You need to talk about Matthew Lugo also. He's been arguably better than Mayer, Teel, or Anthony, with a .650 slug, .392 OBP and easily outpaced those guys with an overall 1.042 OPS. That Sea Dogs lineup is killing it this month.

Matthew Lugo is only 23, so I say the Red Sox got a big 4 now as top prospects.
What are we gonna with Nick Yorke when we have Story,Mayer, and Grissom?
Assuming Grissom gets to the level everyone hopes, I think Yorke and maybe Valdez are going to be dealt to fill other holes. Can’t keep them all, not enough spots on the roster in the middle infield.
I honestly do know prodigy. My guess would be they move Yorke but they could let them flat battle to win the spot then move the other too
Reminds me when they had Xander & Mookie in the system.. let's hope it plays out in a similar fashion..

We need an update on status of draft class from last year
A lot of the aren't really playing. Teel is obviously the main one, but I did a video on Nazzan coming back, Anderson is seriously struggling, Duffy looks solid but in a small sample, and Connelly Early is still settling into High A

I mean if you can hit does it really matter? I understand lefty righty matchups but our current lineup is mainly lefties and it seems to be working
@@azex443 you’re right but if you do the analysis, lefties do have more trouble against LH pitching. So most teams try not to load up with too many of either LH or RH hitters. But old school so if you’re a great hitter you should be ok.
@@kandyman2705 yeah I see your point lefty on lefty is usually not great but it’s a lot more common to see a righty pitcher so that definitely helps and yeah if you can hit like I said it doesn’t really matter
Roman Anthony's slow start this year, may have been a case of a Florida kid experiencing his first winter.... aka, April in Portland.
The question is, do the Sox envision a 2025 log jam in the outfield, with Duran, Abreu and Rafaela blocking Anthony? Premature, perhaps, especially with Rafaela struggling with the bat, and Anthony still too young to get served alcohol, but given the dearth of top pitching prospects on the farm, is Breslow ready to deal?
btw, excellent job of keeping us aware of the Holy Trinity of the Sox farm system.

While thinking of the plethora of top young OFr's in Boston and in Portland, I have flashbacks to 1974. The Sox had brought up a 20 year old Dwight Evans in 1972, and had Jim Ed Rice and Fred Lynn tearing up AAA. Meanwhile, they had well-regarded Juan Beniquez riding the Pawtucket shuttle. In the end, Beniquez was the odd-man out. After trying Beniquez at 3rd base (where he wisely, wore his batting helmet), he was traed for Fergie Jenkins after the 1975 season. Still, Beniquez lasted another 14 years in the majors..... he was hardly a star, but was the 'proverbial 4th outfielder.
Amazingly, the quartet of Evans-Rice-Lynn-Beniquez played nearly a combined 64 seasons in the MLB -- has any other farm system EVER had 4 outfileders promoted to the bigs in a 2 year period and averaged 16 years a piece?
You need to book your media trip to Portland so you can see them play as a unit and hopefully score some interviews.
If you wait too long they may get busted up for a while as promotions to Worcester happen.

How has Mayer’s defense been? And Anthony’s? Also-all three bat left handed. Any concerns about future lineup balance? Devers, Casas, Masa all lefties too.
Anthony’s been solid, Mayer struggling a bit defensively but looking better. Personally I don’t really care about the lineup balance as Casas and Devers are still hitting lefties but I assume that’s something the Red Sox will be making decisions on this offseason especially with Duran,Abreu and Masa

Glad we currently have a "Big Three" trio waiting in the wings, but has been the situation over these last number of years, the Red Sox need to get up to full speed in producing some good young arms to accompany this talent along the way to Fenway ... However, I'm confident and quite optimistic that Craig Breslow is making minor league pitching acquisition and development his #1 priority moving forward ...
Tannour Houck and Kutter are legit CY young contenders right now, Luis Perales looks better than ever, wikelman looks fantastic, Richard Fitts, grant gambrell and Zach Penrod all exploding on the scene. Pitching pipeline is getting there you just aren’t looking hard enough

I think they shouldn't push them too hard let them soak up the time if they are doing what they need to move them up if not then leave them the stats really shouldn't matter for that. If they make AAA cool but I probably wouldn't even consider moving them to the Sox this year regardless of how they do then do a true evaluation in the off season and go from there
I honestly think that these guys are on their own timeline. I don’t believe the Sox are going to force them up at any point so I think it’s really up to them when they come up. If they perform well enough I could see maybe 1 in the back half of this year
@@redseatradio if it was all about stats though then Kavadas would be in the MLB they need to see them accomplish certain things to earn that call up and I'm sure they will in time but honestly I think the end of next year is where they should be projected to hit MLB and if it's sooner great if it's the year after that's fine too but that's where I expected them the whole time. I also don't think they want to bring all three up together so you might see one the end of next year one the start of the following year and one 1-2 months into that season just to let each ease their way in on their own.
Mayer has played in the organization longer than the other two prospects. He's been consistently very good, but not great. He could become a Nomar Garciaparra, but he has not reached that level as a player so far, and he might never. I do think he's ready for AAA, though. The other two (Anthony & Teel) are younger and still need more seasoning at AA, before a promotion. Jordan and Yorke are slightly behind them. Bleis and Nazzan have great potential to become stars, but they can't seem to stay healthy to put together a monster season. As of yet. Cespedes could be the best of them all, after his monster rookie season last year at DSL, but still has a long way to go in MiLB. As for pitching in my Top Ten prospects, Gonzales has struggled this year, but Perales is making strides and consistently improving his game. BTW Corbin, I hope you have a great career as a baseball analyst. You have the best Red Sox channel, by far. Continue to work passionately hard at your dream and I'm sure at some point, you will catch the attention of a Major League executive for a job in their organization. Preferably Boston.
Florida or Lake George? Breslow is going to have huge decisions at the trade deadline far more than the 2024 season calls. Do the RS sell due to a having low playoffs to get more future prospects? One thing that you you should discuss is Nick Yorke's fate? He is worth 12 value, and given his age Breslow needs to be trade him. How aggressive will Henry?
I think it would be super dumb for the Sox to be idk 1.5 games out of the playoff picture and say eh FanGraphs says it’s a 24% chance sell the ship

I can see them all earning a promotion to AAA soon if they keep this up. In worst case sinareo(sort of) and they can play like this in AAA and the Red Sox are out of the play-offs, I can see them promoting at least Mayer, like they did Raphaela last year
Yeah I think Mayer is possible due yo age and experience. Teel I think has an outside shot, Anthony I’d be surprised a bit

I’m not really sure what there is to understand really
Here's the problem- all 3 prospects mentioned here are lefty hitters and we also have guys like Devers, Duran, Yoshida, Abreu, and Casas among many others on our MLB team and Fenway is better for righties than lefties. The Orioles have a lefty-heavy lineup too but Camden Yards is now better for lefties because of that disgusting wall in left field. The Astros have a balanced lineup.
If they can hit it won’t matter from what side. I think the Sox will have to make a tough decision this offseason between Duran and Abreu to help balance it out a bit

Mayer is a dynamic player
really hard to predict he was going to dive for a baseball and shatter his shoulder. And on top of that he was supposed to be here for a much cheaper deal had ownership just actually paid him
Excited to see your video on prospects just below the big 3. Portland offense is always suppressed in April/May. Good the see them adjusting to cold weather. Mayer still needs to work on his approach against lefties. Pretty sizable splits there. Teel is the guy I’m watching tho. He isn’t a catcher with the loudest tools outside of maybe his arm but his feel for the game and sum of all parts approach without a weakness will make him a really productive big leaguer for a long time. Excited to see him called up
Yeah teel has a lot of potential to be special. And I have plenty of minor league content if you wanna take a look at it that’s outside the big 3

Glad to hear this Corbin. Our minor league system definitely has crown jewels and those 3 definitely qualify!!! I don't see where Mayer or Teel would have any difficulty at the triple A level. There's absolutely no reason to rush these guys however it's great to see they are doing well. Unless there's an unforeseen injury we won't see any of them on the major league team until at least next season. It's definitely good to have 3 guys with very bright futures!
