Great video. Something for folks to think about when storing their stand after foam filling the drain hole in the square tubing at the front of the stand is to hang it where any water will drain out where the cables enter the square tubing. Otherwise you can get some serious corrosion on the inside where you can't see it.
Excellent idea on making the stand a little more hunter friendly, Lord knows I drop plenty of stuff messing around in the stand, I wish I had seen this video 30 years ago, but will put it to practice with my new stand I ordered tonight, Thanks again and have a blessed week. New sub here as well. Dale
I use an ALICE pack frame when hunting. To make it quiet, I sprayed it with a can of bed liner. It doesn't "tink" anymore, it "thunks, when it makes noise at all. I may try foaming it too. Bed liner spray would likely work better than duct tape for most of what you're silencing.
I love this idea and I am wondering if a hollow pool noodle for swimming will do for the straps in place of the pipe insulation also why not use the spray in insulation for the top part of the foot platform and also for the seat frame tubes where you can?
I have a loop strap that I snug to the tree as soon as I get in the climbing stand and stay tethered to the tree all the way up, while I hunt, and all the way down. It is very easy to snug and un-snug it as you move up and down the tree. I had two tree stand accidents many years ago, one where a climber cut loose from the tree and went all the way to the ground with me in it. Required knee surgery and luckily not worse. Another time, a ladder stand spun around the tree as I was climbing down. In both instances, I was done hunting for the day and climbing back down when the accidents happened. I also now strap the top portion of the climbing stand to the tree to lock it in while I am hunting. The top portion is tethered to the bottom portion. On a side note, pick trees where the stand can get a bite in the bark. Hardwood slick bark trees, like Beach, Shag Bark Hickory, and Sycamore for examples, are the WORST and most dangerous to climb.
I bought some padded straps for my Comfort Zone. That sucker is heavy. My Summit Viper isnt so bad as about 15 lbs lighter. I like that old Comfort Zone as its a little bigger. The problem is with the Summit. Im short and I hit the back of my legs on the V of the stand. Thinking of trying reversed
I like your foam idea I too have a Summit mine is a Titan haven`t done the foam thing I guessing I will . The only thing I dislike about my Summit is the chipping of the paint I think they could have done better if they would have put primer on first . But liked your video
Good video but remember everyone Duck tape will get slippery need to put a layer of glue over that and put greens and Browns shingle dust colors for camouflage and non slip so u wont slip off
You forgot to fill the y's that touch the tree the are hollow and easy to fill. I also painted metal with flex seal, l did this when it first came out. I have enjoyed a very quiet stand for years.
What about the smell from the foam though? Great stuff stinks like hell when its wet. I thought about doing this with mine even before I knew it was "a thing that people do".
Not sure you read these hopefully you do this is probably a long shot do you think you could make a video on new trap set up for the trap line because they don't come ready to use like the safety triggers and if the dogs need filing and what not mine are kinda rough feeling if this makes any sense thanks from Upstate New York
REAPER MILITIA SIDETRACKED he has videos on all that stuff already you just have to hunt for them all the way from modifying them to Diane and waxing them they're two separate videos
REAPER MILITIA SIDETRACKED I'm sorry he did modifications on brand new traps but I don't think he did the dying and the waxing for brand new traps but new traps you degrease them then you decrease them and then let them rest then you can start your dying process and waxing process
I guess it deadens the sound some don't know about the smell from foam...i have a viper like that and love it...very quite climber I have camo sleeves that go around all sides of rail..very quiet.can get in and out without a sound...your cable on seat was too low .be careful go slow
bet the duct tape looks good in a year or so then the rotting and the crumbly dry powder or the tape then the stringy mess of dried duct tape guess just tape and retape naah just undercoating quick easy effective
This vid is for people who don't want to or can't afford to spend the money on the high end stands. If you can afford to undercoat then why bother buying a cheaper stand?
@@useryggfdcc I never said people were that poor, but there are some people who are financially strapped. My comment was in response to the original comment. If you can afford to spend money on rhino liner or some other heavy duty coating and applying it to a cheap stand, why not just buy the higher end stand in the first place. Cheaper coating are more DIY, rhino liner and other high end coatings are done by professionals and cost about the same as mid to high end stands. IJS

I'm new to climbers (just got mine today) and didn't think of that. Thanks!
Use the tight stuff brand foam it is about two times more dense that will knock the sound down even more

Get you a foot platform extension. Great accessory for the Summit tree stand. Loved your video, I will be tweaking mine this weekend.

I would like to think UA-cam was made for helpful videos like this. Great job and thank you for this and the rest of your information filled videos.
I did the pipe foam on the upper "shooting rail"and the foot platform.. Awesome video! And the crack sealer.. Damn, I didn't think of that!

Good to see ya. Me and the boys sitting in the shop watchin tonight. Been in the field all day. Can't wait for the trapping vids.
Awesome to have you back man i cant wait for your trapping vidjas!!
Very helpful video. thank you!!!
Those backstraps look nice and tender.
I did this to 4 of my stands including my summit treestand. Thanks!!

I’m deciding between the Goliath and the Titan. Which one do you think I should get? How do you like your Titan?
That's a great idea. Thanks. I will be doing this to my summit climber soon.
I wrap a towel around the buttom when it snows. Your feet stick and make noise in those conditions
Now wrap in stealth straps super quiet
Nice fix Stu! The Blue Tongue got about all our deer this year, so I won't be able to put this to use just yet!
Does the foam have a strong scent?
Good video but remember everyone Duck tape will get slippery need to put a layer of glue over that and put greens and Browns shingle dust colors for camouflage and non slip so u wont slip off
Congrats on 20K man you deserve it!!
Thank you.
Thanks Buddy. Great help!

Great modification and safety tip!
I have a question has anybody tried using the carcass off your Koons after you skin them for your dirthole sets
I have both those stands. API gets more bite on the tree and the summit has a better seat.
I completely agree
What about the smell from the foam though? Great stuff stinks like hell when its wet. I thought about doing this with mine even before I knew it was "a thing that people do".
There's no odor when it cures
Great tip, thanks
great stuff man. very helpful. Lord bless you man
Any concerns about the smell of the spray foam?
Great video. Great info. Thanks buddy.
bro, use your harness when going up the tree. Stay safe.
from the time you leave the ground till you get back down
@@1alexcody Safety police at it again. Lol.
I want to buy it
How do I do it?
Hey just drill some holes and fill it with foam, thanx
Are you going to do a deer hunting video soon?
Good Advice and Thx!

Another good vid. Please post more. Where's rebel dog at??!!
Greats video thanks for sharing can't wait for your trapping video and be safe
Awesome. Thanks for sharing
Great tip. Really cuts down the noise. Going to foam my stand for sure. Appreciate the idea.
He is alive!!!!!! Bro do you have a patreon account?
Would you be interested in coming to southern Colorado on our 30,000 acre ranch to trap coyotes, bobcats, and mountain lion?
you should post mushroom hunting videos or something else during the summer
Awesome man 👍🤘👊
Great video
Why not just use hockey tap. Instead of Duck tape hockey tape is padded

A feel and my family suffered. If people can just remember that. It's not about you getting hurt. It's about your family suffering if you do.
Red_Jacket I'm saying wear a fucking safety harness
Where in the world you been son?
I bet the sellers real pissed at you for showing everyone how they making more $$ from the buyers lol.. Great idea 👍
awsome
They make them cheap, lol
That is not how you safely climb a tree. Read your manual.
