    My roommate in detox was kidnapped by pirates. I stupidly asked him “what was it like” and he just smiled and said “you got a couple hours?”… obviously I did, I was in detox, but you could see the pain in his face after he said that.

    The two Seychellois fisherman he mentioned were safely rescued after 2years. Our president tried to negotiate prices as well but it took 2 years to do so. This interview was eye opening thank you.

    I read his book after hearing him give an interview on NPR about a year ago. I just got around to reading it. It was heart wrenching and it made me sad to imagine him out there in Somalia. I cried as the book came to an end. I was, and am, so happy for him.

    Joe says some funny stuff, but noticing that his guest gets his back up while talking about some heavy stuff is great. He might ask simple questions that seem irrelevant to a lot of people, but it’s the seemingly irrelevant stuff that fills in the gaps of all the inane questions I have.
    I like that Joe asks questions a 10 year old would ask... it makes me understand better

      Not bob I’m pretty sure they have like this huge tube the connects from the U.S all the way to boat he was held captive on. With this tube they would shoot the money through the tube. Once they got the money they would do the same thing with him where they would shoot him back through the tube that would eventually get him back to the U.S. it sounds crazy but that’s typically how they go about these kind of scenarios. The world is crazy🤣
