Part 1: Neighbour Said I Was MAD For Mowing This Yard

  • I knocked on this random homeowners door after seeing the conditions of the front yard and asked if I can help mow their lawn. She said sorry I can’t afford it, I told her great let me be a blessing to you, I’ll do it for free, she jumped at the opportunity and said YES!
Due to the size, this video is Part 1. Stay tuned for Part 2 which will be the transformation and reveal of the backyard.
My goal is to bless a random family once a week and depending on the sizes and conditions of their yard I will need to split the video into two being Part 1 & 2.
Thank you so much to everyone who has watched, liked, comment and subscribed to my channel.

I was reading the comments from Parts I and II and am astonded by the condemnation on the owner. There are reasons why a condition of the yard and probably the home exists - physical disability, hoarding, mental incapacity, inability to get help. It is easy to make judgement and very hard to help someone that is experiencing that condition. The lady jumped at your offer to do the yard. Maybe, if warranted she'll get help for the interior if she needs it. At least you were there to make a start - maybe, just maybe her neighbors will help to maintain the yard now that itis manageable.

You are so correct Ms Lutz. I have a nasty autoimmune system disorder that is triggered by sulfur. I live in the Pacific Northwest where wildfires have become normal each summer and they give off huge amounts of sulfur. Long story short I become a hermit for 4-months living on stored food and filtered air. As such the yard looks great early spring and late fall but in-between no so nice.

Back when I could walk, I took my dog around the block. When I saw a house looking like this I thought the neighbors just didn’t know how to keep it organized and picked up. I used to scour the area next to the street pick up papers sticks. I didn’t go full blown and redo their yard. I wouldn’t have thought of that I would have thought that I would get in some sort of trouble for trespassing. Did anyone else have the same concern. Backspace?

It's not anyone's fault really. I'm a 72 year old widow with health problems... asthma with serious acerbations. That means frequent asthmatic bronchitis. I am not able to mow, especially in heat above 100° and Texas humidity that's been in the 98% range. My yard hasn't been mowed in a year and some of the weeds are more like trees at 7'. I've been waiting on my son to come mow, but with 4 young boys, a full time job with 12 hour days, and his own yard and house to take care of, he just doesn't have a lot of time. It's not his fault. It's just the way things are sometimes. People have their own lives, family, and homes to maintain and sometimes they just run out of time and forget to look around. My yard will get done at some point, but his time with his kids is more important than some grass. I'm glad there are people like Steve, Kevin (Juggernaut Lawn Care), Kevin's Dad (Cabin on the Hill), Spencer (SB Mowing and SB Power Washing), Brian (Top Notch Lawn Care), Al (Bladez Lawn Care), and AP (Clean the City). These are just some of the great guys out there and they are greatly appreciated! As Kevin says, he just goes where the Lord sends him! Thanks again to Steve and all the guys for the great and selfless work they do!

@@dragonmaster4429 Back when I could walk, I had two lawn mowers. I had one running and one in for upkeep. As time went on , I hired a small local company and they charged $35/week. They continue to do the work weekly. My neighbors have never offered to help in any way, not even when I asked to hire their kids. I have thought to ask the neighborhood women to help and also to post a sign on my front door. At one point I called local churches. I remember once perching my toddler on a blanket on the front yard and pushed my gas powered mower around. One neighbor asked if I needed someone to babysit. I answered no that I needed a man to mow. No one helped. Dragon Master I hope one of the fine men you named will help you.

Doesn’t seem, in the outer parts, that this situation is of terribly long standing. Backyard looks like a different story, though. Seems to have been a long time overall. Your effort was more then a blessing just to her, but the whole neighborhood and community! Maybe now her neighbors may help her out and keep her front yard cut. Suprised no one called the City on her. Her backyard was a dumping area for probably alot of people! TRIPLE BLESSINGS to you for having the courage to tackle that mess! ❤️

I was so pleased to see this video this morning. It brought a smile to my face, knowing that somewhere, someone has been given the gift of kindness and hope. It won't take long for the grass to green up and this lady can be proud of how good her home looks. Another job well done Steve. I look forward to the follow up video.

@@mowingwithsteve I watched both parts and you certainly are a blessing to these people. If she has children or grandchildren they can now play in the yard. I especially love to see you remove junk and trash. I hope you will continue to find yards with junk. Just wondering if you are in Australia or Michigan or where?

Great job! Between this video and the follow up, it looks like there are some feral cats in the neighborhood, possibly unneutered. Maybe a local animal control or shelter could do a round up and neuter on this bunch.

Bonjour Steve !

I am astonished by the number of homes that have metal/aluminum fencing. These are moderately priced properties and the cost of metal metal fencing in your part of the world must be extremely cost-effective compared to the U.S.

Always interesting to watch grass cutting in other Countries.
Here in the UK, we don't clear the edge of the road, pavements (sidewalks if you are in the USA), or anything the road side of the front boundary line.
This is because it is the local authority's responsibility and if the homeowners or their contractor did the work and caused damage to the road, pavement or verge, they would be liable.

My neighborhood has thousands of apartment rentals. Residents would cart their groceries home, and a pickup truck would drive around to reclaim the carts, for decades. Ten years ago, the grocery installed a security locking system on the wheels, as a stop gap for wandering carts.
