To the part about liking or disliking electric. I have an Ribelle and i absolutely love it to death. As a person on the last meetup i were at with my bike said to me. "if anyone hates or dislikes your bike because its electric only proves that they arent a true bikerider. True riders accepts all bikes."
I loved when I rode it, the only think I missed is the raw power for the Eva and Ego. The "sport" mode of this bike is a little below road mode for the Eva. :P But it's fine, everything else is way better. Can't wait for the sporty bike built on this platform.
When calculators first came out they were about £30, and that was when a typical apprentice wage was under 30 quid a week. All new technology is massively expensive until economies of scale kick in. I'm an old fucker now so I just hope that economy of scale for electric bikes happens faster than me decaying to the point where a 260 Kg bike is beyond me. If it doesn't then my only hope will be if Piaggio release an electric MP3. I bet it would be awesome if they make one though. On a wider perspective though, it's pretty well established that LiIon is now looked on as a transition on the road towards solid state cell technology. We are very close to that being here, with several groups well into sustained testing. When it's here then we get lighter battery packs, charging times approaching the time it takes to fill a petrol tank, and no potentially volatile electrolyte. As for whether it will end up cheaper it's fingers crossed, but you only need to look at the downward price trend of SSD disks to be hopeful about this.
Torque is higher at the rear wheel than the motor, same as a gas bike. Usually it's only the motor torque that is specified, especially with gas bikes because the wheel torque is going to vary based on gear.
Reduction (reduction of rpm) gearing multiplies torque by the same ratio. So 2:1 reduction multiplies torque x2 etc. So the highest of the torque figures will apply to the rear wheel.
Now this is a video I really enjoyed and I'm looking forward to the full review because this electric bike seems to be close to being a real alternative. Now where I thought that other bike you tested was ridiculously expensive this one, although it is a lot of money, offers a package that makes some sense. £27k for an "adventure style" bike is top end but then an R1250GS could get close on price if you ticked all the options. If this bike could actually tour two up fully loaded without having to stop every 100miles and wait for 4 hours then it becomes a genuine alternative for those who will sacrifice a bit of spec in order to have electric power so it will be genuinely interesting to see what your findings are.
7:57 are there more charging points than pumps or stations? Because usually charging points are listed for each plug, while petrol station usually have from 2 to even 10 for the big ones. And the statistic probably combines AC and DC (you really want only DC chargers on the go). Or worse, counting ChaDeMo and CSS together, even if you can only use one at the time. Still impressive, and new ones are being installed every day across the world.
Which is why they have electric sorted out! XD the real problem they have is capacity, they cannot produce fast enough. The queue is slow, it takes month from booking one to delivery. They are expanding the production site but sadly it's not ramping up fast enough, and they don't want to grow to fast (which is understandable if they want to keep the great service they are providing to their customers).
Beautiful! Questions: ) Being chain driven, what are the options for chain / sprockets? any significant reservations / benefits? (relative to this video) ) what do you think of adoption of electric bikes to the Government EV salary sacriifice sheme? will it happen? (semi-relative to this video) keep that visor down in summer!! I've had bees that felt like paintballs hit my jacket at 50, can't imagine what one of those to the face would feel like!
Okay that looks quite exciting. Lets hope that something in between that and the last test comes out. Lighter and half the power would be good. Could you charge it from a campsite power supply?
When you say charging stations do you places that have several or is it individual chargers. For instance my local pub has 2 chargers so is that counted as 1 or 2. I suspect the figures are given by the government so suspect that means individual chargers.
Hey spicy, You mention , more charging points than petrol stations in the UK, That's true but, how many pumps do all those petrol stations have? That statistic counts all the single charging points across the whole country
It could also mean charging points as in stations, that have multiple points. I have not seen a break down of exactly how they counted it. My point was about the transition, we are ahead on what is needed atm and that will continue. In fact I think they have slowed installing them as there is enough for the current time. Also remember charging time will go down as there is a point cars and bikes have "enough" range per charge.
i don't think it is valid to quote that there are more charging points than petrol stations. A better comparison would be charging points versus pumps; we are a long way from that claimed scenario (and rightly so, given the total of EVs on the road). Despite the alleged range, it would be difficult to conceive this as a true adventure/tourer as EVs suffer with a loss of meaningful daily touring range due to the constraints of charging. IMO, EV bikes are great for the city and commuting to work and nothing more. A lack of competition for Mugen has forced the EVs off the TT calendar and any more than two laps would see EVs at their limit of true racing Looking forward to your full review of the Experia, RSMF.
8:15 - The 'more charging points than petrol stations' stat, do you mean stations, or pumps? 'cus if there's more chargers than stations, but each station has anywhere from 6 to 12 pumps, the figure probably flips even without the time to fill difference right? Plus, most of those stations will have most, if not all, the pumps working, outside of supply issues obviously, whereas we know the charging network to be a shambles.
Great video but I'm not into electric motorbikes at this point of time I would be the last motorcycles to buy one I love petrol motorbikes the smell the noise the freedom not my cuppa.
"rear brake at the foot as it should be"....WELL, U`ve got a LOT more feel using your hands instead of the foot. Obviously. So we "should" it be on the foot? Tradition is the word. But that is not the better solution in this case.
30.000 euros for a 260 kilo bike that will most likely do about 200 kms of real world range and needs at least 40 minutes to charge IF you get a LVL3 charger. Yeah... hard pass

Love the sound of that. Jet engined milk float 😂

Looking forward to the review. This is a pretty tempting bike tbh.
Energica bikes sound so good
8:52 Little Britain, I love itl😂
Looking forward to seeing you on this one!
So this should be a closed visor bike then??😎

I will say this now, video coming. The thing that stood out the most was the range!
I really wish that that had been available back when I was able to ride.
ive got the voge er 10, its my daily atm super fun if you get a chance you should review it will even lend you mine for a few days

Great review, Looks a handfull if it was in the wrong hands
Bit pricey but you work out your running costs and the price seems good
Love the Energicas. I think they have electrics sorted. Shame about the price.

I just have ONE question. Did you take it through some green lanes?
spicy vid
Okay that looks quite exciting. Lets hope that something in between that and the last test comes out. Lighter and half the power would be good. Could you charge it from a campsite power supply?
Yes regular outlet is fine .. and charging can ve limited to 16 10 or 6 amp .. (220v)

Infrastructure has a long way to go still , Im all in for electric when it's "ready" for everyone

Again it is a transition time, remember they are not banning petrol's just the sales of new ones.
I’m hoping that the electric motorcycle segment takes off. I’d love to have something like the Yamaha tracer in electric And for under 15 grand
That's a cool concept!

As an EV owner and driver for the last 18 months, the charging network is far from a shambles.
There is a mod you can buy from holland that sorts the cruise button location.
Nice! If I owned one of these bikes, I would get that immediately.
@@spicy110 it’s in my list, hopefully I get my Experia end of this month:-)
Give me a s1000rr any day over this

This may come as a surprise to you, but these videos aren't made for you and only you. Other people do exist.
I know, shocking...

Too bad no one is using a clutch lever to control regenerative breaking .
I mean it's an idea, the RGNT I just reviewed had extra regen by rolling the throttle forward, odd at first but you get used to it.
My KIA uses the flappy paddles to control regen, and I use it like gears into, and out of corners, etc.. Fun.
Its good buts needs to be 33% cheaper.

One service station can service 20-30 cars at any one time one charging point can do one car 2 to 3 hours so your numbers don’t really stack up
Have you taken into account just how few EV's there currently are? For now there is plenty, everyone I have ever gone to has been empty.
2 to 3 hours of what? Is that your idea of how long charging takes? LOL
