- In today's episode, I would like to return to my 'Story of an Icon' series with a heavily demanded history of the Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar Chronograph - the watch which made Patek what it is today. This story begins in 1941 with the 1518 and runs through to the present day.

The 5270P is my holy grail. I've been waiting for over two years for this watch.
Great video, I love the historical aspect rather than a straight product review, very interesting history and very well presented.
Superb historical overview! Great way to start the new year!
Welp, the bell notification worked this time. At a quarter to 2am PST. All worth it though. The Grand Classique is certainly a grail watch, thanks for reminding me. Lovely PCC though, can't go wrong with a moon phase.
That’s the way to start the New Year!
Excellent review. i would you to talk about the simple chronographs like the 5070 and 5170. Thanks
Thanks you a great explanation of the evolution of this iconic Patek piece, for me the most beautiful complicated Patek..., just wanted to point out that regarding the 5270 that one could say there have 3 series also with different dial layouts, first series without the big tachymetre, second series with the so called" Jay Leno chin" and the actual third series. Also the 5204 has a first variant in platinum with the silver dial which has been discontinued... these minor changes will make the 5270 a really collectable piece in the future...
Another fantastic review of a classic series. Well done Armand. Happy NewYear.
I would love to see more Icon videos. This was a great start to 2019.
I respect everything Patek has done but they just don't give me the watch fizz.
Great video, well prepared and presented. How can someone own any of these stratospheric watches? Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Armand, for a review that is as excellent as ever.
For me, I feel almost abashed to say that I don't find these watches very appealing. While I recognise their technical excellence, I find the expressions "ostentatious", "over elaborate", even "vulgar" come to mind. I have Timex watches that are somehow "cleaner" looking, and with which one can certainly more easily tell the time.
Roy Gardiner for me I find them very tasteful. Try one out at the shop you’ll be surprised at how they wear. They’re a classic design. If you want a very clean look try the Calatrava
Mines the 3970 with the snap on case back in white gold. Had it for 5 years it was in very good condition. Unfortunately I’ve scratched it up a lot. Thinking about getting it slightly repolished but I’m worried about the degree of polishing Patek will do to it. Anyone had any experience with getting theirs repolished? I’d appreciate any feedback thanks
You do your homework. Great history lesson. Unrelated question: My AD offers me the ORIS Big Crown Pointer Date 80th Anniversary Edition Bronze for 200 less than list prize. Should i pull the trigger (ofc you know that i need a bronze one :) ) Have fun times.
Bronze oxidises like mad. Hope u know that before u buy!!
5004 is the grail
I think Watchfinder & Co just did a little pooh on this most current video.
Technical excellence. Terrible design.
No it’s a classic design. Try one out at the shop they wear really well. At least I think they do
