My daughter owned a home and was deployed overseas. Her neighbors, who didn’t know her from Adam, mowed her grass, watered her outdoor plants and literally babysat that property for the 2 years my daughter was away. When they found out she was coming home, they blessed her with a street party, so that she finally knew who her neighbors were. My daughter married the best friend of one of those neighbors just last year. Simply wonderful people.

Al, I saw your original video if this yard and now I'm watching your redo. My question is where are his neighbors in all this? When you talked to the neighbor on the right the first time, he said he thought the guy might have had a stroke or something. He also said he was about ready to call the county "again". What ever happened to LOVE THY NEIGHBOR?...or at least cut their lawn when they are unable to do it themselves. Obviously it is a nice, well kept neighborhood, but shame on the nearby neighbors who can't even offer a helping hand. God Bless you Al and your team. You are truely doing God's work.

My son and partber mows our neighbours lawns wh3n they mow ours and free of charge when they offer to pay my son declines to take it but after a few times they refused to take no thank you for an answer. Why they do that is our lawns are conjoined so when we have fresh cut lawns they do and it looks presentable and tidy. Thank you for what you do bless you and pray your nephew is getting better by the day.

Obviously abandoned, people like Al need to look up wholesale real estate and start buying and selling these houses with other peoples money and making $10,000 a house. That’s what I do for a living and I love it. It’s hard for people like me who aren’t necessarily out in the community like Al is. He has the perfect door open for him he’s just gotta ask 3 simple questions and could easily flip one of those houses in a week and have an extra $10,000+ for being out there doing these yard for free plus whatever he gets from UA-cam

Yes, the lawn was a mess again, but as you mowed it, it looked like the lawn itself was in better condition. Where last time there were just clumps of grass, this time it looked like grass was trying to reestablish itself in the earth. Sad to see the neighbors don't care enough about a neighbor to take turns maintaining the property. Glad I don't live on a street like that. When I was hurt in an accident a few years back, I was worried about how I was going to shovel my driveway during the winter. First snow of the year I looked out to see 3 neighbors, all with snowblowers doing my driveway. True, I did theirs often before my injury just because I could, but it was nice to see neighbors looking out for each other.

My uncle used to be the guy in his neighborhood to run the snowblower over everyone's sidewalks in the winter. They have lived in the same house for 50 years, so everybody knows them. The neighbors would usually step out and say thank you, and chat a bit. After doing one particular neighbor's sidewalk about five years, and never hearing so much as a "fuck you", he quit blowing their sidewalk. I don't blame him.

@@hattiem.7966 While I fully understand that some people don't have the equipment time or desire to mow a neighbor's yard. Many pay a lawn service to do their own and don't want to spend anything to clean up an unkempt lawn in the neighborhood. However, if it got to the point of being a health hazard, I would be calling the town daily to get it taken care of. If I was trying to sell my property, I would be more than willing to pay a service to clean up a neighborhood mess to allow me to get top dollar for my property. I also hate snakes and rats, and these abandoned properties attract vermin which in turn attracts snakes.

We lived out in the country when I was growing up. We mowed six acres with a push mower. There was no such thing as a self propelled mower back then. Luckily I had 8 brothers living at home. The first year we didn’t even have a gas lawn mower. If any of the boys got in trouble mom would make them mow the grass as punishment. We only had an old rotary push mower. The person mowing was the engine. Us kids all went together and saved all of our allowances all winter to buy a gas push mower before spring. With that many kids in the house someone was always mowing the grass. I’m not sure if it was lucky or not but I was allergic to the type of grass out there and had to stay in the house with a bandanna around my face when it was mowing time. I’ve mowed other grass since then and very seldom had a reaction. I’m now 64 and still have a tree and grass allergy. I get a shot in the spring and one in the fall. Sure miss that old farm house

I am a neighbor of this house. Just want everyone to know that this property has hardly ever been taken care of in the almost 25 years he has owned it. He had a stroke about 4 years ago and after his wife was put in the slammer over a year ago and he was put in a home it has been unoccupied. Don't know where the wife is now, but he does have a son that lives local and a sister. Neighbors have had to complain to Code Enforcement for years and basically nothing can be done. The county will not mow it. All they will do is fine him and he won't pay it. They said the weeds can grow over the house and they won't mow it. Us neighbors have mowed it several times and yes, we don't want to keep taking care of it. Since Al just mowed it, I am going to see if the neighbors will help me take care of it once again. There are a few new neighbors. I tried to get a yard service to do it a few weeks ago and he said, no. Too overgrown didn't want to ruin is mower. Most of the neighbors are elderly so they have lawn service themselves. I had open heart surgery less than a year ago, so it's hard enough keeping up my own property. If you think the outside is bad, you ought to see the inside. I was told black mold everywhere. It smells so bad just standing at the front door. So now you know the story. This guy never took care of his property or house, EVER. I know people are quick to judge, I am the same but now you know the rest of the story.

It's too bad the neighborhood has had to deal with this for so long but now that it's manageable again, you should try to get the neighbors to help at least keep the lawn short so vermin aren't living in it (and crawling the neighborhood). No need to do all the weed whacking, etc, but just run a lawn mower over it to knock it back down before it gets out of control.
If the owner is in a home and his wife is MIA, I bet the taxes are delinquent as well. Seems like a decent location. Maybe you'll get lucky and someone will buy it for a song, scrape the existing house off it and rebuild.

I understand the predicament. However, if the town is charging fines, and they are not getting paid, that is reason for foreclosure, which is their duty as a county. Also, I doubt anybody is paying taxes either, so another reason for the County to step up. In this low interest rate, high land value world, the County should be chomping at the bit to sell this property. Very odd.

I wish there was someone like you two years ago where we live. I had a one month baby and a 2 year old at that time and my husband was a truck driver so I was home by myself with the kids all the time. I also had a complicated labor experience with my second son and an issue with my back after a fall while I was 8mo pregnant. Our grass had gotten super tall and thick and we didn’t have the money for a riding lawn mower and my husband was never home to cut the grass, so it got bad. We were getting fined. And every lawn company I called either refused to do it or charged way more than I could afford. So I took our Rinky dink mower and while still healing from giving birth, forced myself to try and mow our lawn. The grass was so thick it ended up breaking the mower. I almost passed out from pain and exhaustion. My neighbors watched the whole time, and they knew full well of my situation.
While we are on this, my mother and step father also knew of the situation and lived about 35 minutes away and didn’t offer to help either. They also barely see their grandkids 🤷🏽‍♀️

Al you are such a sweetheart. I realize you get many views for your channel, and you deserve so much for the work you do for others. This is unbelievable that the house here in this video has overgrown x3 of its original condition. The mower you are using is a tank, you realize that greenery will continue to grow! I like your "Manscape products for my husband! Wish you lived near me in Calif outside San Francisco! I live on 3 acres badly in need of som love!

I've been watching AP's new channel as well...that dude is a hard worker. He cuts lawns like this with a whipper snipper and a push mower for God sakes... Hard worker.

You Guys are great! I thought the younger generation (I'm 73 and was saddened by the state of your generation)didn't give a shit about anyone but themselves...
There still might be hope for your generation thanks to people like you!!!
Keep up the wonderful work!! ... I can't help to wonder why the neighbors can't at least keep up the front yard! ... I guess they are not of your caliber of people.

Well as you can see your assumption is incorrect.
I've noticed that we tend to remember the bad things more then the good, I think this is some sort of primeval thing that reminded us of where the danger is lol (I cannot give any other explanation then this I'm sorry 😂).
I am glad he brightened your perception 👍.
Ps go check out post ten.... He's great and helps his community out loads by dispersing clogs in waterways. He also plays alot but I think he is funny and quite a pleasure to watch.

The problem is not the youth? it's the parenting! if the respect isn't there with them how are the younger ones supposed know what it is? thankfully some of the youth despite the lack of it at home can see that they dont want the shit they got in life and still want to be a better person!

Studies find millennials to be the most generous of all living generations, and as a 34 year old adult, I agree with that and I see it all the time. Your generation is the one that said "I've got mine, fuck the rest" and trashed the economy and environment.

I feel like a lot of men would've gotten too into that last one but you were very tasteful. With a young son, I certainly appreciate the good influence. Lol.

Maybe it’s just me, but that seemed to mow easier the 2nd time around, the unfortunate part of it is that you had to go back in a 2nd time. As far as the neighbors maintaining it , well I for one couldn’t lay judgement to that as I don’t know them or their circumstances, all can say is if I lived next door that lawn would have been maintained the lawn just for aesthetics a the least. Thank you for what you do young man you will be blessed for that.

Kinda late but it seems like the owner didnt keep up with it even when he was home for many years. One of the neighbors commented multiple times since the video's been up explaining the full story. Also explains why the other neighbors wont even bother. The owners family arent even pitching in, which definitely tells a story. I always give people the benefit of the doubt but getting context on this situation atleast explains why.

    • @DCHoosier62

@@pamanderson6055 Maybe the home owner has other issues? Does he suffer from depression, PTSD? Whatever the issue is, shouldn’t matter. Neighbors need to get involved. If the inside is horrible, can’t someone be “neighborly” and talk to the home owner, make arrangements to help out inside once in a while? Sometimes getting help will help his mental status, and he might start taking care of himself again. Maybe he sees that no one cares enough to check in on him, so “why should he care” ? 30 minutes a week might just be what it takes to show this man he isn’t alone in this world, and would help change his attitude. I don’t know, maybe people have tried and he is just a mean angry person that doesn’t want the help?
