You gotta love guns that never need reloading....plus "Hard Boiled" is one of the rare movies that you adapt into a videogame and not the other way around...

The movie that convinced me that Action Movies, when done with expert precision, can be art.
I remember that one-shot hallway sequence left me in a stunned silence for a good 5 minutes the first time I saw it.
We wish we could have left the entire hallway scene in!

I dread to think how much pressure cast and crew must have been under prior to, and during, shooting of that one-take sequence. If even just one of them had severely flubbed their lines and/or actions then my understanding is that they would have had no time to go back and try and do it as a one-take sequence again.
Most Hong Kong films in that era had no sound mics. All of the sound and dialogue was dubbed in after filming. This was both to save money and i believe to also allow mandarin dubbing to be easier.

I remember being totally 'eyes glued to the screen' when the hospital came up - could not stop watching! Perfect over the top action, and really intelligently done as well - all the little details were so great.

This is literally an accurate depiction of shootout in Doom games.
Also, to answer your question at the end, yes, the PS3/XBOX game is very good, I got mine on Xbox and Pc once my 360 went red. Very short at 7-8 levels but it's super cool if you are in the mood to mow down thousands of armed mooks and blow the shit out of everything in your path. Hell, the game has a destruction tally at the end to tell you just how much of a financial dent you left behind. Even John Woo appears as himself so that was awesome for a fan like me :D
A shame the sequel never went anywhere, it was going to have Chow Yun Fat AND Vin Diesel! It was canned and due to be reconfigured into just another co-op shooter but that too was canned :(
Track down a copy and give it a go! It's still super fun to play!

One of the greatest action movies ever made and is John Woo's masterpiece that he still hasn't topped to this day. Plus it's my headcanon that Hard Boiled is set in the same universe as Breaking Bad, Sons Of Anarchy, Demon Knight, Heat and Runaway Train.

No. The 108th victim in this was played by Kwan Hoi-San (a.k.a. Herman Kwan) while the _Die Hard_ actor playing Mr Takagi was James Shigeta.

Still one of the best Action-Movies ever made. Back when Action-Movies were REAL Action Movies and not the crap we get now 99% of the time. Dredd was a fine example of a good Action-Movie but those Diamonds are very rare these days. Sad times.

I mean there's not really but the plots are kinda similar. (White Guy who's never been to jail teams up with an African American jailbird who likes to sing badly to '80s songs and who's the only guy to put away the bad guy and they have round about 48 hours to put away the bad guy. (I don't think it's exactly 48 hours it's more like 36 hours in Hitman's case. But yeah I got a 48 Hours type of vibe off it but maybe that's just me.))
