The reason it says that the name frisk will make your life hell is because naming the fallen human Frisk at the beginning enables hard mode. Hard mode is something Toby fox wanted to add, but development never got past the Ruins. So Frisk playing through the entire Hard mode Underground caused the glitches, because post Ruins hard mode doesn't exist.
I would like to clarify that LV rises when you kill a monster. This is the usual way. And many reactioners were surprised when they saw that the LV had risen. "But nobody died" they thought. Glitchtale took this concept to the next level. Frisk's LV increased because he hurt Asriel with words. Mental pain is also considered, in addition to causing physical pain to others
Also worthy to mention is the fact that LV doesnt mean level but LOVE and that "LOVE too is an acronym, it stands for level of violent emotions" which makes you more deteched from the world, thus protecting you from harm (defence) while at the same time making it easier to harm others (attack).
also this is a referance on how certain action can actually give you more exp if you act mean in the game first for exemple on the one eyed monster (loox i think) if you pick on him then kill him you get more exp
Fun fact: naming yourself "Frisk" in the game triggers hard mode. However hard mode only allows you to reach the end of the first area before kicking you out. Since Frisk reached the ending with hard mode on, he broke the game.
fun fact: the fact monster bodies are mostly magic is why they melt when infused with determination(with a few exceptions) another fun fact: infusing a monster with enough determination could make them immortal so any scientist could easily doom a monster to an eternity of agony
Well not always melt boss monsters have some(part of why they naturally live forever and their souls persist after death) and even the fallen down almagans needed multiple injections but yeah overall determination is kind of a fate worse than death thing if enough is pushed into a monster( there could be a sweet spot for it but would not like to see the horrors born from trying to find it) Even undyne melts with determination if she just goes I will live if she instead goes I will fight well undying happens instead(I personally think of it as bossification aka making her more like a boss monster instead of a normal one)
@@1234andrewjacksmithpersonally I think the reason the amalgamates melted is because they where already dying. after all, undyne only melts when she is dying
@@gameingtothemax6266 she also melts right after reviving herself fully and stops dying if you kill her in normal run aka after her body stopes breaking apart
@@1234andrewjacksmith she doesn't start melting right after reviving herself as undying, she only melts when she dies as undying and when she is unable to refuse to die anymore in her normal form
@@gameingtothemax6266 she is successful at refusing to die in normal form she just starts melting right away and yes she reforges her body to handle it so she melts slower and lasts longer as undying
I love the "Spear of Justice" line because it's a reference to Undyne's theme, at least in all the non-genocide playthroughs, which is titled the same.
The reason the episode is called LOVE is because the LV that goes up at the end is not "level" but LOVE wich stands for Level Of ViolencE, a way of measuring a person's capacity to hurt. The more you hurt others, the more you distance yourself, the easier it becomes to do it again, and the more difficult it becomes for others to hurt you. This is why frisk hurt Asreil, and is pushing people away, as frisk said when Jessica called them kind "no. I'm not. Can't afford to be. Not anymore" they're trying to raise their LOVE in order to be able to beat Betty.
Well this is embarasing. I seem to have uploaded the unedited version of the vid. Got the edit coming up, but for now this vid still has everything embarrassing I do and cut out later. 😅
36:38 it wasn't a plot hole, i'm pretty sure they stated that Determination Can Defeat Fear but Fear Can Defeat Determination (like in the story Gaster Read) So They're Like Weak To Eachother
I think the Undyne vs Betty fight does give some validity that Determination is a good counter for Fear. Betty only won because she used Hate to win. If not for that, Betty might not have survived.
Fun fact: "This name will make your life hell" is in reference to Undertale's hard mode. That's the exact line that's used for if you pick the name Frisk, which starts hard mode. Hard Mode was never finished beyond the Ruins (basically the game's opening section/tutorial), so the implication is that Frisk making it all the way to Genocide Sans on Hard Mode is what caused the bugs. And a side note about Betty's hair turning pink: It means one of two things. The one to worry about is that it means Rhabdophobia might be ready, after consuiming enough souls. Alternatively... It means Betty is *terrified*. Finally, regarding LV: In-game, it's an acronym that stands for "Level of Violence". Your capacity to hurt. Your willingness to inflict harm on others. Canonically, humans are strong. INCREDIBLY strong. They are not restrained by physical growth, but their willingness to harm others. LV 1 is an innocent child. LV 20 is the end of a Genocide run. By inflicting harm (emotional) on Asriel, Frisk levelled up.
Remember the second episode of the first season, when Gaster first appeared. He watched the timeline that started all this, which was a genoside timeline, so he knows about Undyne's determination. He knows how unique of a monster she is and now that she can hold blood, nothing stops her from using her own determination without consequence.
What's EXP? It's an acronym. It stands for 'execution points.' A way of quantifying the pain you have inflicted on others. When you kill someone, your EXP increases. When you have enough EXP, your LOVE increases. LOVE, too, is an acronym. It stands for 'Level of Violence.' A way of measuring someone's capacity to hurt. The more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. The more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt. The more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others. - Sans
In OG Undertale, if you choose the name Frisk at the beginning of the game, the game prompts you with that "This name will make your life hell" thing. You learn that the human is named Frisk at the end of True Pacifist, but if you choose it at the start, it begins HARDMODE. Hardmode was never finished, and only involved a demo of the Ruins, where the basic encounters were tougher and more complex. Glitchtale is creating it's own narrative around 'Hardmode'.
Would it be assholish to admit I would have wanted toby fox to complete Hard Mode and make it it's own alternative scenario the first and last human to fall are the same and them putting in place a time-loop.
6:25 Probably no, judging by Gaster behaving kindly to Frisk in S1E4 and not giving any sign of remembering the fight from S1E2 Btw Undyne is also known for determination in Neutral route when you try to kill her (she just doesn't have that advanced armour in Neutral route, probably because Undyne doesn't see Frisk as someone so destructive and unnatural in Neutral route even despite high LV) One of the most popular Undyne theories is that in the game before any battle with Undyne, Alphys injected just a bit of determination into Undyne in order for Undyne not to become distorted, undead with full of pain amalgamate forever, but still partly feel that terrifying pain which amalgamates feel when melting away making Undyne stay alive and fight just a while longer even when her hp suggests that she will die in few seconds
The vial Kumu ate is the hate substance that was ejected from Chara after the events of season one. Somehow it was contained in a vial and Betty had Jessica grab it for her as a backup plan. So the hate generated from Frisk and Chara's timeline shenanigans didn't just disappear. It is a very powerful and unstable substance now.
Gaster was stabbed through the chest and soul from Betty. As a result, he has a scar in his soul. As for monsters bleeding, Sans is the only one who bleeds in cannon Undertale. Theory is that Sans isn't a normal monster, or it's just ketchup.
Some say she brought her chalice with her to collect the tears of other people in the audience to tide her over until she released the next glitchtale episode.
Frisk reaches LV2 one because LV is Level of Violence, and this implies that, in the Glitchtale universe, you can also raise your LV with emotional violence and hurting people's feelings too, not just by hurting them phisically, and this is why Frisk leveled up after hurting Asriel's feelings.
The reason that it seems like determination isn’t the only thing that can defeat fear, it is though. When undyne beat bete noire she was using her determination (undyne the undying). And gaster blasted bete with his determination (red blaster effect)
19:07 the souls were alive, but were unable to do anything for themselves (however at the end of the neutral route they do rebel against Photoshop Flowey when he's distracted) This hatred despite not technically being a living thing however isn't being subdued very well, probably because it isn't a living thing but s force of literal hatred and destruction.
Just to fill you in on some of the story beats you can think of determination and fear like the Green (Will) and Yellow (Fear) power rings from Green lantern. They claim to be the strongest and have the most potential over the other types but they can still be beaten by other characters with A LOT of effort. And when they are pit up against each other Fear beats will but the only thing that can overcome fear is Will. That's what they are doing with Determination and Fear. When you are determined nothing can stop you but fear corrupts all weakening determination until there is nothing left. *This part is an UNDERTALE spoiler* Monsters can not use the power of determination. When exposed to the power their bodies start to decay. The monster science teams have been trying to inject monsters with determination but its only led to failed machines and decaying abominations. THE ONLY MONSTER that could successfully wield determination is Undyne who not only wielded it but formed determination naturally as she was DETERMINED to stop you in the genocide path however even for her this led to her body decaying however much slower. In this Undyne fight with Betty she is using the same power but is resisting the negative effects much better than before. And since Undyne was using DETERMINATION to fight Betty she was just about to win if Kuma didn't consume the vial of hatred.
26:06 It'll provide some consolation, having something of a lost loved one... Lucky Frisk happened to find those scattered around the Waterfall region... Specifically behind a waterfall for the Tutu, and in some tall grass for the slippers... And then proceeded to humiliate Undyne wearing those... Yes that's how the game goes.
Fun Fact of my own: LV, or Level, or LOVE, in game is of course earned solely from killing monsters and gaining EXP! But Sans explains the in-lore mechanic that when you kill, you numb yourself to life, you desensitize, you find it less and less bothersome to hurt others, AKA "Your ATK increased." You find others hurt you less, they mean less to you, and it takes more to make you give up, AKA "Your HP increased." By distancing himself and purposely giving up their attachments to others, Frisk is slowly becoming more and more inclined to kill. They're raising their LV, in a sense :)
So naming your character frisk in game actually gives you that message. It’s acts kinda like an Easter egg mode where you only play through the first area, but all the monsters are replaced with their end-game variants. Also, idk if you covered this before and I’m forgetting, but canonically L.V. Stands for L.O.V.E. Which in turn stands for level of violence earned. And acts as a measure of someone’s capacity to hurt people which is why frisk leveled up when they hurt asriel. (Even though it wasn’t physically)
5:45 If this logic holds up to the base game and sans actually does bleed and isn't just hiding a ketchup packet in there as a last resort guilt trip method... then that means Sans was drinking surface ketchup that got thrown away.
4:25 No that was actually just referring to Betty stabbing his soul with her spear before Jessica shot her away. 5:30 Gaster isn't "infected" by fear or anything, the reason he couldn't teleport was that having the spear stab through his soul naturally left is damaged and cracked, which makes using magic difficult as magic draws on the soul. So if the soul is cracked trying to use magic will only make the damage worse, it's like damaging a muscle in your arm then trying to do work with that arm, you'll just damage the muscle even more. 6:35 It's not a consistency issue with Undertale either, it's explicitly mentioned in game that Monsters just turn to dust when dying, it also mentions that Monster bodies are mainly magic and not physical matter which is why they turn to dust. Sans bleeding is just another mystery about him. 7:25 I think it's more that it reinforces their magical body with physical matter rather than converting their magical bodies to physical bodies, cause even before monsters were sealed underground they still turned to dust when dying. 8:10 Gaster existed outside the timeline remember meaning the resets wouldn't effect him, so yes he does remember the Genocide timeline. Though even without the Genocide timeline he'd likely still know that Undyne possesses Determination. 10:26 Well that time it wasn't her being scared causing her hair to go more pink, that time it was just her charging Rhabdophobia. It's a bit confusing since they both are represented by the same thing (her hair turning more pink), so you have to also pay attention to her expression, when her hair turned more pink earlier in the fight when Undyne kicked her that was fear, but this time Betty's expression was just angry so that was just her charging Rhabdophobia rather than being scared. 10:40 And here is a crash course on the weakness of Rhabdophobia, against people like Gaster who can only make a certain number of magic constructs it can completely cripple them, but against most monsters who can create as many as they have the energy for like Undyne with her spears then Rhabdophobia doesn't really effect them unless they burn up most of their energy in a single attack. Undyne's spears are ridiculously cheap for her to make though so Betty had no real chance of using Rhabdophobia to turn the tides. 13:52 Re-watch what happened right before with the black of Hate overtaking Betty's face before receding as she starts coughing, and how her hair starts turning more pink. They pulled out because Betty is struggling to keep the Hate from overtaking her and that's scaring her, not cause they were running out of power. 15:36 Asgore giving a crash course in true fire, it's a woman scorned. 18:45 You have it in reverse, it's not that as her Fear grows Hate also grows, it's that as the Hate starts overtaking her she feels Fear. So it's more Hate leads to Fear, not that Fear leads to Hate. Though you also aren't technically wrong broadly speaking, the more she fought Undyne the more the Hate grew as she was drawing on Hate to heal and empower her attacks. 32:00 So this actually requires a bit of context. In Underale when the game asks you to "name the fallen human" the game tricks you into making you think you're naming the human you're playing as (Frisk) but in reality you're naming the FIRST fallen human (Chara). So canonically Frisk is the incorrect name to submit, and if you do you will receive that warning and if you accept it will enable Hard Mode (though Hard Mode is unfortunately incomplete and only covers the first region). In Glitchtale due to the timeline being glitched this only causes more issues in the timeline. 32:32 I don't think it's confirmed in Glitchtale whether Frisk knew about Chara right away or if they only became aware of Chara later, but yeah Glitchtale Frisk was aware of Chara well before he decided to do the Genocide run. 34:35 Funnily enough in game Undertale actually breaks the fourth wall and has Flowey acknowledge this near the end of the Genocide run, "You of all people must know how liberating it is to act this way. At least we're better than those sickos that stand around and WATCH it happen... Those pathetic people that want to see it, but are too weak to do it themselves. I bet someone like that's watching right now, aren't they...?" 39:30 This is actually a reference to a scrapped concept that never made it into the complete game, in development originally you could gain EXP/LV by sparing monsters through hostile means (such as lowering the monster's HP enough that they surrender, or by being mean to them), which makes sense with how LV is suppose to represent your capacity to inflict harm and not necessarily a measure of the harm you've inflicted. That's also why Frisk's LV has that little glitch effect when it increases, cause LV is not suppose to be able to raise that way but Frisk is abusing the glitched nature of the timeline to force it.
Lv measure's someone's capacity to hurt and exp is a way to quantify the amount of pain you inflicted onto others. When Frisk hurt Asriel at the end they gained enough exp by inflicting pain emotionally to gain Lv
If you didn't know, in the base game, undying has some determination. Even in the neutral route, instead of a normal death, she first starts to melt from determination trying to hold her together
31:58 That's actually from the game, if you name the fallen human Frisk, it displays that text, and if you continue, you enter the hard mode(though it is in complete and only goes until the end of the ruins before the anoying dog/toby stops you) 32:41 In the game Chara spirit follow Frisk from the moment they fall into the undergrown, no matter the route and does not try to murder or hurt anyone unless the one playing kills everything(and it is kind of vagely implied that leveling up corrupted them, but not confirm) . Frisk is never aware of Chara presence as far as we know, though they do seem to recieved some of their memorys.
Lv is An Acronym It stands For LOVE... Or Level Of Violence... A way to measure someone's capacity to hurt... The more you hurt... The less you will be hurt.... And the more you can bring yourself to hurt..... Frisk used the Glitches To Hurt Asriel Mentally so they could Gain LOVE
I recommended you to check the dates of each episode, as every chapter took at least 6 month or more in the lastest ones(of season 2) First episode started in october 24 of 2016, and the last episode was on december 3 of 2021
Yeah that is an incredible amount of absolutely fascinating animations, comics, and stories revolved throughout this community. I would highly recommend continuing your reactions as their very entertaining. I would also recommend underverse after you finish glitchtale as similarly t9 glitchtale it has a extremely interesting story. There were warning against it as some people think you should understand the au’s more, but honestly you have a pretty stellar understanding of how stories work and characters so I think underverse does a good enough job of getting character motivations across where you could enjoy it without full context of everything. It could even introduce you to some characters you might want to learn more about. Lastly I would really find it interesting if you reacted to the way gaster is portrayed in undertale because it is so fascinating how since we know so little about him it leads to so many different interpretations which I find very incredible.
The whole “you’d be dead, where you stand” thing is gaster, saying, the same thing that sans said to frisk in the underground after toriel made him promise to “look after the human and do them no harm”lol like father like son
Guys, You know, actually, Jessica KNOWS what Gaster feels. They BOTH lost THEIR CHILD. So they are similar, actually! Jessica know Gaster's pain! And that's actually would be pretty cool if she heard what Gaster said and like: "OH YEAH?! ACTUALLY, I KNOW WHAT IT'S LIKE! I LOST MY CHILD TOO!" And Gaster like: "..." *shocked* Well, that's all, see you later! Thanks for attention!
37:48 LV measures one's capacity to hurt, however it's never explicitly stated that it had to be physical harm... This, is their plan... Be the scummiest bag on the sewer side street to grind LV without taking a life... With higher LV they are stronger in all regards...
You noticed how Betty's hair becomes more pink the more she's afraid and how it always goes full pink when Hate takes over ? Betty may be horrible, but Hate is worse. It even scares Betty herself. This could be used as a reason to save her from the Hate. Being in this situation where she can't be herself and is controlled could give her time to think and make her realize that she can become whatever she wants to be, not just what she was created for. If she gets freed from the Hate that is. Like she said, the reason for her existence is slipping out of her grasp, which could lead her to reconsider said reason. Well actually, the proper term would be "she could have been" not "she could be", but I won't elaborate because of spoilers.
One doesnt Level up by killing. Its Hurting someone If you hurt a person, our "EXP" will go UP, a way to Quantify how much pain you have inficted, and with enough EXP, your LOVE/LV Increases
Frisk leveled up because its LV (level of violence) he made intentinally psycological damage to asriel to rise his level of violence at the same time he made himself not able to go back to normallity. LV in undertale is the measure of mow much you can hurt others, the more you hurt the easier is to distance yourself and hurt others and the more distanced you are from yourself the less damege you'll take. Thats why you gain attack and hp with LV Hope you read this as I think it mkes frisks psychology the mor interesting and makes you see the world system diferently but at the same time I dont want you to get spoiled by coments...
Undyne’a yellow spears are special direction changing spears that are used to disorientate opponents and the thousands of blue circles on the ground attack was actually thousands of spears rising up
9:00 Yellow spears in game were reverse spears if they came and you from the left thy would swap over to the right and vice versa 23:42 Nope that's her pet we usually only see the face of it as it tries to eat Frisk in game 26:27 Which is exactly what Sans told Frisk when he said that if Toriel hadn't made him promise to protect Frisk 39:29 While you play through Undertale you notice that there's two things that raise as you kill monsters LOVE (lv) and EXP. LOVE stands of Level Of ViolEnce "A way of measuring someone's capacity to hurt". EXP stands of EXecution Points "A way of quantifying the pain you have inflicted on others. When you kill someone, your EXP increases." So because he hurt Asriel his LOVE increase. Frisk is doing this because LOVE "increases HP and AT when it rises, and some levels increase DF as well." so he's trying to get his attack up knowing the only way this will happen is if his LOVE increases.
31:00 : They were a part from the start. One of the main Undertale theory is that Chara is the one making the narration in the text boxes. And I mean there is a lot going for this theory and nothing against it so people more or less consider it canon at this point. Glitchtale go with their spin on this idea that chara ghost followed Frisk around from the start. Also ''Name the fallen human'' is the name you give Chara yourself (who can be named any name, that isn't already used by other characters, by the player), while Frisk is the fixed name of the protagonist. We call the fallen human Chara because it's a choice that give in-game a 'flavor text' saying : Their true name. Frisk putting their own name in place of Chara also mean they erased Chara existence by theirs in this timeline, which in-game provoke the hard mode, and probably why Chara got so mad, more mad than usual, at Frisk.
35:35 I think it was meant to be more of "Determination is the only thing strong enough to challenge Fear. Not necessarily its counter, since Determination lost the first time. But that was with a different user and the first time Fear had manifested. Now its Round 2. The same (well, until Hate takes over) Fear versus a different user of Determination.
To give you an idea of why Frisk is now doing what he's doing, he's trying to distance himself from the world. The more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt, and the more you can bring yourself to hurt others. Kinda a funny way to describe how levels work, huh? Anyways, the next episode is one of the most well treated episodes of season 2. Hope you enjoy the show =)
prepare to have your heart DESTROYED next episode, part 1 is just the beginning and part 2 goes so much deeper. But episode five is the most heartbreaking thing I have ever seen or read. I wont spoil anything but episode five hits harder then any other, it WILL make you cry. Everytime I rewatch it I end up in tears and the moment you read the TITLE of episode 5 you will realize why. I love your reactions to this series and I wish more people did something like this
From now on i suggest to up the uploading schedule for this series because a lot of story elements are going to be important to remember. So it is highly recommended to keep the information fresh for those reocurring plot points. Cool reaction as always !
As Flowey and Toriel put it in Undertale: Flowey: "LV" stands for "LOVE" (Tries to trick you into touching his LOVE bullets which hurt you instead) Toriel: "LOVE" means "Level Of ViolencE", a way of measuring someone's capacity to hurt. The more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. The more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt. The more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others.
2:58 that guy is the pre-incident version of one of the Gaster Followers, a group of individuals that appear on certain FUN values (they all appear on different FUN values) and tell the story of the former Royal scientist (Gaster) falling into his own creation (assumed to be the Core) and getting shattered across reality More in Replies
5:31 This is more like his soul was slightly damaged and him, trying to over exert his magic, is making that damage worse, like how stretching a flesh wound can make the wound worse
7:40 Probably not, this whole "monsters getting a physical form from eating human food" is pulling from the fact that monsters are almost entirely made of magic, this is why they turn to dust in the first place and why Determination (DT) makes most monsters melt (this is how the amalgamates happened). Humans not only have exceptionally stronger souls but also a physical form, plus depending on the story, they have a lack of magic to begin with. Basically, what I'm saying is that it's probably harder to remove the physical form from a human than it is to give a physical form to a monster, adding mater versus subtracting mater.
8:09 Going back to the Gaster Followers, one of them say and I quote "Well, I needn't gossip. After all, it's rude to talk about someone who's listening." Meaning that Gaster most likely knows about all the Resets, probably even more than Sans, considering the Resets most likely had no effect on him while he was in the void and we know he was aware of what was happening in the world.
I don't know whether I can't wait for his reaction to the next one, or dread it. It has one of the coolest scenes in any AU ever, plus one of the most depressing. Or maybe that's the one after...
Fun fact that took me way too long to realize: when Kumu ate the Hate vial, it COMPLETELY took over Betty for the rest of that fight. It's kind of hard to tell since in that moment both Betty and Hate's goals would be to kill Undyne, but no, after that point Betty is more or less unconscious until the end of the fight. So yeah the Marvel symbiote analogy kind of works? Except for the fact that, at least in Betty's case, their relationship is very much not... well, "symbiotic" lol. It's more like a parasite, which gives her temporary power boosts and healing abilities, but if she relies on it too much then it will completely take over.
In the Undertale universe, 'LV' doesn't stand for 'Level', it means 'Level of Violence', which means how willing are you to hurt someane, thats why it Frisk reach LV2 after that Flowey line to Asriel.
hatred empowers whatever uses it. It makes one stronger but it takes over the more it's relied upon. She could go around full power all the time, using hatred... But it would usurp her if she didn't use it very, very sparingly. Brief bursts are okay, if one puts plenty of time between. But she was already pushing it with the fight with Undyne (pronounced similarly to Undying. As she was known as Undyne the Undying).
In OG Undertale, no monsters can survive determination for extended periods of time. Undyne was the only one who could use it innately, but even she melted soon afterward. In Glitchtale, it appears that monsters are capable of holding determination for longer, and Undyne is just completely fine with using it for as long as she wants.
@@beastcarleeto707 Maybe, maybe. We'll see! Let's hope that it's gonna be at least next week, it doesn't matter when exactly, just next week would be amazing to me
also, I am pretty sure gaster, before saying "Only determination can beat fear" also said "Only fear can beat determination" and also being determined to do something can actually make you overcome fear, but sometimes that determination may not be enough stopping you from achieving your goal, so I think thats the logic here it may be different i dont know just this is what i think
Just to explain something I don’t see being explained by others (never mind I’m wrong about that but I thing this explains it pretty well) but it’s about the hate vs fear thing. In that part where Betty’s hair when down and the hate going a way wasn’t a “fear leads to hate” although that be really cool reference, it was her using her power to suppress the hate. So no she can still be herself but she now has to watch how much power she uses otherwise the hate could take over again. This also means if she uses hate it gets more powerful thus needing more power to suppress. And yes your are right about the hate, it’s like the symbiot in more ways then you might think. It powers one’s soul power but it takes over the user. (That’s why her hair goes all pink as her hair shows her power.) It’s goal seemed to be kill everything and that conflicts with Betty’s plan on making everyone fear her and to make it so monsters and humans never live together (you should look at the origin story of Betty to learn more why for that)
Frisk leveled up at the end because they hurt someone, when you hurt someone it becomes easier to do so again leading you to do more damage the next time, it also makes you less hurt by others and such you take less damage in the future
The LV stands actually for LOVE which may appear weird but it stands for Level of Violence. People or Frisk in this case can have EXP (Execution Points) which is a number to define how much pain a person conflicted on others. If enough EXP is achieved, their LOVE increases together with their stats. Level of Violence is a way to measure someone's capacity to hurt others and usually becomes more distant from themselves. Basically the more LOVE a person has the easier it is to hurt others and the harder it is for others to hurt you. In the game it is achieved with killing Monsters but since Frisk doesn't want to do that, they just hurt them a lot psychologically to become stronger. The maximum LV you could achieve in Undertale is 20. However in Glitchtale, Frisk never managed to get more than LV 19 since you need to kill every monster in the Underground including Sans which Hate Corrupted Chara failed to do so in the first episode.
Also, I don't think he knows naming "the fallen human" means naming Chara, the first fallen human
Well there is a fan-made game that makes hard mode encompass the whole game but as far as what Toby Fox made your correct.
E
OHHHHHH and thats why frisk and chara switch places fixed it

Fun fact: naming yourself "Frisk" in the game triggers hard mode. However hard mode only allows you to reach the end of the first area before kicking you out. Since Frisk reached the ending with hard mode on, he broke the game.

Well not always melt boss monsters have some(part of why they naturally live forever and their souls persist after death) and even the fallen down almagans needed multiple injections but yeah overall determination is kind of a fate worse than death thing if enough is pushed into a monster( there could be a sweet spot for it but would not like to see the horrors born from trying to find it)
Even undyne melts with determination if she just goes I will live if she instead goes I will fight well undying happens instead(I personally think of it as bossification aka making her more like a boss monster instead of a normal one)
Undyne really showing man character energy there.
The reason the episode is called LOVE is because the LV that goes up at the end is not "level" but LOVE wich stands for
Level Of ViolencE, a way of measuring a person's capacity to hurt.
nono leave it unlisted XD
It's fine, really, we didn't lose much 😄
36:38 it wasn't a plot hole, i'm pretty sure they stated that Determination Can Defeat Fear but Fear Can Defeat Determination (like in the story Gaster Read) So They're Like Weak To Eachother
I think the Undyne vs Betty fight does give some validity that Determination is a good counter for Fear. Betty only won because she used Hate to win. If not for that, Betty might not have survived.
Who said Betty won? Retreating is not a victory in my eyes.
@@maxentirunosno..?
6:25 Probably no, judging by Gaster behaving kindly to Frisk in S1E4 and not giving any sign of remembering the fight from S1E2
Btw Undyne is also known for determination in Neutral route when you try to kill her (she just doesn't have that advanced armour in Neutral route, probably because Undyne doesn't see Frisk as someone so destructive and unnatural in Neutral route even despite high LV)
One of the most popular Undyne theories is that in the game before any battle with Undyne, Alphys injected just a bit of determination into Undyne in order for Undyne not to become distorted, undead with full of pain amalgamate forever, but still partly feel that terrifying pain which amalgamates feel when melting away making Undyne stay alive and fight just a while longer even when her hp suggests that she will die in few seconds
Yeah but he’s bleeding through his mouth…
@@Zebbigcoolnope
His chest is red too
I mean sans bleeds through his mouth when he got slashed
Sans is also implied to be using Determination
Likely possibility is that the ketchup exploded in his ribcage and burst through.
Fun fact. Camilla loved the twist ending to Infinity War.
Some say she brought her chalice with her to collect the tears of other people in the audience to tide her over until she released the next glitchtale episode.
@@RiconortThat's what that was in animosity? Lol
Huh, didnt know that. Cool!
Ye
yea I can see that
Frisk reaches LV2 one because LV is Level of Violence, and this implies that, in the Glitchtale universe, you can also raise your LV with emotional violence and hurting people's feelings too, not just by hurting them phisically, and this is why Frisk leveled up after hurting Asriel's feelings.
The reason that it seems like determination isn’t the only thing that can defeat fear, it is though. When undyne beat bete noire she was using her determination (undyne the undying). And gaster blasted bete with his determination (red blaster effect)
19:07 the souls were alive, but were unable to do anything for themselves (however at the end of the neutral route they do rebel against Photoshop Flowey when he's distracted)
This hatred despite not technically being a living thing however isn't being subdued very well, probably because it isn't a living thing but s force of literal hatred and destruction.
*This part is an UNDERTALE spoiler*
Monsters can not use the power of determination.
The plot gets darker but the animation gets way better

THANK YOU
IVE WAITED FOR THIS FOR DAYS
Waiting a week for these is more painful than I could’ve expected 😭
The fact that UA-cam doesn't always notify me of every video either Dx
26:06 It'll provide some consolation, having something of a lost loved one...
Lucky Frisk happened to find those scattered around the Waterfall region...
Specifically behind a waterfall for the Tutu, and in some tall grass for the slippers...
And then proceeded to humiliate Undyne wearing those...
Yes that's how the game goes.
Fun Fact of my own: LV, or Level, or LOVE, in game is of course earned solely from killing monsters and gaining EXP! But Sans explains the in-lore mechanic that when you kill, you numb yourself to life, you desensitize, you find it less and less bothersome to hurt others, AKA "Your ATK increased." You find others hurt you less, they mean less to you, and it takes more to make you give up, AKA "Your HP increased."
By distancing himself and purposely giving up their attachments to others, Frisk is slowly becoming more and more inclined to kill. They're raising their LV, in a sense :)
Just finished glitchtale and I have to say you are in for a treat!
Amazing this came out as soon as I got ready to eat, great timing and keep up the amazing work with these reactions.
😊
So naming your character frisk in game actually gives you that message. It’s acts kinda like an Easter egg mode where you only play through the first area, but all the monsters are replaced with their end-game variants.
Also, idk if you covered this before and I’m forgetting, but canonically L.V. Stands for L.O.V.E. Which in turn stands for level of violence earned. And acts as a measure of someone’s capacity to hurt people which is why frisk leveled up when they hurt asriel. (Even though it wasn’t physically)
33:42
Frisk was expecting to be cast into whatever mysterious abyss of pre-game asset storage they popped out of....
I bet someone like that's watching right now, aren't they...?"
39:30 This is actually a reference to a scrapped concept that never made it into the complete game, in development originally you could gain EXP/LV by sparing monsters through hostile means (such as lowering the monster's HP enough that they surrender, or by being mean to them), which makes sense with how LV is suppose to represent your capacity to inflict harm and not necessarily a measure of the harm you've inflicted.
The plot ✨ thickens ✨
HELL YEAH
@@aichaamara392 >:)
fun fact: within the bone marrow, there's blood, because its where cells like red blood cells spawn.
Lv standing for Level of Violence means that Frisk is gaining violence without gaining exp which means Execution Points.
LV in undertale means something very specific, it isn’t just level.
They spell this out next episode, actually! :)
Not gonna lie, Undyne going full Gilgamesh was way too fun to watch.
Real
Fun fact in genocide run undyne gets filled with determination and gets a armor with a red heart that symbolizes determination
If you didn't know, in the base game, undying has some determination. Even in the neutral route, instead of a normal death, she first starts to melt from determination trying to hold her together
she has more DT than other monster* and she melts because the DT is too much for her body to handle
36:42 undying vs Betty shows that determination CAN beat fear Betty just got lucky with that hate vial that she had and it's anoying
12:28 That slash on Undyne's armor is a reference to the game. In the Genocide route you pretty much cut Undyne in half.
IT KEEPS GETTING SADDER
we are the two sanitys
31:58 That's actually from the game, if you name the fallen human Frisk, it displays that text, and if you continue, you enter the hard mode(though it is in complete and only goes until the end of the ruins before the anoying dog/toby stops you)
32:41 In the game Chara spirit follow Frisk from the moment they fall into the undergrown, no matter the route and does not try to murder or hurt anyone unless the one playing kills everything(and it is kind of vagely implied that leveling up corrupted them, but not confirm) .

6:03 I'm fairly sure the human would just wither away and die.
I LOST MY CHILD TOO!" And Gaster like: "..." *shocked*
Well, that's all, see you later! Thanks for attention!

EMOTIONAL DAMAGE counter: 2
Its Hurting someone
If you hurt a person, our "EXP" will go UP, a way to Quantify how much pain you have inficted, and with enough EXP, your LOVE/LV Increases
Thats why you gain attack and hp with LV
Hope you read this as I think it mkes frisks psychology the mor interesting and makes you see the world system diferently but at the same time I dont want you to get spoiled by coments...
Fear beats determination and determination beats fear
4:22 Don't worry, it's reminding us of his "almost" death in the last episode. You saw it, he was saved, if he wasn't, he would die.
Undyne’a yellow spears are special direction changing spears that are used to disorientate opponents and the thousands of blue circles on the ground attack was actually thousands of spears rising up
Your heart is gonna get ripped up glued back to gather and then shredded by a mixer of emotions
9:00 Yellow spears in game were reverse spears if they came and you from the left thy would swap over to the right and vice versa
23:42 Nope that's her pet we usually only see the face of it as it tries to eat Frisk in game
26:27 Which is exactly what Sans told Frisk when he said that if Toriel hadn't made him promise to protect Frisk
39:29 While you play through Undertale you notice that there's two things that raise as you kill monsters LOVE (lv) and EXP.
Ep 5 is gonna be alot sadder after you finish ep 4 part 2 😔
Something I just noticed after all these years. Right before she gets hit by the spear of justice, she isn’t trying to run… she protects kumu
16:30 HAHAHAH I LOVE ACCIDENTAL FORESHADOWING

Cool reaction as always !
As Flowey and Toriel put it in Undertale:
Flowey: "LV" stands for "LOVE" (Tries to trick you into touching his LOVE bullets which hurt you instead)
Toriel: "LOVE" means "Level Of ViolencE", a way of measuring someone's capacity to hurt. The more you kill, the easier it becomes to distance yourself. The more you distance yourself, the less you will hurt. The more easily you can bring yourself to hurt others.
2:58 that guy is the pre-incident version of one of the Gaster Followers, a group of individuals that appear on certain FUN values (they all appear on different FUN values) and tell the story of the former Royal scientist (Gaster) falling into his own creation (assumed to be the Core) and getting shattered across reality
More in Replies
8:57 It's best to just watch an Undyne fight to understand what yellow spears are. Foot notes for yellow spears: they move to try and trick the victim
9:30 Betty is right about monsters not being able to have Determination, Undyne just doesn't care
determination is the key to damage bete the most and thus is the best option
I'm pretty sure you forgot to cut the beginning part before starting, but the context of the previous episode and everything I found it super cool
The worst part is that I did this by accident yesterday too. 😅🤦♂️
19:00 well she is so far fear-goo with a plan and now she has hate-goo in her body.
i cant wait to see you react to the rest its so amazing but insane! which might explain why i love the series
The reason it's believed that only determination can beat fear is because only determination has the *power* to defeat it, as far as they know.
Oh hey I started watching this at 13 minutes released. Anyways this is gonna be a blast when you get to later events.

They also said that Fear is the only thing that can defeat Determination. It’s not completely unfounded, as far as they know.
You see the thing is LV stands for LOVE, LOVE too is an acronym; meaning Level Of ViolencE
also, I am pretty sure gaster, before saying "Only determination can beat fear" also said "Only fear can beat determination" and also being determined to do something can actually make you overcome fear, but sometimes that determination may not be enough stopping you from achieving your goal, so I think thats the logic here it may be different i dont know just this is what i think
Here we go.
37:47 Psychological damage to a monster
