Huge thank you to LILYSILK, for sponsoring this video & supporting the channel! LILYSILK makes silk products like hair accessories, bedding, and clothing. If fabric is touching my face or hair, I prefer silk because it’s super smooth and glides across instead of tugging and roughing it up. You’ll see four of my favorite LILYSILK products in the video, but you can find way more options on their website.

Last year we started a journey to find the best and worst hair advice on the Internet. I’ve learned a LOT along the way, so I want to share with you the things that have made the biggest difference in my hair health. You’ll also see a few of my favorite skincare, nail, and makeup products that I’d call “game-changing” in my life, so hopefully you’ll find something “game-changing” for you, too. I originally started this list as a 2020 Holiday Gift Guide, but it evolved into something more, so not only are these things I’d recommend but also they make great gifts for people who like hair, skincare, or just general beauty products.

I have mascara smudged under my eye the entire video. 🤦🏼♀️ AHHH!! No, I don’t have a black eye. This is why I hate mascara. I can’t stop looking at it.
Lol I couldn’t see any mascara you are beautiful
Oooh would also love a video on olaplex!
Love lilysilk 🥰 using their products last 3 year 😍
Use eyelid primer! Robert Welsh explained that oil from eyelids transfer to lashes and break down mascara, causing smudging. Plus it makes eyeshadow look better.
I hate mascara too! I can’t used non waterproof cause I have allergies but waterproof damages my lashes so much!

You cannot get closer to Rapunzel than this lady ... the enormous braid, the eyes, the face, the smile -- you are the incarnation of Rapunzel, dear Sarah! Thank you for always showing such valuable haircare advice, and thank you for your friendly personality and your humor. It is a joy to watch! :) :) :)
one word: holistichabits
Imma look like a 18th century granny with that bonnet but I’ll be cute af
FINALLY someone giving long hair advice that actually has long hair . I havent cut my hair in 11 years not even a trim. It's to my knees and I LOVE that your dedicated to the truth and not just trendy tips SUBSCRIBED!
The bonnets are honestly so pretty. Silk is sooooo nice on the skin. When I used to have long hair, my dog would always try to use my braid as a dog toy 😂.
This is probably the prettiest one I’ve ever had. I love the color, and it feeeeels so nice. It’s literally still on my head right now. 😁
Hi
I have a quick question, does it need to be 100% real silk? Or can I use a cheaper alternative?
Definitely want to see the silicone video!
Yessss I still have more research to do on them, but what I’ve learned so far has been super fascinating and I am really excited to dig into it more
Age and thyroid dried my long german hair very far up the hair shaft. After one month of wearing a MOMME silk hair bonnet to bed, I was sold. My hair completely improved. My bonnet is double thickness. I have learned that silk is not silky on the wrong side. It is like any other fabric on the wrong side. So my first bonnet was doubled and I did not think anything of it. My second was a set of four from Amazon and they are single layer. So to be safest, I turn then inside out and wear the soft, silky side against my hair..
Amidst my obsession with silk, it only occurs to me now that I need a silk bonnet. This is what it means to go even further beyond. Thank you, Sarah. ❤️
I 100% do not understand why there are not more people subscribed to you and liking your content! You're energetic, informative, funny, and genuine. You keep it real with the research and the sources rather than just spitting "Drink more water". I really love how you're always inclusive of all hair types. Keep it up!
Thank you! So glad you recognize the work that goes into making it more than a “just drink more water” video 😅
I’m obsessed with how kind and cute you are! Just found out about your channel today after trying to do some hair care, and the science and your authenticity is a game changer!❤
tyssm i’ve been binging ur vids & it’s made me realise what’s going on w my hair 🤍✨😫
You're so gorgeous ❤️❤️ totally agree with silk caps! I'm a curly head so breakage and friz are my worst nightmare. But since wearing my silk sleeping caps to bed, my curls are literally perfect the next day and zero friz. I don't have to do anything except take my cap off and let my curls down and I'm out the door hehe. Silk bonnets are the number 1 thing that's helped me reach hair success :)
They are amazing!! Especially since you have curly hair, I can’t even imagine what a difference that must have made for you.
@@SarahIngleOfficial it's like night and day difference 😍
yes we need the silicone video! I am seeing a lot of talk about it online but I would really like to hear from your perspective!!
Hair and Beauty QUEEN! I am doing everything all wrong! Haha! Thank you for these amazing tips & product recs! 🙌🏼❤️
Thank you, Traci! ❤️ “Wrong” is totally subjective. You can do whatever makes you happiest to your hair. ☺️ Some of us just take certain parts of haircare to more extremes than others. 😆
Hair bonnets actually also prevent moisture loss and protect your hair from breakage as you toss and turn at night. I just started using them this year and have finally been able to get my hair passed the place it would always stop growing...by about 3 inches so far! I got mine off of Amazon but the ones I found work great. A game changer indeed!
For me, going silicone free was such a good decision! I already protect my hair pretty well (hair stick buns are the best but I love braids as well) and the silicones were weighing my hair down✨ BUT I don’t hate silicones, they are great to protect my hair when I go swimming!
I love using Viori rice water shampoo and conditioner bars. When I first started using them they detoxed my hair. I went from seemingly straight hair to a wonderful waviness to my hair I never thought I had. My hair is lighter and growing fast, as well as making new baby hairs grow like crazy. I love this stuff!
I love these tips❤️! The one thing I cannot live without are the Malibu C Hard Water Hair Treatment packets (I also use the Hard Water Wellness Remedy Shampoo and Conditioner occasionally)! These are an absolute must for anyone with hard water! I started using them about 3 months ago, and my hair looks and feels completely different already! They recommend using a packet once a week, but since I only wash my hair twice a week I use a packet every 2 weeks. This pulls all the minerals from the hard water out of the hair, leaving hair softer, shinier, and less tangled. The best part is that it gets rid of the orange tones (brass) left in the hair from mineral deposits, which is one of the main reasons why I use it. I love it!
I love it!!💖 we need a updated haircare routine✨💜
Thank you for this list! I'm also obsessed to everything silk and I really want to try Olaplex 0!
I completely trust you and I just started watching you videos. It means a lot that you go into the science of things and how advertising pushes us this way and that way when in reality we may not need these things
Girl you should have a billion subscribers. I am soooo glad I found your channel. 😊
I love you enthusiasm, passion and expressive body language
Merry christmas!!
Thank you for this video
I'm so excited that Olaplex 0 and 3 are on this list. Came on here just to see if they were because they have been lifesavers for my hair. Mine is relaxed, which causes quite a bit of damage. I kept having breakage on the ends, and I was trimming it faster than it could grow. Maddening for someone trying to grow really long hair. Anyway, my ends are staying so healthy and full since I started using Olaplex a year ago, and I'm nearly brastrap length now.
Too bad it's so damn expensive
Definitely make that silicone video pls. After your videos about the moisturizing-thing I thought that as long as it smoothed down the cuticles of the hair anything is fine
Would love to see a video on silicones! Loving all of your videos. I shaved half of my head in april and am trying to grow it out to be as healthy as I can! No more bleach, dye etc. It's the thickest it has EVER been now and almost to my shoulders. I need to get a silk bonnet!
Thank you for your information & your LilySilk selections! Just squeezed in before Feb4 & super easy to order! You are absolutely adorable! Love&Light from California 💗💗
Thank you sooo much for helping me with beauty as well as hair problems. You are a queen💖💞💞👑👑👑
Was literally about to go on a search for a night cap and found your video just in time. Thank you so much for the recommendations.
i’m really glad that the sponsor had nothing to do with your recommendations. so many creators will make recommendation videos and all of the products were given to them by sponsors
I’m soooo particular about brand deals. I’d be terrified to recommend anything I wasn’t completely in love with. If a company wanted a recommendation list to include only their products, I’d probably say no. I mostly worked with LilySilk because I’d already been recommending their products.
@@SarahIngleOfficial You’re saying the fact they sponsored AND four of the 21 products you recommend are sold by this company are unrelated? All while they sell making false claims because one their products are not 100% silk as they claim and two they have no oeko-Tex certification as they claim. If you are particular about brand deals and would actually research them you would know about this. So either you are not particular or you don’t care has to be one or the other.
Lash lifts are SERIOUSLY a game changer! I have straight lashes that don't curl with any other product and that mascara does absolutely nothing to. If someone is trying to look their best without makeup, a lash lift and tint is something I'd 1000% recommend.
They really REALLY are! I miss having mine done SO much. I think I miss lash lifts more than I miss Disneyland.
Lash lifts are incredible
My one hair tip is following a capillary schedule. Its a hair routine where you switch up what type of mask you do depending on your hairs needs. Also using a leave in conditioner after shower and protective hairstyles.
Omg finally all my prayers have been heard, thank you!!
YES! I’d love to see a video on silicones and your opinion on them - educate us please!!!
SARAH THANK U SOOOO MUCH I LOVE YOUR ADVICEEE YOU ARE AMAZING, YOU SAVED MY HAIR FROM DAMAGING💘💘
So glad it helps! I wish I had known a lot of this earlier so it’s great being able to share it and help you guys ❤️
I miss your videos!! Happy holidays to you!
The WaterStick in-shower water softener is the product you're looking for. I had the same issue as you with filters not really doing anything for the pH or mineral content . The WaterStick actually is a softener and you'll definitely be able to verify such w a water hardness test and pH test.
I've heard the same thing about the water stick filters. They are the ONLY filters that work as far as what I've read. I don't understand why she's mentioning and recommending ones that do nothing at all.
I forgot how much I enjoy watching your videos! You made my day within the first few minutes!!
Awwwww thank you!! 💜💜💜
subbed to you yesterday and you went from 80k to 82+k in 24 hrs. well deserved
I always learn so much from your videos Sarah! 🤗💕
Thank you so much, Aya! 🙏🏻💜
I love your aesthetic so much omg lol. I just found your channel and you're amazing :D You definitely would have my attention on an olaplex video. My hair is 3 feet long and pretty dang curly (like 3a 3b) and I'm still trying to find the right combination of product that perfects my routine. Also, I literally didn't even notice that your mascara was smudged until you said it haha
7:14 Haha! Didn't expect the Luke and Obi-Wan appearances!
I use the lilysilk bonnet! They are awesome, I really recommend it and I have knee length, fine tangley hair. I wake up with smooth not tangled hair.
Yessss!! Literally idk what took me so long to get with the program and start using one 😆
I don’t even care that much about hair.. i’m just here because it’s fun to watch sarah talking fast and making all sort of expressions 😬 really relaxing, thank you ☺️
You are probably the first person I’ve heard say it’s relaxing. Most people say my energy stresses them out 😆
@@SarahIngleOfficial no, it’s actually fun 😁 keep it up :D
Merry Christmas Sarah! Keeping my fingers crossed that we still get Brian does my voiceover in the new year! 🤞
Merry Christmas! That is definitely still on the list. I just need to find the right video topic for it where it makes sense.
I’ve been waiting for this thnx so much I love your vids and ur dog is adorable
Thank you! Hope these are helpful for you - and Punzie says thank you, too 😁🐾
Happy Holidays and Christmas, Sarah.
Happy First Day of Winter, Sarah. It's also the 83rd anniversary of Walt Disney's "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" today.
Goodness every video I hear you dropping little nuggest I am super keen to learn about like silicones, curly girl methods and curl types. Pleeease make em sooooooon!
I'd be interested in a video about the scalp. Like how the health of your scalp affect hair growth and how to keep it healthy. Or a video about how hair changes with age. My mothers hair started to get really frizzy and curly all of a sudden. I've read that this can happen but I'd like to know why that happens and how it (should?) change your hair care habits.
Ask your Mom to get checked out by a doctor. Hair changes are often caused by health changes.
If you are up for trying a mascara try a tubing one! Stays on all day, no smudging, and comes completely off with just warm water and a cloth. (Game changer for me and my natural dark under eyes)
Yessss finally!🙌🏼
love this ✨✨✨
I really love your energy!!!🥰
Can you do a review on the ordinary multi-peptide serum?
Thank you in advance 🦉
Yes I would like to see this review
I love you ❤️. Hope everything is going well with your new fur baby.
New subscriber and fellow long hair crazy person! I pretty much do everything you do already! Nice to know I am not alone. My hair reaches my top of my butt and it's the longest I've ever had it. I love it!!! It isn't the healthiest, but I am working on it more now that I understand hair health. Love your videos! Been binge watching the past hour. Your hair is gorgeous! Just watched Tangled last night with my baby boy and you look just like Rapunzel!
hey!! i love ur videos! they are very helpful :)) could u do a review of function of beauty and tell me if it’s good or not?
You have me making a whole Amazon wishlist with this list lol
Love your advice and channel ❤️
Sarah, I first heard about Hair Story from you, and just over one month in and I'm basically in LOVE!
Yay!!! I’m so glad! I need to order a new container of New Wash actually. 😆
hi! I love your videos and you are super informative and polite. I wanted to ask you if you can do a video on hair extension because I trust you. I know that is not something you are interested in but a dedicated video from you would be a lifesaver.
Hey! I love your videos! I have been watching your videos before corona!
I love your username and little penguin picture. 😁 Thanks for being part of the Queendom!
Hi, I got a silk pillow case when I got my new bed like 5-6 months ago and for the bedding I was thinking to get it all silk then I realized how expensive it was so I just stuck with the silk pillow case💖💖💖💖loving it so far and thank u for all the helpful videos, also Merry Christmas and a happy new year to Punzie, you and your whole family💖💖💖💖and everyone else out there to💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Now I want those videos about hair loss. I've been dealing with it for about a year now. And I NEED those videos
That is absolutely in the works. It may have to be a whole series just on hair loss because it’s a LOT. Complex issue with a lot of different varieties.
@@SarahIngleOfficial you are a Jaan. 😍😍
Can you do a video on the different Apple cider vinegar shampoos and conditioners? Love to see the different PH balances and which one you would recommend.
My caucasian hair had been getting dry once I turned 50. I am trying to learn how to bring it back and I bought a silk bonnet 8 months ago and have not "needed" to trim it since. I have been using Viori shampoo/conditioner bars for two months. I wash my hair twice weekly. My hair just looks better. It does not look fab yet.
i cant believe i just found your channel. i just love your personality and then once i saw the star wars reference I'M SOLD! subscribed!
Hi! Could you do a video on silicones and if they are damaging to your hair or which ones are/aren't?
Your videos are really good! Thanks
I've been eyeing this tek brush ever since Sarah from holistic habits mentioned it on her channel. And now this Sarah recommends too.
I actually don’t like that brush now and won’t use it anymore. The wood was a horrible idea. 😆 The wide gaps were great, but especially after a while, the wood just was not smooth enough and caused an excessive amount of extra friction
i hated my TEK brush! within days the black part was popping out of the base, and i had to superglue it a few times to keep it together. i don’t know…it felt like it pulled my hair. i’ve been using a tangle teaser brush (the “wet” version, and i brush my hair when conditioned in the shower) and like it a lot!
I just really appreciate the Obi cameo
I'd love to hear your thoughts on Olaplex No4 (shampoo) and Olaplex No5 (Conditioner). I absolutely RUINED my hair recently from leaving nanobead extensions in my hair too long. When they were taken out the other day.....sadly most of my hair came out with them because of mattes that formed above the beads. Now I am left with the thinnest hair I've had in my entire life (it looks awful) and I'm going to use Olaplex to try and nurture my remaining hair back to life. I'm curious about the science behind the ingredients they use (especially for the shampoo and conditioner). I'd love to see a video about that. Thanks so much for putting out reliable content. I really appreciate it!
What do you think of finger detangling? Is it a better alternative to combs and brushes.
yesss video about sillicones
Thank you so much for the time stamps in the description!!...I know it takes a very long time to mention so many time stamps....
I’m so glad you noticed! I usually put them in for the hair science videos and I never know if anyone sees them or ever looks at the description. 😆
The tonning drop is so good. I use the blue one. But it's a hair makeup. So it doesn't work well with shampoo. I like to use it with leave-in conditioner and styling products.
Omg BeneTint is old school!! I love it!! It totally works so well!!!
It’s a classic for a reason! 👍🏻✨
Right at the end you talked about Orange County Downtown Sugar, I am actually moving to Orange in April so I will be sure to check it out! Thank youuuu
A few things that helped with my hair growth was apple cider vinegar clarifying shampoo. I only used it when I had product build up or my hair was (disgustingly) greasy. It made it shiny & felt very clean, but not stripping it of natural oils.
Also when my hair felt a bit dry, I used a co-wash, instead of normal shampoo. So for me, on the day of shampooing, it was assessing what my hair looked/felt like & then using the correct kinda shampoo to what my hair needed.
I definitely agree with silk products, these look amazing! I haven’t used silk products yet, but I have heard great things.
I definitely agree with microfibre towels/turbans.
I think taking vitamins helps too, as realistically, you aren’t always going to get all the vitamins your body needs everyday to maintain great hair or hair growth, so vitamins is a great back up.
One product that I used that is a game changer if you have damaged hair is Naturtint anti-age CC cream! Definitely check it out. It’s a game changer if you have damaged hair!
Lily silk is awesome 🤩, I have some of them and so satisfied 👍even their clothes are awesome 🤩 also bene tint is perfect I Addicted to rose one
Your funny and sweet. I love how informative and related your videos are. I enjoy watching your videos ❤❤☺☺ My oldest daughter is 29 and her eyelashes are naturally too the moon and curly without any mascara..... What works for me is the Garnier Fructis Aloe Vera Detangling Air Dry Spray because I have extremely thick curly hair this dries it so quickly and it's easier to get a brush through it. I use it through out mid fall until mid spring
I would love to see a review on poseion shower head and filter system! It might be that magical (but expensive) shower system! I found it after watching a couple of your videos
Just ordered my mom and myself some goodies from LilySilk!!!!! ❤️
can’t wait for it all to come!
...now to get some Olaplex...
😁
Sarah, I wasn't ready for this to be uploaded, but I'm early.
Surprise! Thanks for getting here right away! 😁
@@SarahIngleOfficial I appreciate it.
Please do a sulfate and silicone video. 😩💜💜💜 ps I hope you had an AMAZING holiday. 🥰🥰
Wait! I need this silicones video!! PLEASE
Am I the only one that just throws my hair up in a bun to shower when I’m not washing it 😅
No!😂😅
The best shampoo:Calia, sulphate and paraban free🥰🥰
@Kathryn yeah😂 but I really really like Calia, I've been using it now for about a year and I'm amazed 💓
When you recommend 'the best' hair product for you, it's really useful for the rest of us if you give us an idea what hair type you have. Obviously, the best shampoo for oily straight hair isn't gonna the same for über dry curly hair etc. Can I ask what your hair type is and what this shampoo does for you that others don't/havent?
Omg can you please do a video on your opinions on the whole olaplex brand ?! 😁
another reason why wooden brushes are better for hair, it is very sciency, but there's this thing called the triboelectric charge table. basically, when you rub two things together there is a transfer of electrons and the triboelectric charge table tells you whether the thing you rubbed against another thing will be positively charged (loose electrons) or negatively charged (gain electrons). hair and wood are both on the positive side of the triboelectric charge table and so when they rub together there will be a lesser exchange of electrons and less static friction in comparison to plastic and hair as plastic is lower on the table and is negative. therefore with less static friction, the effect of rubbing together is less so less damage.
I hadn't heard of any other silk stuff companies before this, so when I got 4 pillowcases, they came from Blissy. I only thought about what color would go with any sheets they were paired with, so I got white. A quick glance at my profile pic should tell you that that was a bad idea. XD Now the 2 that are forever stained purple are mine, and the ones that are still (mostly) white are my husband's. I also got the sleep mask (in black), and while it would've been nice to be able to adjust the size, it's still really good.
Love that lip tint it’s lovely. The body shop do 2 nice ones too
I love your videos!! Could you do a video on castor oil??
Hi, I have just watched some of your videos and had to follow right away! Love your tips, but when you talk about hair brushes you say that you should get a brush that have wider the bristles. But the Mason Pearson brushes with boar bristles is famous for brushing each strand of hair and distrubiting your oil to each strand. It is loved by so many and is said to be the absolute best and gentlest to your hair. I have thought that that sound contrasting from what you say that science says. Can you talk about that? xx
Can you recommend any naturally scented or unscented hair products? 🥰
Omg yes I love lily silk! I have the same color pillow case and hair cap 😂
For curly hair, I love Innersense brand for hair care!
