I used to have the same kind of hair and hair problems basically all my life! and I can tell you using the curly girl method for styling hair after it’s out of the shower is a game changer. I don’t necessarily use all the CGM product rules (I definitely use shampoo) but it’s the techniques you use for your hair at the very end and immediately after washing your hair that make all the difference to making your hair curly and nice not a puffy mess like mine used to be! Watch all the yt videos on curly girl routines and experiment for a long time. It takes a long time to figure out what works but I eventually did and never knew it was possible for my natural hair to look decent :)

I'm super late here but honestly, this man gives y'all countless hours of entertainment and you can't let him talk about his own products for 20 minutes??? I thought all the looks turned out cute and it's way healthier than blow drying your hair on hot all the time.
I honestly don’t even know what my hair is. Sometimes the bottom is nice and wavy. Sometimes it forms random waves all over the place and it looks like a hot mess, and sometimes it’s just straight.
Same here, my hair used to be long but I chopped it shoulder length. I feel like these techniques won't work on me. I woke up one morning with this random ass wave on my side fringe and it looked so retarded 😂
Right? I think they'd be fake sounding coming from someone else, but from Brad they feel genuine. I really appreciate that he takes the time to start his videos this way.
Brad: "Water imported from france" My head: "Iced tea imported from England, Lifeguards imported from Spain, Towels imported from Turkey, Turkey imported from Maine"
I would LOVE to see this from brad- a series that his fans send him videos of their hair with a detailed description of their hair with like hair type, color, if it’s frizzy, if it’s been dyed, like all of the above. Then he would give us advice for the color, shampoos, products, even a good length and part to try. I think it would be a really cool like hair makeover series. 😆
I have curly hair and I feel rlly happy when I find curly hair tutorials , I started wearing my hair natural not too long ago and I don't rlly know how to style it :/
i’m the same for the not being able to find tutorials but for me it’s because i have very very thick medium-short hair and it’s not like straight it’s slightly wavy but in a way that looks dented رحــمــة
This was one big XMondo ad, which is fair enough, it’s his product so why not. But it’s not available everywhere so it would be nice to see some other products that’s more available to more people too as an alternative. Could’ve done half of one side using xmondo and the other half using another product.
You buy it on the internet, isn’t that available anywhere? People watch him from around the world, he’d have to use only products sold in stores world wide but he’s going to prefer beauty salon professional grade products anyway because that’s what he’s familiar with.. if we already own mousse or spray that we like using then obviously we’ll do these techniques with that..
LivinOnTheEdge yeah but his products are also considered pricey for a lot of people so it would be nice to see this done with some products you can find at Ulta or drug store brands.
Sierra's Lisp that’s a great suggestion so maybe he will one day but I also think that now that we know what the end result should look like that we’re more than capable of trying out products in our own price ranges. . You can go buy whichever product you can afford.
My wave tech just came in the mail today and so i was watching this video as a tutorial. Now that it has dried and I can see the results, WOW. My 2A hair is now a 2C and has never looked so good in its natural state
He forgot to mention the most important rule for trying to achieve this, especially on the first method. Once you have scrunched and begin the air dry process, DONT TOUCH IT! Like AT ALL until it is dry. The more you mess with it while its trying to dry, the greater the chance for frizz.
I scrunch mine until it’s dry . It gives it more waves and volume and if it’s frizzy then I use his viper smoothing oil (one pump) and put it though out my hair
Makes me wonder how toxic water is in America so they need to import WATER from Europe. What do they let in their waters. And still I'd think there's ways to make pure water with today's technology. 🤔
Dude same! Even with product it can look like tropical Monica! Idk what the problem is! And people are like oh just brush it and it’ll smooth out. UM NO! That makes it a million times worse! Like if tropical Monica and Hagrid has a baby that put its finger in a socket and then went through a wind tunnel. That’s me with no/the wrong products/brushing after attempting to style
I usually just flip my head upside down: -put some product in -braid it off the front/top of my head and then halfway through I feed in some strips of fabric in (make sure the strips go past the length of your hair) So instead of putting a hair tie an inch before the ends of your hair, you’re braiding and securing the ends of the fabric so there’s no straight/kinked ends from the hair tie... and also this helps keep the waves the same size instead of them gradually getting smaller down the length of the hair cause the hair gets thinner towards the ends whether there’s layers or breakage. ☺️ just what I’ve been doing a while 😁 it helps!
I listen to these video’s before I sleep like Asmr mostly Brad but Bob Ross has a great calming voice to... I nomally don’t even watch haha except like now and few weeks ago... but he still get’s the coin so yeah haha
Agreed! I get all excited about a product and then he lists out all the fragrances it combines and I shudder. 😬 I wish more people were mentioning this so he might have a chance of actually seeing our feedback.
Tried wavetech today. But I totally did it on DRY hair lol... cuz I didn't want to wet my hair (just colored it with xmondo color in coral and let it air dry), but wanted to try it anyway! So on dry hair it was kinda sticky but it freakin made my waves look GORGEOUS WITH SO MUCH VOLUME!! And yes it smells like a dream...I can't stop shaking my head to smell it.
Hey Brad I cannot thank you enough for this video. I tried the twist/bun method and OMG! Two days later my hair is still holding its curl and bounce. No frizz. ❤️
Oh, sorry, I didn't see this. The brand is Wellaflex, bought it from Carrefour. I practically use every day and made me fall in love with my natural waves, but I recommend using it moderately, otherwise the hair looks kinda stiff lol

Elisa Tamtam not all straight hair is lucky. I hate my straight hair. It is thin and never dries really straight. My head is too big for my very thin hair it looks funny 😂😂😂
Here’s my extensive list of what I use to air dry my hair… Step 1: expose wet hair to air Step 2: maybe comb it, maybe throw it in a bun, maybe scrunch using hands and air Step 3: leave exposed to air until dry Step 4: BLAM!!! Air dried hair… in whatever form IT decides to take 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes: 1. rub that towel on my scalp ignoring everything about that being bad 2. Make a nice turban (again ignoring anything saying that that’s bad) 3. keeping it like that until i brush my teeth and it’s time to get dressed 4. unwrap hair, try something that’s supposed to be scrunching 5. Admire the waviness, put on a T-shirt, watch the waves disappear slightly 6. let it actually air dry 7. And brush when it’s dry bc if I brush when it’s wet any natural waves will leave me 😂 And my hair is thin af so if I even just think of putting any product in my hair it loses its will to live and will just be completely flat... 🤣
My version: wash hair wrap in a t-shirt til the worst of the drip is out finger comb stand outside for half an hour on a sunny day or in front of a heat source whatever happens, happens
Don't you get frizz? I'm pretty much the same as I hate having to do any maintenance other than wash and air dry. I have to use a leave in conditioner and I am still trying to find something for my wavy, frizzy hair.
How could anyone watch this man and NOT be in a good mood instantly, just from his enthusiasm he shows.!?! Not possible, I would bet.He never fails to bring a smile to my face.
Totally not how we scrunch hair or "HOW" you're supposed to do it at least. I've been doing the CGM (Curly Girl Method) for about the past 2 years and my hair has never been healthier; also it actually grows faster now. I have super thick hair which aggravates my migraines terribly and I have tried to pick styles that are low maintenance; like the "wolf cut" coupled with a balayage touch up as needed. However I still have fall out even after taking care of my hair I've switched brushes multiple times I use conditioner in the shower then detangle with wide tooth comb. Any suggestions?
@@PositivityBreathes obviously we know that’s not how you’re supposed to do it we watched the video. But I know plenty of girls that scrunchies their hair like that. I don’t thanks to Brad😊
I wouldn’t rwally call those bantu knots. They look more like buns to me. Bantu knots are smaller and usually have more height. So I wouldn’t claim that as a bantu knot.
@@albanydale1148 As long as the technique is the same, it's called what it is no matter the size portion of hair used. Bantu knots can be large or mini, depending on your hair type, density and texture.
Can you post on how to preserve it? I have thick wavy hair, like an “S” curl. But after day 1 it just looks like a bird nest. I don’t know how to maintain it over night. If I comb it out, it’ll be a complete mess.
It sounds like we have the exact same type of hair! I sleep with my hair in a loose braid and it doesn't affect my texture, but it prevents a lot of tangles. Also, I refresh my hair every morning by running a damp, wide tooth comb through my hair. After that I scrunch with glitterati and my hair looks freshly air-dried and it only takes me about 2 min. to do my hair!
Allyson Carlton thanks! I’m always afraid of running water, thinking it might cause frizz. Have any products you recommend for frizz? I think that’s my biggest enemy lol
I tend to turn my hair upside down into a square silk scarf into a triangle for night. Tying it at the nape of my neck. The next day I just use a water squirter (my bottle is for plants) and spritz away. Some nesty days the water is really dripping from my hair. Then I scrunch, pin and go. I’m lazy. And not a morning person.
@@troyklk7734 Oh I have definitely battled frizz with how dry and crazy my hair can get. My absolute favorite product for frizz is VO5 Conditioning Hairdressing for Normal/Dry Hair. I've only ever seen it in a few drugstores, so you might have to order it off Amazon, but it's less than $10. It's literally amazing. It looks like a weird tube of toothpaste, but I swear that a pea-sized amount of that stuff does more for my dry, frizzy hair than a handful of argan oil. I warm a tiny bit up on my hands and run it over my ends and then use the excess to smooth over my frizz. It stays away all day long! Just make sure you only run the excess over the frizz or you might look a little greasy. :)
Great video - thanks for sharing these techniques! The second one took me back to my teenage years when perms were all the rage. My mum wouldn't let me have a perm because I was too young but I wanted curly hair so I used to braid my hair every night and comb it out in morning. And while it seems a lot to say I did 20-25 braids before I went to bed each night, I got pretty fast at it and could do it in no time. By the time I got up in the morning my hair was dry and I had lovely curly hair. Even the ends were curly as I would wrap those around pipe cleaners. The things we girls do to look fashionable eh?! :)
I don’t like how cheep product feels and I can’t even afford products from target lol. Sometimes I put a drop of conditioner in wet, clean hair and I don’t wash it out and it works just fine!
I always put my hair up in a bun at night. Originally it was just because I wanted to keep it from tangling up, but now, that my hair is longer this method creates a really nice soft wave in my hair.

If you wonder: All of Brads products contain silicone or polyquaternium (film building products) which is a no no in curly hair community. All I use is flax seed gel which I cook myself. And Sea salt spray? Please...
I feel like I am entering another milestone of adulting: finally voluntarily choosing to stop doing literally nothing to my hair, and actually put in some effort to look my best. UPDATE: oooooohhhh my god guys. I tried the curly girl method on my mostly-straight-with-weird-kinks hair, and I actually have big curly 2B/2C waves! *Definitlely* look into it.

@@writtenbyfitzgerald My hair is still growing out from a pixie cut (it's a bob rn) so I can't really plop it yet. But I use Maui Moisture's shampoo and conditioner, Shea Moisture protein and moisture masks, and NYM Curl Talk cream and gel after showering.
Same. Although I haven’t gone full into the method yet, (too busy) but I changed my shampoos for ones that are CG method approved and my hair has randomly started to curl LOL it only took me 26 years to figure that if my dad has curly hair and my mom has straight hair, there was a chance I have wavy hair 😂
I'm a naturally curly girl. I always air dry my hair and I use Fructis Sleek and Shine. It keeps me from getting frizzy and my curls look amazing. Thanks for sharing Brad.
It’s true. Whether you love your natural hair or you hate it, you need product in your hair. Everyone can benefit from product in their hair. Argan oil is the way to go!

I’ve recently fallen in love with my naturally curly/wavy hair and I actually recently, just by discovery, have been trying something very similar to the third one you did minus the product cause all the products I’ve used in the past have just made my hair get greasy to quickly or made it crunchy but I’m super intrigued by your wave tech! Might have to give it a try!
When you mentioned that everyone can love their natural hair I was like there is no way i could like mine. but I'm not even kidding I tried this today (I usually have reaaalllyy frizzy hair and recently found out it's naturally curly but don't know how to manage it) and this changed my life . My hair was not frizzy!! 🙏
@@yousra6532 I don't touch my hair with a towel anymore and that is the best secret for frizzy hair I've found. Then I keep my hair super wet, comb all tangles out, put in herbal essences mouse, and scrunch it. Then either air dry or use a diffuser on your hair dryer. And don't brush it
I've been mixing a little leave-in conditioner with a strong gel in my palm, and fingering it through my hair. If it's really dripping, I'll sometimes pat the ends with a microfiber towel. Then I lean back in a chair for ten minutes. That's it. (The conditioner thins out the gel for a more even coverage. Without a cream type conditioner mixed in, half my hair will dry frizzy, and half will be hard and look wet.) My hair can form ringlets if I coat each strand separately while they're soaking wet and if they're separated enough not to touch other locks. But otherwise (because I'd gotten tired of spending so much time on it and now I just finger it through without separating), my hair usually dries in a weird back and forth pattern. Mostly. Sometimes I can find three or four different curl patterns on the same lock of hair, because my hair is crazy. haha, at 11:54 that's pretty much how my hair looked when I used to try getting it as straight as possible by brushing it while wet. I'm surprised by how frizzy it looks, even with 'no frizz'. I think it looks nice with the second product in, though. I might change my mind. The second method's finish might look more like me with straight hair. Yeah, that resembles the "poofy" and "afro" I was made fun of for during my teen years. Pin-straight hair was in at the time (if only I had been born in the 70's instead of the 80's). And though someone had once given me a flat iron as a gift, it took way too much time and effort just to do my bangs. Plus my hair's too dry for that much heat. 19:41 it's Rey! From Star Wars. The finished look is nice on that last one. I like it. The bun thing worked out really nice.
Apply product when your hair is still *wet*, before you wrap it up. I apply product to hair just out of the shower and wrap it in a t-shirt. Works really well for my fine hair :)
PicturesquePrincess What do you use? I have baby fine hair and already have ZERO volume and products either make my hair seem greasy or even flatter...if that’s possible
I haven’t used any heat on my hair since I straightened it for my sister’s wedding in January 2019. My hair looks crazyyyyyyyy if I blow dry it and don’t straighten it after. The 6-8 hour drying time sucks, but it’s worth it.
Brad, I love watching you in your videos. I don’t own a hair dryer, bc my daughters always took them & never gave them back. But now that they’re grown, I asked for Wavetech, Salty & The pink balm for Christmas. I usually get a body wave perms twice a year, to give me volume. I have very fine thinning hair from thyroid disease & I can’t wait to use your products to make my hair look beautiful. Thank you so much & Never stop being You! Muah! 💓
Hahaha.... I have a baby who is teething and not sleeping and all I want is a shower and to be able to wash my hair but also sleep, so as I'm listening to thus as I do dishes snsvhe days I look fabulous I legit responded with, ”F*** off already.” 😂😂
Y’all gotta stop talking bad about yourselves in these comments 😂 we get it, you’re eating and crying but you’re still beautiful so stfu with your pretty asses.
Whenever I sleep with my hair wet I wake up with beautiful frizz free wavy hair. I have no idea why this happens. When I air dry it during the day I look like a troll.
Omg same here! I have naturally curly hair, and I’ve discovered that if I I shower in the evening and keep it wrapped up in my (microfiber lol) towel right up until I go to sleep, it looks so good! Like if I shower during the day and do the same, it doesn’t come out as good without products, but something about sleeping in wet hair works lol
Thank you for reminding us to love our natural hair. It means so much, and after so much stigma and commercial beauty defining the standards, it’s refreshing to see you making sure we know how to maintain and love our hair ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️love you Brad!
Are you kidding me?????? This is going to change my life! My hair is fine, blonde, dead straight, typical ‘Scandi’ hair. I love an overnight wave so I’ve got more time in the morning. Can’t wait to try the last technique. Also…. using the clips for volume?!? Dead. Such a good idea. THANK YOU BRAD 🙏
YesSSSS! It's get the best results but IT TAKES FOREVER TO FRICKEN DRY. And you can't blow dry it because it doesn't get the middle anyway. Although I do like Brad's idea of more section- would give tighter curls but probs dries faster
Doesn't taken mine 3 days then again, I've always taken it out after ~12 hours and it's still damp, never ever have I gotten to be dry when I take it out. And since it's damp, it looks PERFECT. But then it slightly dries and AGH THE FRIZZ RETURNS. It does lessen the frizz though, especially if you use a leave in conditioner or some form of anti frizz product
The bun method (or a french braid) worn overnight to dry works pretty well with no product on my hair to make nice waves with less frizz (my hair is naturally wavy and very frizzy). Worth a try, anyway, since it won't cost you anything except the couple of minutes to put it in a bun or braid it!
Ikr. I still get unsettled when I see how little hair other people really have, when he twists half of the mannequins hair into a strand as thick as one of my side bangs, uhhh what? If we're going by thickness I think I need a section per square cm. 😆😭
Brad, I know this is 2 yrs old, but I just happened upon this one and wanted to tell you how great you look in this video. I also like the calm tone of voice. Hair and skin look exceptional! Luscious hair and healthy glow.

i’m the same for the not being able to find tutorials but for me it’s because i have very very thick medium-short hair and it’s not like straight it’s slightly wavy but in a way that looks dented رحــمــة
you make me love my natural hair
Yes!! All hair types are gorgeous, I mean what gave hair the right to be so beautiful? Haha
That’s all good and well for you guys in the USA but for us in the uk getting it only from his site then means expensive shipping and customs charges
Pauline Moira okay then that makes sense why you said this. I was very confused..

Exactly!!!
Learned this the hard way lmao
I scrunch mine until it’s dry . It gives it more waves and volume and if it’s frizzy then I use his viper smoothing oil (one pump) and put it though out my hair
You mean he actually gets to methods? I'm at 5:00 and still harping on products.

@@kierasaurusfrost argh..the story of my life
You should all try the curly girl method! You probably have wavy or curly hair but don't know it.
I usually just flip my head upside down:
-put some product in
-braid it off the front/top of my head
and then halfway through I feed in some strips of fabric in (make sure the strips go past the length of your hair)
So instead of putting a hair tie an inch before the ends of your hair, you’re braiding and securing the ends of the fabric so there’s no straight/kinked ends from the hair tie... and also this helps keep the waves the same size instead of them gradually getting smaller down the length of the hair cause the hair gets thinner towards the ends whether there’s layers or breakage. ☺️ just what I’ve been doing a while 😁 it helps!
Tip for the curly girls: do the twisty method but not combining the strands, take a strand and just twist it, gives u really defined coils xoxo
What if you have waves?
@@missgalaxie7779 I have wavy hair. It doesn't really work for us. Scrunching is the best way to go👍😘

Here’s my extensive list of what I use to air dry my hair…
Step 1: expose wet hair to air
Step 2: maybe comb it, maybe throw it in a bun, maybe scrunch using hands and air
Step 3: leave exposed to air until dry
Step 4: BLAM!!! Air dried hair… in whatever form IT decides to take 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes:
1. rub that towel on my scalp ignoring everything about that being bad
2. Make a nice turban (again ignoring anything saying that that’s bad)
3. keeping it like that until i brush my teeth and it’s time to get dressed
4. unwrap hair, try something that’s supposed to be scrunching
5. Admire the waviness, put on a T-shirt, watch the waves disappear slightly
6. let it actually air dry
7. And brush when it’s dry bc if I brush when it’s wet any natural waves will leave me 😂
And my hair is thin af so if I even just think of putting any product in my hair it loses its will to live and will just be completely flat... 🤣
Lmao sounds like a good plan to me 😛
My version:
wash hair
wrap in a t-shirt til the worst of the drip is out
finger comb
stand outside for half an hour on a sunny day or in front of a heat source
whatever happens, happens
Don't you get frizz? I'm pretty much the same as I hate having to do any maintenance other than wash and air dry. I have to use a leave in conditioner and I am still trying to find something for my wavy, frizzy hair.

😂 He nailed it.
So basically:
1. Wash and go....ish
2. Twist out
3. Bantu Knots
All solid ways to avoid heat styling tools
@Allison Pack i never knew that they had a name!
I've rarely seen a white person actually call it what it is... Hope folks learn to call it correctly and not erase its roots.
I wouldn’t rwally call those bantu knots. They look more like buns to me. Bantu knots are smaller and usually have more height. So I wouldn’t claim that as a bantu knot.
@@albanydale1148 But I'm so bad at doing Bantu knots that they end up looking like these buns 🥴
This doesn’t always work but putting your hair in a twisty bun and sleep can help! 😉

which method did you try?
Without a cream type conditioner mixed in, half my hair will dry frizzy, and half will be hard and look wet.)
My hair can form ringlets if I coat each strand separately while they're soaking wet and if they're separated enough not to touch other locks.

Same!!! It’s bizarre
I can relate lol
'How To Air Dry Your Hair Properly'

Brad: if you’re not using products to air dry your hair well that’s so embarrassing I feel bad for u
My broke ass: 👁👄👁
Irish Girl same 😂😂 but i feel like hairdressers forget that you actually need to buy that shit. And i cen tel u sometimes its very expensive😕😬
Thank you for reminding us to love our natural hair. It means so much, and after so much stigma and commercial beauty defining the standards, it’s refreshing to see you making sure we know how to maintain and love our hair ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️love you Brad!
The way brad just described how people scrunch their hair is literally how I did it before this vid and I honestly feel so attacked right now 😂
The caveman sounds make it so real. 😂
I thought I was being 🦥 in how I scrunched... Yay, me, doing it correctly!
I thought the same thing lol.@@Fluffisnoterm
GIVE US THE SECRETS TO RACHEL GREEN’S HAIR BRAD, WE NEED IT!
I know: get someone to do your hair every day lol
Yessssssss
I’m so glad to see him using a mannequin with average hair, I see so many hair tutorials with women who have naturally thick and luxurious hair!
Or extensions..
5:43 Wish all the boys I’ve dated have given me a warning like this 😂
OMG HAHA
OOF, and same, but girls too 😩💀
This needs to be a meme 🤣
Are you kidding me?????? This is going to change my life! My hair is fine, blonde, dead straight, typical ‘Scandi’ hair. I love an overnight wave so I’ve got more time in the morning. Can’t wait to try the last technique. Also…. using the clips for volume?!? Dead. Such a good idea. THANK YOU BRAD 🙏
Loosely rolls up for curls ... 3 days later "should be dry"...damp in the middle
🤣 exactly
You have low porosity hair lol
Oh my gosh, this is me lol it sucks
Okay so I've learned my hair reflects my bank account
The bun method (or a french braid) worn overnight to dry works pretty well with no product on my hair to make nice waves with less frizz (my hair is naturally wavy and very frizzy). Worth a try, anyway, since it won't cost you anything except the couple of minutes to put it in a bun or braid it!
Yeah! When I had long hair I would braid it over night and it would be wavy by morning.
Same-long curly hair here 🙆
You don't need his products letting buns or braids air dry with no product will get the same results.
@@Flawlesslmperfection I really wish I knew how to french braid😔
Brad needs to do part 2 of this for thick hair... and i mean THICK hair. all his mannis have very thin hair ;-; were suffering here.
Yessssss
yes.
YES
If I wash my hair before work in the morning it's still damp at bedtime 😂
"don't scrub your hair with a towel. don't EVER do that"
ok jesus sorry
i feel like i've been living my entire life wrong
Same tho lol
* Jesus *
I'm so sad Brad only suggests products from his brand now
I know right 🤦🏻♀️ Just self promotion now
I mean, his products are really good, but not very affordable unfortunately
@@justaperson1998 yes. every broke student can relate. :(
When you have a brand you kinda do products that are everything that you ever wanted, so yeah, I see the point in him promoting his products.
Layla Christina that’s what I was thinking like I mean if I had my own brand I’d do the same thing lmao
My breath stopped when he combed the hair after it's dry
All curly girls know it is a big no-no😭
Vintage waves tutorials making curlies cringe.
@@angrytrees7519 hahaha I have curly hair and I do vintage wet sets all the time 😅
Omg, *YES!* My hair can get *SO* frizzy if I did that
Me with air dry = looks like a poodle.
Me with with air dry + comb = looks like poodle shoved in electric outlet.
@@MiscreantRose same
I actually twisted my curly hair last night and had no idea what to do with it this morning 🥴 Of course I automatically came to visit Brad because I knew he would have an answer. Brad is and will forever be my hair guy. Best stylist ever!
