Dr. Kaiser Bengali is an economist with over 40 years of experience in teaching, research, and policy advice in Pakistan and internationally. Holding a master’s from Boston University and a Ph.D. from the University of Karachi, he has served at institutions like the Sustainable Development Policy Institute and as Managing Director of the Social Policy & Development Centre. I live in Solapur, Maharashtra State, India, we pay highest taxes in India or you can say even in the world. Highest of 64% House Tax in Solapur or even in Maharashtra. Upto 400% tax on liquor. Maharashtra state GST collection is more than Pakistan's budget. Bruhan Mumbai Municipal Corporation Corpus Fund is more than Pakistan's Foreign Exchange Balance i.e. USD 10 B.

What a lame duck expert they have, biggest Pakistani problem is such experts. He says Software exports can not be basis of any economy lol just see India’s software services exports, and mind it there is a diff between software services & software.
In fact software export dollar gave India hedge against oil dollars that go out. Infosys & TCS has more impact than it meets eye & strategically more imp than reliance & I am not even economist. Also he defends nationalisation which is more funny. It’s a short term solution for developing nation & not good. UK can afforded NHS at per capita GDP of £38k for India with per capita GDP of $2500 it needs HDFC & ICICI bank to be bigger than say SBI.

Your argument is lame here, Software cannot be mainstay of economy like India. Hedge against oil dollars don’t help the poorest of the poor. 250 billion dollars of Software exports have helped only the top 10% of the country and I’m stretching it. If software exports were so great our per capita income wouldn’t be so low 1/6th of China. Mass employment can only be provided by industrial exports which will spur the economy as a whole. Most economists even India agree with this gentleman in this regard, he’s right.

Of course, government must also invest in social sectors, it is very much the right balance, where ppl get the education and health and other social services but there must be environment for businesses to establish and grow. You know India didn't grow in business in last 20 years alone and still there is long way to go for social sector to grow 😊🙏

A major waste of oil is tankers ONLY in Karachi. Water is available all the time through tankers but not through pipelines. Why is that?
Thes answer is water is stolen and then sold to the residents of Karachi. Tankers should be BANNED. This would not only save countless barrels of oil but also provide relief to hard earning people.
