    Mr Sauce! I wanted you to try my idea that I came up with after your last tofu video. Basically I sliced up extra firm tofu unpressed and air fried at 400F for 15 minutes. Then I cut them into bites and submerged them into vegan chicken broth and freezed them while they were submerged. The next day I thawed them and put them in the air fryer again for 3 minutes. Believe me when I say this tasted almost exactly like baked chicken with the skin on, crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. Please try this because it's permenantly changed the way I eat tofu!

I guess we don't have many farmers who will grow it though we have lots of places where it would thrive. It's true that palmetto can be a really great ingredient in ceviche. Hey! Thank you for this recipe, and I love all of your videos! Have recommended them to a lot of friends too. In this case, I have to make a comment though:
    Palmito trees are close to extinction here in Argentina and in Brazil because extracting the hearts of palm kills the tree and it takes decades to grow. That also obviously affects the entire ecosystem and in particular the animals that rely on the tree (local birds an other animals). I myself try to not consume hearts of palm because I don't consider them, even though it is a plant, to be "vegan" (something similar to what happens with palm oil). Just wanted to spread this info :)

      Vegan means you don't consume animal products. So it's still vegan. However you can consider it ethically wrong. I remember watching a video on hearts of palm years ago, it seemed so sad and wasteful 😢 I'm glad I ran into this comment to remind me. I usually don't consume it but I had bought it for this recipe already.

    I'm sure this tastes great but, Fake Meats should disclose the ingredients instead of just saying "flavoring" on the nutrition panel/ingredients list. Vegans and vegetarians have different reasons for adhering to their diets. Those of us doing it for health issues are often on restrictive diets and knowing what components make up "flavorings" could be crucial. Also, the salt level is really high. I guess I'm just frustrated by the lack of information and the heavy-handed use of salt. Salt can always be added, but it can't usually be removed. Also, I wish they would have used a better oil than canola. Finally, thanks for this channel, Saucestache! You've enlightened me on so many ingredients and given me such hope after I developed some serious health issues. I enjoy eating again.

      From my very limited search, harvesting from a multi-stemmed variety grown on a farm is fine because some stems are left to grow and the plant doesn't die. They're grown for this purpose like any veg. Illegally harvested from rainforests are bad, of course. Then there's the environmental cost of transportation over long distances, if you want to consider that.

      I think can bamboo might be similar to HoP. It's cheap here in USA California. I find it in the Asian section of my local grocery.

    Do you think it would taste good to bake not fry the chick-un patties with rice paper only? (no batter)

    does the hearts of palm have much protein? I am always careful to keep maintain my protien content of my vegan meals. I live and die by soy products and beans, lol. Also I love to make seitan, it just takes so much energy, lol.

    Looks great but I will say, I probably wouldn’t make it because there’s so little nutritional value to hearts of palm, kind of the same as jackfruit… they make great substitutes, but there’s not much too them. I’d love to see a recipe like this but with more nutrient dense foods

    problem with your sponsor is that the same machines that make the Just Like Chicken also work with Shellfish, Fish, and Molluscs so I personally don't find it vegan at that point.

    Looks great! My problem w recipes like this though, is that there’s no overt protein so I’d still be hungry unless I loaded up on beans or such as a side. Perhaps it would work to make it with 1/2 hearts of palm and 1/2 shredded soy curls?

    • @SauceStache
      @SauceStache  Рік тому +5

      That would be great! One of my old tricks was to use a plain pea protein in these chicken recipes. It really works as a filler and makes the sandwich more protein dense. It does help with the bite and texture as well!
