45 min in and im sitting here completely enthralled. Loving this episode so much. Great guest.

That would be too much work for poor young Jamie.

Love Rinella. Made hunting fascinating for me.
You know when a comment section on a UA-cam video makes you grapple with your individuality, because those who also like the same podcast you love are foaming at the mouth with negativity? Like fuck man, am I one of those monsters? Nah, I'm just watching a podcast.
Isaiah Perry lmfao
Narcissism is on the rise bro, peace !
AquanautSt1 the comments are so racist and stupid I can't even pay attention to them.
AquanautSt1 Yeah, "narcissism" whatever dude. The bulk of UA-cam commenters are straight cancer.

If Steven Rinella is THIS interesting now, what is he going to be like when he is an old man relegated to a rocking chair at his cabin in the woods? #idolmaterial
@Flynn Livescmd Why are you so angry?
@@ciggyhost2037 he's currently an old man

redi275 He's definitely interesting and I wouldn't argue that he is unskilled but he's just boring to listen to and he's scatterbrained as fuck.
Adam Greentree is way more interesting to listen to imo.
Is this the podcast where he tellls the bear story ?
@@codypettigrew9972 Steve Rinella is a salt of the earth real person. Adam Greentree is a guy that bleaches his teeth and has a wife with fake tits. As a deer stalker from the UK. I am ashamed to admit that I was a little bit syndical about watching another a US "hunting" TV series. That's until I watched Steve and his series "Meat Eater" on Netflix. Steve Rinella has to be the most informed, intelligent and by far the most eloquent of hunters that I have ever had the pleasure to watch on TV. I learn something new from every episode! I have the upmost respect for his hunting ethics and I envy his field craft. Steve Rinella is everything I aspire to be as a hunter and a human being..... Steve has helped me understand my place on this earth. Thank you 👍
@@sk8angel20031 feel bad for you man
Dude I know what you mean, the old outdoors shows especially the fishing shows like Bill Dance were so fake and heavily sponsored. They would stick bass in their live well, take one out, hook it in the mouth the same way every time and it was always with the sponsored lure of the day. My Gpa was a state renowned Striper guide, I’ve been bass fishing since i could cast a zebco 33. You almost never hook Largemouth like that. I’ve had them one swallow 4 and 5 offsets, the back treble hook of a crank bait, and get hooked on just about every spot in the mouth. Large mouth suck in and swallow their prey. The chances of hooking a 5+ pound bass in the lower left corner of its mouth every time, especially with Texas/Carolina rigged soft lures.
Steven Rinella could tell me a 2 hour story about how he brushes his teeth and I still wouldn't lose interest lol
Steve's show, Meat Eater, on Netflix is really good. Would recommend it to anyone, even if you don't hunt. Joe's in some episodes too.
Hunting talk starts at 0:00.
Ends at 2:50:44
Thanks 👍
This guy could be making all of this up and it would still be entertaining
ellmuffin Season 5 of meateater of you want to watch.
No, he is not. I grew up in Guyana and heard those stories as a kid.
Yall dumb, how do you not get what hes trying to say
@Cynthia Baker Hi Cynthia, yes, we both grew up in Guyana, but I have never seen cassava spelled casaba. Which region is this spelling from? Back to the issue of poison, boiling is good enough to remove the poison from cassava, eddo, etc. The raw stuff is what gets you.
By the way, I don't think I was specifically commenting on the truth about cassava prisoning. It was more of a general comment.
@Cynthia Baker LOL, just when I thought I was going to learn in some region that as the spelling. I did make another post where I mentioned eating cassava raw and pepper pot. I did mention that the guy was off on some of the facts.
steve you need to have netflix put more episodes on already...
I grew up in Guyana. Steve is so accurate about the locals not knowing about Jim Jones, or much of anything outside of thier own regions.
Man, Steven Rinella is one interesting dude. So thorough and explains things so well. He's a fountain of useful information.
Steve Rinella could go on JRE a million more times and i'd never get tired of their conversations.
Check out the meat eater podcast. New episodes weekly.
Meat Eater is definitely the best hunting show ever... by far. I love hunting, but prior to Meat Eater, I NEVER watched hunting shows.
WyoFire60 whats so great about it? You enjoy killing?
check out nz hunter adventures. a new zealand hunting show. youll enjoy it.
@@niccolom4556 so you're a vegetarian? Most hunters dont "enjoy" killing. We enjoy harvesting our own meat in a human way. You probably eat factory meat....ever seen how those animals are treated before being slaughtered?? Educate yourself before you say stupid things!
hunt and fish to live I still dont want to kill things directly. Of course, the average person distances and desensitizes themselves to the murder in order to eat FLESH.
I am a vegetarian, but even before I would only eat meat sparingly (not every day) and choose from humane companies to buy from.
If I had to live on a farm, directly slaughtering my animals to eat their flesh, I wouldve been vegetarian a long time ago.
And my original comment still stands; you like killing? With your own hands?
@@niccolom4556 I hate killing things. I love meat. Meat is what made us evolve into the humans we are today. I choose to harvest my own meat rather than let someone do the "killing" for me. You have a better suggestion? And dont say go vegetarian.....I like myself and my health way too much for that!
MeatEater fan here. Love this podcast! This guy knows so much about cultures, history, food and travel and through the lens of how people feed themselves. Fantastic! If Dos Equis takes nominations for the most interesting man in the world, he'd get my fucking vote.

Joe has become a legitimate bow Hunter. In one of his podcast he talked about minimizing target panic in a way that made a lot of sense. He has arrowed quite a few elk now too. Good to see not every one in Hollywood is ignorant to this gathering of food that's been going on since the dawn of time.

It would be interesting if Steve brings that guy to the US for a hunting trip, with modern rifles and scopes.
Ner I think an muzzleloader with some mild optics would be the best middle ground. A high powered rifle would require so much training and practice for him, especially with the range you hunt elk at out west that are up to 300 yds. I imagine his buddy is with a bow like I am with a rifle. Conversely, I just picked up my first compound and probably shoot worse than their 5 year olds with a longbow or recurve. But, give me a rifle in anything between .22LR and 30-06 after not holding one for 3 years and I’ll still hit the small spinner or I’ll have groups of .223 and 308 holes touching at 100 yards nearly every time, even with an opposite handed rifle not sighted in for me. Like they are with bows and blow guns, I started at such a young age and had to adapt to using right handed firearms so often that shooting them are second nature to me.

Need to have cameron hanes and steven rinella on a podcast together
Nathaniel Waddell Rinella would make Cameron look like a kindergartener. Rinella is a true outdoorsman. Cam is an athlete who practices his athleticism in the outdoors. Both are very fascinating; and truly the best at what they do. But they aren't on the same level, two very different philosophies on hunting and the outdoors.
Ryan Calhoun....i agree but it would be nice to see them bullshit about hunting together
Nah. Hanes is a complete douche. He hunts for nothing more than bragging rights and recognition. Yea yea I know I'm a "troll" but seriously NEVER trust a man who says he hunts but doesn't like turkey hunting. Being in the woods during a spring turkey season is so incredibly magical for a true outdoorsman that it's undeniable.
Nathaniel Waddell Rinella would never be in the same room with a egomanic like Hanes. He's not a real outdoorsman and wouldn't last a day on one of Steve's hunts.
I'm not sure if steve is fond of cam. At least I think I got that vibe from listening to meat eater.
