About:
The Red Sox could have a big 2025 season with their prospects. A few of The TOP Red Sox prospects could be making big steps in becoming big leaguers, but one of the TOP Red Sox prospects could be do for a MASSIVE 2025 season. This Red Sox prospect could just be The MLB's next superstar player. Today we are breaking down top Red Sox prospect Conrad Cason. Who Conrad Cason is, how Conrad Cason plays, and why I think he could be a superstar in baseball and for the FUTURE of the Red Sox!
It would be so cool to see a two way player on the Red Sox can’t wait to maybe see him in the next few years
Wouldn’t it? Would be awesome!
Redsox see something great in this kid. As we all know lots of kids at that age have to eventually make a decision. Thanks Corbin.
Corbin, you are knocking these prospect breakdowns out of the park!
Thanks Corbin. You’re always on top of this content with no BS or clickbait.
Thanks for watching
Awesome Vid. This was the steal of the draft. I didn't think they were going to sign him. Have been scouting this guy for a Lil bit. He's just oozing with Talent. Really excited to seeing him develop in the system.
There are somewhere between 12-24, 2-way players in the minors but few from AAA+
Looking at his swing and his pitching there are issues with both but IF, and that's a big if because as you said few can do both, they can clean those up he certainly would have a pretty high floor.
Good luck to the kid it would be great to see him make it on both sides.
Appreciate the insight I knew it was low, that has to be what maybe 2% of players, less than that probably. Yeah there are gonna be obvious tweaks and things to work on with players this young, but your right it’s all about how the Sox handle his development and more importantly his work load
@@redseatradio Typically there are like 3-5, "2-way" players drafted/signed each year about 1-3 of those actually make it past the first year as a 2-way player and then most of them stop being 2-way by AAA and obviously only one is currently in the MLB. The Giants 1B prospect was a 2-way guy but got called up as only a 1B so he was pretty close and may still get a shot after either going down or in the off season but sounds like they are 90%+ out on him doing both. Most lose their 2-way status somewhere around A+-AA so if he is still doing both by AAA then there could be a chance. A lot of these guys will end up doing one and if they can't make it in MLB with that one will get a final shot at developing the other. (See Kenley, although he was never a pitcher he just was a catcher with a rocket arm that they taught to pitch)
Excellent job, Corbin. This guy's potential is through the roof.
Hopefully this kid lives up to his potential, he seems like a high ceiling player from what I’m hearing! I’m glad you’re keeping us up to date with our prospect pool, Corbin!
Right hand bat you say! Can play any position possiblely let’s give him a shot next week
Haven’t heard of this guy before! Love the video on it!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Interesting take. Obviously the massive signing bonus for such a late draft pick is telling. While the MLB team continues to scuffle it’s heartening to see some very exciting kids in the system.
It's fantastic for the Red Sox to have a player with such a bright future
Wish Conrad the best of luck on his journey in baseball!!
Yeah it’s pretty cool right?
I'd focus on his pitching foremost and see how the hitting develops secondary. Id def develop both as this prospect will be a superchip if he can develop. Lets Go!
Most talented HS plyrs pitch and hit especially pitch in relief as it seemed Conrad had as you said it’s extremely rare that a plyr continues his development as a 2 way plyr so let’s wait and see what becomes of him
I sure hope so. I would love to see him excel as a 2-way player. Give Shohei Ohtani some company. Not that he will be as good as Shohei, but you never know.
They definitely are something with that signing bonus. Let's keep our fingers crossed 🤞
I send my best wishes to Conrad as he’s on his baseball journey.
Agreed
I seriously doubt it. There is Otani before that the last one was Babe Ruth?
Casey Kelly was suppose to be one. He was drafted by the Red Sox. He just got DFA from Cincinnati
what's your prediction on D'Angelo Ortiz????
Well, if other people can do it, this guy could do it. Time will tell though
That would be wicked cool
Wicked cool
I think you can I was 2A in high school left-handed pitcher first baseman
Shades of Frankie Rodriquez? I believe he broke in w us but spent most of his brief career with the Twins. He was a 2nd round pick for the Sox.
Not sure tbh
There are lots of stories about minor leaguers who transitioned from position player to pitcher (T. Wakefield, K. Jansen?) and vice versa (J. Francoeur).
The first two-way player (over 100 years ago) played for the Red Sox. A youngster named Babe Ruth. The 2nd achieved stardom a few years ago, Shohei Ohtani. Can Conrad Cason become the third? I'm excited to find out!
Is there any explanation for why so many draftees won't start in the minor leagues until the year after being drafted? Is this some sort of trend? Does it has a logical reason behind it?
Honestly if Conrad doesn't succeed as a 2 way player.I think he should be converted to a pitcher.
faced him in highschool last year. he topped 97.......
I have seen him throw...Amazing arm.
Yeah he looks pretty special on the mound
Do you know if any of the Red Sox draft picks have played or will play this year? I was so confused when I was seeing other draft picks already playing and I haven’t seen one Red Sox pick in the minor leagues
That's going to be very interesting to have 2 way player I hope he succeeds.
Yeah it’ll be a fascinating road to follow here
Obviously this is just clickbait pretty much, he is an exciting prospect don't get me wrong but the list of guys currently hitting and pitching in the minors as far as I can tell is currently zero. There was Josh Tiedemann in the FCL who barely even played but that was it. Every other two way guy is now just either hitting or pitching. The overwhelming likelihood is that he turns into one or the other (which isn't a bad thing, Carson Williams was drafted as a two-way guy and is a stud shortstop prospect for the Rays).
Would be a lot of fun if he did somehow become a two-way player for the Sox though.
my guy it's not clickbait.
That first BP clip looks horrible. Guess the scouts have had a longer look.
I also think that was from a couple of years ago the HR derby clip is much more recent
I totally agree ! ... I don't think this prospect is helping himself the way he has his hands held so close to his body before starting his swing ... He also is losing precious 100th's of seconds in reaction time by having to move his arms back before exploding forward to hit the pitch ... Conrad Cason may now be able to get away with his current approach at the high school level, but I doubt it will carry over and have much success once he starts playing professionally ...
However, if Cason opts to maximize his hitting potential, he would be wise to review and analyze how Jarren Duran has significantly maximized his offensive game by getting his hands higher and held back at ear level (Charlie Lau's optimum launch position) ... By doing so, Duran has now eliminated all wasted motion in his swing allowing him to better "barrel up" and make more consistent contact by being more compact and "short to the ball" ... Unless Cason is willing to make this hitting adjustment, I'd recommend him "taking the mound" to pursue an MLB career as a pitcher ...
@@tsid160 Lau explains that your hands need to be in launch position when your front foot plants and your weight is still back. Your stance is just a comfort thing. What you’re confusing is your upper body stretching back as opposed to physically moving your arms back.
I would argue starting with your hands low and close to your shoulder. It’s the quickest way to get to the ball. . Look up Aaron judges video with Harold Reynolds when he says “ I could swing from this position if I wanted to”, he explains that your hand should be “ looking at the pitcher” when you’re in your stance.
I could name plenty of high-level hitters in today’s game who start with their bat and their shoulder and face the greatest pitching that we’ve seen, much better than we saw in Lau’s time.
@@benl9775 You make a valid point due to Aaron Judge along with Ted Williams starting their bat position from a similar low position ... On the other hand, I believe that Hank Aaron along with Jim Rice took more of what I subscribe to into the batter's box ... Aaron and Rice would take "half check" or "pump" type swings before getting the bat back into the optimum launch position ... This bat preparation technique and motion before the pitcher releases the ball helps avoid "white knuckles" while giving the hitter a better "muscle memory" advantage in my opinion ... I agree with you and well realize and am aware that a hitter's hands and arms most definitely need to get back before going forward ... What I'm emphasizing is that a hitter needs to get into the "optimum launch position" just before the pitch is released and thrown, not while it is already "in route" and "in the air" toward the plate ...
Fred Lynn, on the other hand, learned from studying Willie McCovey that what would work best for him was by simply placing his bat on his shoulder before bringing his hand position back and into his starting point bat "launch" position ...
As far as the stance is concerned, I agree that comfort is a big consideration, but the optimum position in my opinion is to keep your feet directly placed shoulder width apart ... I don't know how Jeff Bagwell was so successful a hitter with his feet positioned that wide apart ??? ... He made the "HOF" so his unique stance definitely worked for him ... However, keeping the swing as simple as possible by having your head remain as still as possible while eliminating wasted motion in attacking a pitch will pay the biggest rewards in becoming a consistent hitter ... Jarren Duran is an excellent example today in MLB of this simplified hitting technique ...
I think you and I would both agree and find "common ground" that what works for one hitter won't necessarily will work for another ... What makes baseball and sports in general so great is that we all have our own approach and opinions and look at the intricacies of the game from different viewpoints and angles ...
@@tsid160 George Brett would be the best example of what I’m talking about. You should look into judges hitting coach who he literally credited his success to on Mookie Betts podcast. If you look at judges swing when he first entered the league compared to now it’s night and day. His main principles, such as one leggedness and the bat path he teaches are next level.
Hand position is important when you’re front foot lands and you were in “launch position “ , but you also need to have a proper stretch and load with your entire body when you’re in that position as your body is ultimately doing the work, not the hands. Anything you do before you get to that point is irrelevant. I work on the stuff myself, so I only condone what I have tested.
We might get an Ohtani les go
Lmao
I get that he is a high school player… but if he is that good how did he slip all the way until the eighth round?
Ok. I wrote my comment as I was listening to the video… you gave the reasoning. 😂
Yeah only reason he went so low is cause teams didn’t expect him to sign
The Red Sox scouts ability to evaluate young talent is questionable at best. They do have cred with 40 somethings tho. 👍🏻😂
Right cause Duran, Bello, Houck, Casas, Ceddanne, Kutter, Devers, Xander, Mookie those guys dont count
Don’t worry, I’m here
Called it on the Hamilton bunt
You did unfortunately it looks like this method only works on live streams or maybe I need to respond faster. We will workshop it
It’s unfortunate we might not see this guy for a few years… but he needs a little bit more development.
Trade him for pitching next season
Wow, Red Sox gamble $1.2 million on an 18 year old. Where is this kid from? Can you do a report on Kristian Campbell?
Dosent matter the red soxs are chokers. And we have 3 more years ofcora
This is definitely bait click chances are an 8th round draft pick is not going to be a superstar he might look good now but it won't age well come back at me when we had a first round pick that looks like he could be a superstar
Boy is this a dumb comment.
Your Are So Optunistict
Of course. Why would I sit here and crap all over 18 years olds lol
First view, like and comment.
Nice!
