Hey everyone, Colon cancer is the most preventable type of cancer. If you have family history, please push to get a colonoscopy. Don’t just have them do that occult blood feces test as it is not a direct indication of lack of cancer, in case of a negative result. I got my colonoscopy done at 31 years old about a week ago. Although the doctor did not find any tumors, she found a 9 mm polyp and inflammation in my sigmoid colon. I’m waiting for pathology now. Don’t trust that 45 year requirement. If I had waited, who knows if that polyp would become cancerous and maybe, I wouldn’t even make it to 45. Get screened early

    • @petersaccocia4510
      @petersaccocia4510 Рік тому +11

Yes. I think I read that 50% of all people will get polyps in their colon and 10% of all polyps become malignant tumors. That means about 5% of people will get colon cancer eventually. So important to find those polyps when they are still harmless and get them removed.

Absolutely! Both my dad and grandma passed away from colon cancer. I started getting colonoscopies at age 30 and get them every 3 years. They have removed at least 2 pre-cancerous polyps over the last 12 years! I also have mild Crohn’s disease that sometimes gives me trouble. Prayers and best wishes to you all!

Thank you for your response!!! When did you get diagnosed with Crohns? I am still waiting on the pathology results and with the colon inflammation, it could be either that or Ulcerative colitis. May your dad and grandma rest in peace. My dad passed away in 2019 from colon cancer as well

Question what if u can't get a colonoscopy. I've tried 4 times but all the lax did made me violently sick and real sore in my bowels fever and mad headaches.this has been 8 months I've had blood in stool and felt awful for months now. Constant dull pain in bowel 24/7 I've had ultrasound and waiting on CT scan. But basically the only thing that can be done is colonoscopy. I'm sick of it all if I'm honest. Tired constant ,sick couple dozens times this yr already. What am I supposed to do. I've asked for more tests blood and stole as they ain't been done since first presented to doc last December. Can't get anything other than a callback from my surgery. My doc is now retired the other one who took over is of sick long term. I got taken off referral list as I was waiting for there next move. So. Now I gotta start allover again. Total pisstake.

Wow, I am sorry you are going through these complications. The colonoscopy prep is awful and honestly, I had a hard time but it wasn’t as bad as you are explaining to me. Unfortunately, the prep needs to be done if they really wanna see what’s going on. It seems that CT scan of the abdomen may be a good option but I would agree that colonoscopy would tell more. Which prep did you have? There is a new one where it’s broken down in two doses. Did you have that one?

I am so happy you have created this support system for men. My sons in their teens discovered they have a genetic disorder which predisposes them to colon cancer, stomach cancers. Interesting you said fatigue- that was 13 yr old sons only symptom. They have had colons removed. I have tried to connect them to support groups - they are reluctant! I can tell you, as you said, mostly women on these sites. You are saving mens lives, more important than that, you are helping people truly live with whatever time they have.

Thank you Trevor for turning the spotlight on yourself. I have cancer too and right now I am in remission but the survival rate to the five year mark from date of diagnosis is only about 20%. It definitely was a "life asteroid" for me and my family. I don't remember what I told them or what they said to me. Keep vlogging and keep sharing because we all need to keep the conversation open for men. We are taught to just take it like a man. Prayers and God bless! I see you are still with us FIVE YEARS LATER. AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!

No one is ultimately in control of our life. When things go wrong, (as they will for us all), it is not a sign of our own weakness or a lack of strength. No one is guaranteed a perfect life. We are not the center of our own story. Leaning on others takes humility. Resting in Him will bring peace in the midst of the storm, regardless of the outcome. (I was diagnosed with cancer a few years after my husband of 29 years left me; I understand difficulties in life).

This is such a powerful video. What most people are afraid of is not being independent and asking for help.
This is a huge deal for most people and it is so hard to come to terms with not being able to physically do stuff when you were such an active/independent person before.
I think it's better to get use to the new reality and ask for help when necessary because we can't do things on our own all the time.
I hope you get better mate and I am praying for you. Such a great video.
What we have to realise is we didn't ask for this illness to overwhelming our body and we just have to deal with the cards we have been given.

My symptoms were barely anything except I noticed some slight pain in my right arm. Since I slice meat at a deli, I thought it was from that. It turned out to be metastatic breast cancer. I hadn't bothered to get a mammogram. I just didn't think they were important. When I finally did go, they found a large tumor in my right breast. I would say this to you. Don't be paranoid, but definitely be vigilant when it comes to your health. I wish I would have given it more importance than I did, but hindsight is 20/20.

I'm facing a very scary colonoscopy on August 31st. I've had colonoscopies before I'm in my 60s. My first colonoscopy, I had 3 pre cancerous polyps, so I had to be screened in 3 years, I had 5 polyps that weren't cancerous, so I needed to be screened in 5 years and it's coming up but this time I have problems, I have blood in my stool and black like blood. I'm getting an upper and lower screening, and it's scary

@stelladowsett7151 Thank you, sweetie. My children are raised, and I'm glad I'm the age I am. This young man is very brave, and I totally feel his pain.

I'm curious about your liver surgery. I am 64 female and have stage 4 colon cancer that spread to my Liver and I have asked a half dozen times why they cant take it off my Liver. I do have a small amount that spread to my stomach also.
We were also blindsided as I was just fatigued after working and then went in for Colonoscopy.

Living in the moment and present is hard to do with any cancer. The fears are real and cancer sucks giving us psychology issues and knowing you carry this crap in your body. My breast cancer was 6 years ago but in the back of my mind this could return again. We need to find a new you but as well it’s gets lost sometimes out of the blue it reminds you that in realty this has a chance of recurrence. I don’t mean to be a bummer but this is it.

No the tumor was in the ascending colon which is the first section. Blood was just turning dark by time a stool is passed.
