Getting to Grips with Concerta XL (ADHD Medication) - Days 2 - 4 Vlog

I'm Emily and I had a late diagnosis of Inattentive ADD (a type of ADHD) just two months after my 30th birthday. Finding out I was neurodivergent was scary and exciting, but now I'm ready to start treatment!
In this video, I vlog my second, third and fourth days on Concerta (starting dosage 18mg), and show some of the difficulties I have in life because of my ADHD. Concerta XL is a prolonged/slow/long release stimulant medication (its scientific name is methylphenidate!) used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). This medication is sometimes called Ritalin - particularly in the US. This video shows my first day on the drug and highlights some of its effects (and side effects!) on my mind and body.
I will be continuing a vlog showing my experience with ConcertaXL as I test out my current dose and through the titration period.

I'm on day one of an 18mg dose today. I'm a 40 year old man and was diagnosed a week ago. I know things will change and that the drug isn't a cure.....but today things have been easy. I feel clsn and focused and not like there's a dustbin over my head and several people are twatting it with baseball bats.
I didn't realise things could feel easy. Merry effing Christmas!
How much was it to buy it?
And how long did it take to get the tablets after getting diagnosed
I’m excited for you! I start 18mg on Feb 11th as a 43 year old man. I look forward to seeing if I can experience the same. At least for once, I feel hope.

Best of luck to you! Ive been on ADHD meds since middle school so whenever i hear someone getting on them for the first time, it makes me excited! Its ok'd so many different things in my life. Super helpful. Its been an adventure but totally worth it.
It can be challenging at first with these medicines but once you've acclamated its a breeze and fun. Being able to work, focus and learn is always a good thing.

Yho the comment section hectic ,But iam also on ADHD Medicatiom 36 MG with serdap medication after a heavy meal. When i go to school i drink it at 5 so that withdrawal doesnt bother me alot for as long as i take my serdap meds I dont really feel it.

Due to start Xaggitin which is another brand similar to concerta. Losing the keys is a huge one, Apple Airtags have been a godsend
Airtags for keys is a great idea! Only problem I can for see is... what happens if I lose my phone AND my keys?! Haha.

@@Aliyahxx1 yes it helpt with my concentration! I wil go to 27 mg in a few days i feel beter on the medication!

Concerta made me sleep all the time. Not sure why but it made me a slug.
I am already a "slug" - I don't think I could physically sleep much more than I already do! Concerta seems to be helping me stay awake during the day which I appreciate :)

Oh no! Are you gonna up the dosage or switch to a different medication? If you watch the next video in this vlog series you'll see that a lot of this focus on 18mg was actually placebo effect! Gutted.
Sounds like you need a higher dose or perhaps you need to switch to a different medication.
Concerta didn’t work for me but Vyvanse works wonders.
