About the education policy, what I really don't like is the fact that our leaders very often come up with these grandiose ideas which, from the outlook, are respectable and very well-intentioned, you almost start to think why haven't these been implemented then? I mean, it was mentioned that the state of Pakistan spends around 5k per enrolled student in a Gov. School, and we should, instead give parents 5k to choose their desired schooling. However, what, from a policy implementation perspective, it lacks the understanding of the fact that 5000 given to a parent isn't a reduced expense, but an additional one. It is, fundamentally speaking, recognizing that your arm is infested and then you start to lift dumbells from the other without fixing the first one. What I am trying to say is that like many other institutions, education system is also like PIA in Pakistan, rotten, underdelivering and outdated. When you cannot close the schools to eliminate the expense they carry on you, you FIX EM! there's no other way around. Also, who sets the standards in the private institutions? And, in urban settings, private schools may thus be very focused on academics, but the fundamentally produce rote-learners without any outside of the class experience. I mean, I have one school in my block...its literally a flat with no playground, no nothing! When you have such an elaborate infrastructure, an incredibly potent and educated youth (at least for teaching services). FIX IT PLEASE! FIX IT! don't simply privatize it in a manner that you let the market destroy the schooling.

Every Pakistani says that till the 90,s Pakistan was ahead of India. Nobody talks about the IMF loans, aid, grants and the free money and arms and ammunitions received from USA and NATO during the Afghan wars which was not required to be paid back. Obviously under such circumstances Pakistan was bound to be ahead. Pakistan has been in about 24 IMF programs in 66 years averaging a loan every 3 years (starting from 1958) to date while India has been in an IMF loan program only once in 1991. Now all that free money, aid and grants have dried up, so Pakistan is where it should actually be. Honestly I will not be surprised if all the Pakistani policy makers are praying for another war in the neighbourhood and American intervention is there for all that free aid and grants to start flowing in again. Unfortunately for Pakistan the so called Iron brother China does not give give aid or grants and will take back every penny it lends either in cash or kind so the western intervention in the neighbourhood is the only hope for Pakistan as things stand today.

Everyone has been hearing practically every Pakistani from top to the bottom talking about the game changer CPEC which is about to complete a decade and which promised abundant electricity ( which I believe is there but at a high cost), Industrial zones, highways, railway networks ports SEZ,s and what not and Gawadar was touted to be the next Dubai. Inspite of these tall promises what one can see is that Pakistan has gone more deeper into debt locally and internationally and has to ask for regular loan rollovers from so called friendly countries including China and is in front of the IMF every few years as usual. So where is the game changer? Nobody is talking about CPEC any longer.
1. Waive off all taxes, Pakistan should be a zero tax economy for next 15 years, there should be zero tax. However, this should be balanced with industrialization, let the industry come. 2. Reduce the costs including defense budget. 3. Stay deficit, its ok to stay deficit. 4. Remove certain ministries and departments, shut them off. 5. Put ban on import of all luxury items. 6. Do not export those raw items which are related to import of similar expensive products. 7. Buy-back key assets and projects. These are simple actions. After doing this, in next 3-5 years, Pakistan will be able to support Afghanistan.

PE expansion doesn't mean that top line growth, bottom line is if common man doesn't have the purchasing power then forget about economic growth, its a classical environment of stagflation. Pakistan has some serious inherent social issues one of it military intervention. Based on these basic facts you can do the projection of next 75 years.

The only qualified Economist who should be used as Finance Minister all others used in the past mostly are CA and only know how to fix the books.
