There's "Who mr Gaster is and why he's important to deltarune", summarises canon gaster very well.
And there's "undertale the musical" which tells the entire story of the game through a musical, every song being the ost of the game given lyrics"

The backstory between Chara and Asriel/Flowey in this one is canon, not an alternate backstory - here is a basic overview (MAJOR SPOILERS if you plan to play Undertale yourself in the future):
Basically, Chara fell into the underground many years before the main story and grew up as an adopted sibling to Asriel, the monster prince. Knowing that a human soul was needed for a monster to cross the barrier and 7 souls total were needed to break it, Chara came up with a plan - they would poison themselves and die, and Asriel would take their soul, use it to cross into the human world, kill 6 more humans for a total of 7 souls, and break the barrier to free all monsters. However, once Asriel crossed the barrier with Chara's soul, he realized he didn't actually have it in him to kill 6 people, so he didn't kill anyone, came back badly injured from the humans attacking him, and died in the monster world without breaking the barrier. His dust spread across the king's flower garden, and golden flowers bloomed there. Afterwards, when Alphys was doing experiments to try to find a different way of breaking the barrier, she took a flower that was infused with Asriel's dust and injected it with extracted Determination. This accidentally revived Asriel as Flowey - however, even though he had all his memories, he had no soul and therefore couldn't feel love or compassion for anyone. This led to him becoming an antagonist in the main story

One of my favorite things about glitchtale, isnt even the story itself, but you get to witness an animator developing their skills throughout, ESPECIALLY in season 2
The colors are the soul aspects, in the game there are points where either the attacks or your soul changes color and gain different properties, also the 7 human souls each also has a color and a aspect associated with them:
Red: Determination, default soul. Also determination is how the power to manipulate the timeline is called
Orange: Bravery, orange atacks can be avoided if you are moving when they hit you
Yellow: Justice, when your soul becomes yellow you can shoot projectiles like a shoot'em up game
Green: Kindness, green projectiles heal you, also when your soul becomes green you gain a shield and can't move so you have to block the attacks instead of dodging them
Cyan: Patience, Cyan attacks can be avoided if you stand still when they hit you
Blue: Integrity, When your soul becomes blue you get the control scheme of a 2d platformer and can jump rather than move freely
Purple: Perceverance, when your soul becomes purple you can only move between predetermined positions rather than moving freely
there is also a secondary thing to be said... you can actually find all the various items either in a handful of shops, or different corners of the underground, where it is likely believed to be spots the children died in, as each one failed to reach the end... thus each of the items shown the souls were wearing is also items they had when alive

We are not sure about the Red Soul, nowhere in undertale was it said that this is exactly determination, only on the saves, there are only mentions of "games" and "you" associated with the Red Soul. And also Deltarune with the same soul, it seems to say that this soul means "player".

Also, Determination already has a canon color. Gold means Determination. Determination is marked with gold color on the True Lab's entries. Flowey is a being fueled by raw Determination, and Flowey is a golden flower. Even the Save Points are golden.
To explain a little of Gaster, he was literally erased from existence, no one remembers he existed (though Sans is implied to have at least some recollection of him in canon, and does remember him in Glitchtale). That's also why he's trapped in that little room, cause that room is something that exists outside of reality but is still connected to the timeline.

In canon Undertale Chara commits suicide so that Asriel would take her soul so that he can cross the Barrier, acquire 6 more souls from humanity, and then use the combined power of 7 human souls to destroy the Barrier of free monsters, however Asriel is too merciful so by the time he actually reached the human village nearby he refused to fight resulting in his death as well. This eventually led to Asriel being unintentionally revived as the emotionless Flowey by Alphys as part of her Determination experiments, and Chara's soul latching onto Frisk's soul when they eventually fell into the Underground.

25:38 flowey and chara's (pronounced kara cuz its a shortened version of character) past is not changed from the base game, flowey before being a flower was asriel the prince of the monsters and chara was the first human child to fall in the underground. Chara and Asriel were best friends and chara came up with a plan to free the monster, the plan was for chara to poison themselves and die so that asriel took their soul, leave the underground collect 6 more souls and break the barrier with them. The reason Chara was calling flowey a traitor is that asriel at the last second refused to kill humans leading to both their deaths.
The fact that you correct Chara and not Flowey is… interesting. Especially since last I checked that’s a debate that is still happening.

Normally, Sans doesn't have memories of previous timelines. Like most characters in game - He just has a weird sense of Deja Vu every time he re-experiences something.
But since he is smarter than he seems - he actually managed to figure out hoe timelines work, so when he experiences those feelings - he knows he's been through this before, but he can't exactly remember the past fully.
Only beings that posses, or used to posses, the power of Determination, like Flowey, Chara and Frisk, are fully self-aware
And even then, not always.
Flowey’s memories can definitely be True Reset-ed.
Frisk’s and Chara’s are still debatable, but... considering Frisk doesn’t display any signs of awareness (such as turning before Sans told them to, for example), I’m kinda wondering if True Reset just... erases every previous timeline completely.
Which sounds kinda weird when put that way.
So... does anyone have any kind of “normal” interpretation of how that works?
That thing always came out of nowhere anyway. Like, since when is the DT user able to choose whose memories a Reset affects?

@@Kayta-Lindat's implied by Flowey if you press continue after the Pacifist ending that True Reset will basically be a combination of both Reset and Erase, essentially erasing the previous timeline and creating a new one.

In Glitchtale, he has memorie of it due to the glitch that had set all those events in the firt place.
In many fan content he knows, but it is never explained why.
The reanimation of Megalomaniac was done by 2 artists that aren't the original Glitchtale artist.
Basically, the first half was done by one artist, and the second half (when Frisk changed to Chara) was done by the other artist. It was a full artist and artstyle change.

for the question of if gaster is in DR
every time you go through one screen transition in chapter 1, there is a small chance you may be brought to a room with a tree. well, there is a man behind the tree(obscured from view by the tree ofc), he offers you an egg. if you say YES, the egg is added to KEY ITEMS. if you say NO, what egg? either way, afterwards: well, there is not a man behind the tree.
there are many potential shenanigans that may occur, you can put the egg in a fridge and itll become two eggs(if you do this, it will also dissapear a jar of pickles thats in that fridge), you can unsteal it by putting it in a basket of loose eggs, you can even add it back to your inventory by returning to the dark world(its unknown if thats intentional but i think thats kind of the point)
with the egg, if you check a car in chapter 2, it will say: "its a car. there is even a man in this one. he waves at you happily." :D
additionally, there is an alleyway with grafitti of the tree, that transition also has a chance of teleporting you to a secret room. a room with a tree. there is a man behind the tree. he may be happy to see you. if you say YES, the egg was added to your KEY ITEMS. if you say NO, nothing happens. well, there is not a man behind this tree.

I wasn't expecting you to watch all of Season 1 Glitchtale so quickly
Binge watching Season 2 won't be quite as simple, and you definitely need to be prepared
You'll get a full-on taste of exactly how cruel Camilla can be to the characters

For Chara's name, people say "CHara" as in "Charmander" but other people, like me, like to say "Chara" as in "Character"
There is no real way to say it, so just go with whatever sounds better to you
In Mine Russian Its CHara Because Kara On Russian Would Be Strange, But In English Its Chara From The Word "Character".
One other tiny little tidbit for ya, the red and blue eyes for gaster symbolize the fact that he is most likely the father of both sans and papyrus, this can also be seen as his main type of magic is based on the sole type of perseverance or purple, if red and blue combined make purple then if you take purple apart you get red and blue or in this case the skeleton bros

I' ma list some "important" easter eggs
EP1: you have almost everything you need.
EP2: There is no fight against Gaster in undertale, his powers correlate to the habilities of the 7 human souls or at least what the colours of the souls are related to, green has a shield and green attacks heal, yellow shoots bullets and the yellow soul had a gun as a weapon, blue is a chainsaw because the blue soul had a knife, etc.
EP3, first the faceless dog like thing at the beggining is supposed to be completely inmortal in undertale and chara just kills it, one of the failed experiments.
The iron maiden as you called it is the DT (allegedly standing for Determination) extractor, wich was probably used in alphys's experiments with souls.
EP4: Sans has already killed flowey endless times before and flowey holds a grudge because of that, remember that flowey used to have control of the timeline before frisk
EP5: Chara Frisk and the player seem to be 3 separate entities using the same body in undertale, Chara is not a corrupt devilish being in the game but gets both brought back from death and corrupted by the player in the genocide route, this episode is the extreme of this corruption.
Asriel and the human souls are already like that in the actual game having those exact same weapons in game, but asriel being the one who designed the Chaos Saber (his sword) is new for the animation.
The only thing we know about the souls are their "weapon", their "clothing" and their biggest trait represented by the colour of their soul

Pronunciations and pronouns for the series (at least to my knowledge):
Frisk: He/Him
Chara: Car - ra, He/Him
Flowey: Flower but with a y instead of a r, and I'm not about pronouns but probably He/Him
Asriel: He/Him
The dusting thing with monsters is to symbolize their dying/dead.
The human souls each represent a different magic (Minor Spoilers):
Red - Determination : This allows user to come back from the dead, along with increased strength, speed, regeneration, and the ability summoning shields and weapons. This also allows for full timeline resets. This is by FAR the rarest with only 1 or MABYE 2 people having it at one time.
Orange - Bravery : This allows the user to create explosions, control fire, and increased stamina and endurance.
Yellow - Justice : This allows the user to summon and shoot different projectiles like tiny pellets.
Green - Kindness : This allows the user to heal others at an accelerated speed (this uses the targets stamina/life force; however, the user can use their own), along with small wall shields.
Light Blue - Patience : This allows the user to create tendrils that can either be razor thin to cut someone or something, or super thick to capture someone or something. In extremely rare cases limited time control as well.
Dark Blue - Integrity : This allows the user to change their own gravity with platforms, along with controlling kinetic energy.
Purple - Perseverance : This allows the user to summon bladed weapons that do lasting damage that make it hard to heal, pierce defenses, summon armor, possibly come back from the dead, and better stamina and endurance.
I won't do Hate or pink because too many spoilers.
If there's anything I missed or said wrong, please correct me.

Here we go, geez, this is going to be great! ep 4 still has my favorite Undertale AU fight. Yes, there's a lot of better animations out there, but I just remember the unbelievable hype I had when I watched it for the first time

The hands are different kinds of magic he has access to, all based on soul traits from the game.
Yellow = Justice (bullets basically)
Green = kindness (defensive/healing magics)
Light blue = Patience (tentacles/vines to restrict)
Dark Blue = Integrity (the chakram things)
Purple = Perseverance (essentially an attack mirror, it copies the attacks thrown at it, however, like a mirror, there's only so much it can reflect, so overwhelm it)
Red = determination (no real "parallel" here just basic blasts and stuff unique to Gaster)

During the Omega Flowey fight at the end of a neutral run you get enter a mini-game which each of the human soul each involving one of the weapons (where if you hit the act button you get healing items instead stuff to avoid. As you can see each weapon is coated in white around the human souls in the animation.

As far as Gaster's concerned Game Theory has a couple of videos on him as does 2 Left Thumbs. The relationship between him and any of the monsters is purely speculative. All of the abilities that Asriel used before the human souls part of the fight are actual attacks he uses in the True Pacifist Ending.

So happy you're watching this! I hope you can get around to playing the game itself as well, it will help a lot of this just make even more sense (and also ofc is just worth it in general)! I hope the day comes when you might know enough about the game and fandom to be able to watch Underverse as well, because it is an absolute masterpiece of a series that I truly adore and think you would as well, but it's built upon so much fandom knowledge you'd need to catch up on first XD
I know I'm a bit late but to clear things up about the Glitchtale version of Gaster:
Alphys, The character in the original game is the present Royal Scientist, Gaster, is the old and Forgotten Royal Scientist, Unfortunately he fell into his own creation once and ended up in the void, and permanently wiped Gaster from everyone's memories except for Sans and possibly Papyrus, ever since sans has been trying to bring him back.
The reason Sans knows Gaster is that in Glitchtale, or in the undertale fandom's headcanon: Gaster is the "Father" or the Creator of Sans and Papyrus.
After watching your reaction to the Glitchtale episode 1 remake, I went back and did a binge of the entire web series. Seeing this reaction made me so happy. The story truly does go off the rails, and I'm hoping you follow through with season 2 even though the episodes get really long. The art improves, the animation improves, the story is... something (positive).
But even just this reaction was really great. Thanks for sinking some time into the undertale abyss.
Soul Colors determine their trait and powers:

The plan behind it was to try and artificially make souls with the power to break the barrier and flowey being what they hopend would be a vessel for the human and monster souls (being that flowers are neither human nor monster) so he can break the barrier... but then he gained sentience from the dust of Asriel and the determination he was injected with... Oh my god, Glitchtale. You can't imagine the nostalgia trip I'm going through right now. I wish I could animate now. Rework my first Undertale AU Reunitale (that Glitchtale inspired) and finally introduce its characters to the world.
There are several pronunciations I've heard for Chara. car-a, care-a, chair-a, char-a. It's kind of up to preference. Also, Glitchtale season 2, especially the later parts are so much like an anime to me. There is a huge jump in quality between season 1 and season 2.

Okay so to explain gaster a bit, he is a character in the games that only appear on certain timelines, and it is a theory that he fell into the core so everybody forgot about him, except for ones with determination (like sans and flowey) He was the old royal scientist before alpyhis, he made the core, this is like 85% confirmed, also each hand that he has represents a human soul
Sans doesn't have determination in canon, he's just so intelligent that he can deduce that you're manipulating time just from your facial expression and some weird machinery. The fact that Gaster was a royal scientist before Alphys and that he fell into his creation is 100 percent canon

Chara is pronounced (Care-a) like CHARActer. A lot of names are a play on words. Like Flowey as well. Say Flower, but replace the r with the y.

For clarification, there's very little we know about Gaster, canonically, so all the Gaster-related lore in this series is entirely fan-made.
20:11 The helpless creature is known as an Amalgamate, a congelation of Souls and pure willpower (extracted Determination from humab souls) Aside from Asriel or Omega Flowey, that's the closes you get to a monster with the power of 1 or 2 human souls. Literally immortal... or at least they are to a LV1 frisk...
Some of them are killable even in the pacifist route with some really elaborately planned RNG, but most just have glitched out text that says No Effect when hit...
So helpless is a bit under scaling it... But regardless your point still stands.

Some things to consider: Most of the older undertale animations didn't have a much of an in-depth understanding of the lore as we do now, there weren't that many people digging into the lore so not many people knew Chara's true purpose, that sans only has theories of the timelines and not memories, and who gaster really is... That's not gaster, that's Mystery Man, the closest thing we have to who a guess to who gaster really is...
*_But the story must go on!_*
We can just chalk that up as part of the glitches that caused the story of Glitchtale to begin... Still a good story that becomes even more epic later on.

The character you see in the second episode is gaster he's very mysterious and we know almost nothing about him other than his name and looks, however it has been brought up that he is most likely related to sans and papyrus.
Gaster is pretty the most mysterious being in the entire undertale / Deltarune fandom, and there are traces of gaster even in deltarune.
So our interpretation of the character is completely convoluted and we know nothing about him other than the fact that he was the royal scientists and he is related to the skeleton brothers because all three of their names are actually fonts.
And aside from that we know literally nothing about the man who speaks in hands (gaster has the full name of WD gaster, WD is his font, wingdings which is basically speaking in emojis.
the relationship between asriel and chara is canon and is catalyst for most of undertale happening.
The spirtiual sequal game is called Deltarune (delta rune). it is a symbol that is prevalent in both undertale and Deltarune. A mnemonic tool to remember is that the deltarune uses lots of triangles, like the greek letter delta(∆).

Gaster is a bit of a mystery to everyone, as Toby left them with so little context, so a lot of their abilities are fan made by camila. There was no fight, either. The way you could ‘encounter’ them, was if a specific value, nicknamed ‘fun’, was set to 66.
Timeline alterations can cause havoc to the timeline, it all being traced back to Sans having determination he was never meant to wield. This caused a ‘branch’ in the timeline, allowing glitches like Chara and Gaster to re enter the world, hence the name ‘glitchtale’.
Now, about Charas newfound powers. Alphys was trying to extract determination from individual soul types, as DT is the most potent form of soul. This left them with individual extracts of each soul, which chara used to become more powerful, without the added ‘emotions’.

About 15 minutes before a wild magic surge from the d10,000 table started an ecological disaster in the lake by creating a Yorkshire Gold Tea geyser. Because tea geyser was apparently on the list 🤷♂️).

Ah, nostalgia, this was the first of the two Undertale AU's that I seriously got into, it was a genuinely amazing watch, and watching Camila's art style get better and better was a treat and a half, I seriously hope you watch Season 2, because, no spoilers, but the ride only gets crazier from here.

Chara is an actual CHARACTER in game and the first human to fall underground. There's kinda a debate on how to pronouce CHARA, do you either go Chara like character or Chara like Charade. Also, if you put chara as the name of the fallen child in game it will reply with "The true name".
The symbol on Asriel’s shirt is actually the symbol of monster-kind, and the royal family. As far as I know, it has no connection to the Legend of Zelda series.

As much as I love that you’re reacting to one of my favorite online series, you have to know Undertale well to understand all of season 1. Season 2 less so, but it’s still definitely really helpful.
The thing you mentioned about fluid body animation works well since Camila Cuevas, the animator, used to do stick figure fights that exibited complex movements and choreography.

Undertale Frisk was never given a specific gender, so they go by natural pronouns like they/them. But in Glitchtale this Frisk is a boy, so is Chara [if i remember correctly...] just a bit of info for ya!
Season 1 is very weak but needed. Season 2 is just freaking AWESOME!
Of course there is a character in Season 2 that created issues for other people (not from the Creator I don't blame them) but mainly because of the fans.

Red: blasters and over all high powered attacks.
Light blue: tethers.
Dark blue: flying death saws
Purple: Your average fighting game mirror match.
Yellow: mini gun bullets.
Orange: bombs.
Green: healing and barriers.

58:07 in the game, the only ones who remember timelines are frisk and flowey (chara is a bit of a dubious one as far as im aware), sans never could. what he DID have however, was being extremely observant, and the fact that while he couldnt remember timelines, he knew about the fact that both frisk and flowey can. so he pays very, very close attention to how those two behave, to see if theres anything odd about it. for example, if theyre acting like theyve done something before when, in that timeline, its the first time. by seeing that, sans knows its happened at least once before. how sans is able to do that as accurately as he does, im not sure, but thats how hes doing it.
I've seen SO MANY people watch this for the first time and you have caught so many things they didn't, like the "Chara was being kept there by determination" twist there.

There's multiple possible answers to what Gaster was doing, from replicating a weaker version of their power to using raw determination, but no, One human soul gives a monster insane power, if Gaster had the other 6, Sans wit just frisk's soul would've lost Flowey literally reshaped the world with the 6 souls in the game erasing everyone and everything besides frisk and a single save star, which he left only to mock frisk with an overriden save file.
48:06 in game asriel had an attack that spawned a giant gun that fired rapid streams of energy balls, in streams of 3 and 4x before unloading a gaster blaster sized energy beam.

Airer, the whole back story with Chara and Asriel (and its pronounced "Car-ah") is that a LONG time ago, a human fell into the underground, the first human to fall in. They're name was Chara. They were found by Prince Asriel, the son of King Azgore and Queen Toriel. They adopted Chara as their own and the 2 kids became inseparable. They were best friends and siblings. But, one day, Chara grew extremely ill with a sickness magic couldn't cure. They needed human medicine, but the monsters of the Underground are trapped by a magical barrier. The only way to get past it is with a human soul, (you know, those glowing, heart shaped things?) and the only way to break it is with 6 human souls. Soooo, Asriel took Chara's soul to get to the surface to maybe get some help to break the barrier. But, when the humans was a goat monster carrying a dead human child, they attacked and killed the soul fused Asriel and Chara. Asriel turned into a soulless husk named Flowy and Chara became a ghost.
