  • A detailed review of the Stalker tree climber / tree stand / climbing tree stand / from Muddy. (The Muddy Stalker)
    I bought this treestand because (1) it was very affordable at $200, (2) it was strong and sturdy with a weight capacity of 300lbs, (3) it was very light (15lbs and packable). I am satisfied with the purchase and would recommend it.

    I recently purchased one of these after looking at almost every stand out there. I intend to use mine for trimming tree branches on my property as i "park out" my place. This stand has some important features for that purpose besides the price. The first is the folding sides actually follow the diameter of the tree more accurately without binding. the down side is on narrow trees it closes up the seating area. The next thing I like over all the others is the cable system which upon close inspection is identical to the Loggys and similar to Summit. In my case I wanted to be able to get longer cables for larger trees. I called my wire rope supplier and they can make any length with the barrel stops I want. The Equalizer I believe for the price point is the best and most well thought out, but I can't get longer cables. Someone mentioned not being able to adjust this up the tree for level...the only difference between this and Summit is 90 degrees of insertion....the truth is it is a risky procedure in any case. I bought mine at Joes Sporting Goods Online for $159 + $6.00 shipping.

    I just got this stand if any one has this stand you need to add a rope to keep top and bottom together just in case the bottom slips when climbing or it can fall to the ground and there you sit no way down

    The cable looks almost identical to the summit. That looks like a really nice climber. My wife bought me the mini viper by summit and it weights 18lbs. The only down fall is the plat form is shorter than the normal one. With long legs it kinda sucks but its an awesome climber too!!

    I Love climber stands! I Don’t love that my API is about 35lbs, awkward and loud, even after modifications. I’m definitely gonna give this one a look. Thanks for the review

    good review. I just bought this stand a month ago and I could not find a good review on here, so thanks for that. I replaced my back pack straps with ones from my old summit climber. I feel they are better quality and more comfortable. I weighed the stand with my home scale it weighs exactly 20lbs. So how they got the 15 i'm not sure. I have zero negative things to say about this stand though. if there is a gripe it cost $200, half of what top climbers cost, so keep that in mind. I own a summit climber and choose this stand over it.

    Awesome! Thanks for the video review. I just purchased the same stand on sale at Cabela's for 109.00 + free Shipping using promo code 7Holiday. I'm exited, can't wait to get it to the woods.
    Have you used yours much since your purchase and how are you liking the 20 lb weight?

    Excellent job on your video, I appreciate you taking the time to make this video. I subbed you as well. Keep us informed since you have had the stand for a while, I am narrowed down to three, all close in design to this one.
    Thanks again,

    Waaaaaaay too "busy" a system. Looks great. Has a lot of the aesthetic features of the Loggy Bayou... but climbing a tree with a tapering diameter.... way too many multi-step adjustment points and componentry to adjust the wire "down" to tree taper while ascending.... and with this system the wire strap can come completely away from the stand during adjustment. No recovery from that. I would imagine the answer to the tree taper adjustment with this stand is to NOT perform a mid-climb taper. Been looking at this to outfit my son.... nothing competes with the functionality of a Loggy. Thanks for posting this though.... very informative.

      I just used mine for the first time today and I would agree with your assessment. It is a very busy system. I’m not sure how quick or quietly I could set it up in the dark.

    Did you by happen to get a older model of the muddy stalker? Looking online n most have the chain type instead of the cable now. I was gonna order one as my nearest cabela is a good drive 2hr away lol but didnt like how the chain look that comes wit it n would prefer the cable like yours

    • @yeellowbass8416
      @yeellowbass8416  6 років тому

      Good catch. Now that you mention it, when I was ordering the stand, Cabela's website was showing the chain-look as you mentioned. I also don't like but ordered anyway due to the other things I did like. I don't know if there's two versions or the website is just wrong.

    • @BuckMcAntlerson
      @BuckMcAntlerson 6 років тому

      Mine has the coated chain type too and slides in then locks with a spring loaded pull stop (for lack of a better term). So you just slide the chain into the arm while holding up the pull stop then let it spring through the chain at the point (hole) you want it to lock into.
      Idk which one is newer I bought mine used.
      I actually have a Cabela's right near where I work I'll try to go check it out.

      @@BuckMcAntlerson There was an
      API recall on those chains, about 6000 units, because they break. I talked to Muddy and they only use the cables now.
