I just subscribed - I guess since I'm snowed in - our first snowfall - I will spend it making vellum. The only reason I have candles and napkins is because I have seen other videos that teach making vellum. Your tutorial is so clear and easy. Thank you and hope I find other tips on your channel!!!!
Thank you so much! I have several tutorials on using candles to make vellum items, as well as other ways to make washi, hope you find them helpful. We are quite snowed in too, daughter off school again today and probably over a foot on the ground. Enjoy!
Excellent project & I will try it. I had to stop watching when the table was moving because I just had a bout of vertigo recently. I will come back to it another day to hopefully watch the whole process. I think your technique looks brilliant, easy & almost meditative. New subscriber. Happy to have found you! 😊
No, you are fine, we can see it well enough. I am just thankful for you making the video & showing us your method of doing it. I tried it with shaved wax but it was messy & uneven & time consuming. I prefer your technique 😀
Very beautiful effect on the napkins! I’ve actually melted some beeswax in a foil container using my heat gun & dipped paper into it which is a quick method, but I think ironing them afterwards like you do would give them that beautifully sheer even effect & ensure the wax isn’t so thick 🤔 Must try that. Never thought of doing napkins but they look stunning
Thank you for sharing this technique😊 I love this... Now for the big question.....what would you suggest would be some good ways to use this, in regards to junk Journaling? Just wondering what your thoughts are on this. Thank you in advance ❤
Thank you. I would use it just as a tactile page or element as it is not very strong. Or like regular washi keeping in mind it has to be glued. Or as an element in a specimen/slide to enjoy the transparency.
@@maryferrari-espressopressd7921 thank you for your response and those ideas. I will be using them and incorporating them in my junk Journaling adventure ❤️
I shave off shreds of wax and then iron, it's so kuch quicker, if the wax is too much I blot and iron onto newspaper to get rid of excess, u have to do a few trials
Thanks for commenting. That's a very old technique that if I remember correctly didn't work that well for lamination but no harm in trying. It will work with glue. There might be enough wax on wax paper to hold a napkin but I don't think there is enough wax to adhere paper. Some have ironed napkins on to plastic bags, I've never tried that.
Hi Mary, I just found your channel and haven't seen this technique before. Thank you for sharing. I am a new subscriber, so I look forward to viewing more of your videos I have a ton of napkins that I can give you. I use napkins different ways so have too many. Let me know. Have a great crafting day!
How sweet! That's very kind of you. I've been thinking of adding my address to my channel but was a little hesitant. The spam adds up so much on my site that I've had to forget about social interaction there but I do enjoy it, the paper crafting community is so nice.
Yes, give it a go. I'll use them as washi or just move them back to the dining room since I have already used them dozens of times and I am just tired of them taking up my drawer space.
I have used this technique for bookmarks and have never noticed a transfer even in hot sun. I would advise to make sure you blot off excess though, it appears like shiny dots, that potentially could if you didn't blot because it is laying on top of the already saturated paper or napkin. I didn't notice the excess on the napkin though.
@@r.c.miller6161 As shown and compared to paper a little bit more time consuming but my table wasn't the ideal place for ironing as I had layers of towel underneath and both go faster in the laundry room.
Thank you, you are welcome, adding the re-inforcement tips to description. I'm sure they will become a little less delicate then to use as pockets and such.
Yes, I don't think it would hold up anyway because it's too thin but I have hand stitched tissue paper in a journal and so far even with many page turns it has held together so I just can't say for sure.

Thank you. I know, I'm sorry, one of these days I have to purchase a craft iron and re-do these wax technique and wax paper videos.

@@jl4643 Thank you, yes a candle is much easier and I think you can get bees wax candles if you prefer that.
Thanks! I’m excited about trying this technique. These are beautiful!!!!

Glad it works for you.
How would black velum work? From serviette?
I never tried waxing actual vellum. From a black serviette I'm guessing the effect of the transparency would be limited as it is with other colors.
Just Magnificently Beautiful. I’m Truly So Very Very Happy That You Taught Me It. Thank You So Very Very Much. GOD Bless Your Sweet Heart.💜🙏🏻🦋
Thank you and for the blessing.
I wonder if you can just iron waxed paper onto the decorative paper?

I love the poppy napkin!
Thank you, gift from my MIL.

Love this effect. Iron temp?
it was high, probably linen, thank you

Does the wax on the waxed paper transfer on to other paper if the wax paper is sandwiched between two regular non waxed paper?

Pretty! Nice results but seems very time-consuming.

Thank you. A little under the weather but doing my best.
What temp is iron at?
It was on highest heat setting and dry.
❤️❤️❤️
I’m guessing you are just using the top ply of the napkin…🤔
Never mind you just answered me 😂😂😂
😮
Very beautiful! Thank you

The wax may gum up your sewing machine
