for watching! ❤️
Wow Anne, these are fantastic. How does the faux vellum handle die cutting? How about running through embossing folders? I would like to try this in some of my card making. Thanks so much. ❤ 🇨🇦 😊
Thanks, Brenda! I didn't try die cutting but I did use a circle punch on a few pieces - as long as I put a cardstock-weight piece in with the faux vellum, it punched just fine. I don't think I'd try die cutting anything too detailed, though. But it's an interesting thought, thanks for bringing it up.
@@annekenlon Thanks so much Anne.
Paraffin wax absolutely has chemicals, but what you’re breathing is likely minimal because you’re melting it rather than burning it.
Thanks, Jenn! I agree!
Love this effect but watching a different video the crafter found that with time the wax trasferred to other items within the journal.
That's interesting, Lynne, thanks for sharing that caution. I can see how, if you were storing your journal in a warm place, that some tissue paper wouldn't go amiss to protect other items.
What happens when you are in really hot climates like Texas? Thanks for video.
I honestly hadn’t thought of that earlier, Gayle, but if you store your journals in a hot environment, probably best to use regular vellum. Thanks for watching!
