The midi files could maybe loaded into song mode ... Setlist can host programs, combis, and also songs from the sequencer. So if you are already familiar with how setlist mode works and know how to load a midi file into your Kronos sequencer, it should be pretty easy from there. Hey Julius, nice video, i'm trying to use drum loops in Combi mode, just to give me a drum track to work with on the Kronos, how do you set up the speed of the drum track in combi mode, im not able to change the speed of the drum loops when in that mode as the drum loops all have the same speed depending on the speed set in the combi mode on the RHS- In Combi mode there is a tab which says Drum tack, i set up the trigger aspects etc and speed but when i put that into the combi, it keeps that same speed for the next drum loop, any ideas. can you do a video on how to use drum loops in combi please man, awesome videos
@@JuliusDeBerryJr Sure, i want to use the preset drumloops in Combi just to gimme a beat. I go to the drum tab in combi, set all up select the drum loop either user or preset and set the speed and trigger and midi channel. Then go to Combi play mode, assign channel ten to drums and the loop plays, but the loop is controlled by the speed set up in combi RHS, once thats done, if i do another loop the same way to a different combi, the same speed from the previous combi is always there, i cannot change it.
@@JuliusDeBerryJr No they dont, thats whats really weird, all the tempos are the same= Ive disconnected all external sources even the pedal- Global settings to Midi internal clock, i dont know what else to do
Great question. I'll have to check on that. I went back and watched the video but I never saw a parameter for that... I'm not sure if it automatically looped mine track or if it was just playing the first measure. Seems like it would play the entire pattern. Would it be a problem to make one bar loops if you had to ? For the use of this feature?
This might be a little out there, but it's been eating at since I bought my Kronos years ago. Is there a way to automate in a such a way, that while you are in Combi mode, having the drum track playing, can it be made that a drum track can be made to go a certain amount of bars/repeats, then, automatically change to another track in the Combi? This way, you don't to manually select another Karma scene to get to another one, to accompany the piece you're playing at the time! I play straight through with my songs, so in parts of a song in each Combi that I'll use for a song, just like with a real band, the drums don't always play the same thing over and over through the whole song!
Some of the best inventions happen from thinking out of the box... Ok so instead of using combi mode, why not use song mode? Combi mode and Song mode are very similar ... The main difference is that song mode has the ability to record and sequence. So could you just place the drums tracks in the sequencer and have them play a set number of times before switching to the next one that you could also pre determine? Would that work? If so, and you need more details, we can try and work through it.
@@JuliusDeBerryJr To tell you the truth, it's been a long while since I actually used Song/sequencer mode. That was early on and I was messing it, experimenting with recording tracks separately to create a complete song. But upon learning what I can do with this best soon after, that I can play entire, full sounding songs, right within a Combi. Not recording, just playing from the beginning to the end of a song. So that's where the idea came in about the drums. It's really particular for me, if I wanted to do more complex rock piece, perhaps along the lines of RUSH or something. Songs like theirs, may have several changes within. So upon the last part of what you are describing, would I predetermine a sequence of drum tracks in a song that I would play, measuring out how many bars that the first one would play for, till it changes to the next, while I'm performing the main pieces, as well as the Karma for the rest of the rhythm, so everything falls into place at the right time? Oh, If I lose you here, sorry. I don't always have the right, cut to the chase descriptions for points I'm trying to make. Someone else probably could have summed this up with just a few sentences. lol
You can either add additional rhythms via Karma or use real time pattern play/record (RPPR) in sequence mode. This assigns midi sequences to be triggered by keys in the lower half of the keyboard. You can copy drums tracks to these patterns and play song in sequencer mode like a combi.
Yeah you can do it by the drum track unless you have to combis side by side in the set list mode and maybe just alternate between them. But that may be hard to keep in sync for tempo.
Hi I’m thinking about getting a Kronos 61 key . I’m looking to make edm music . I just wanna know is it possible to create your own patter on the screen ? Or do you have to copy a track that’s already been made . Or one you recorded . And can you create three separate track patterns on top of the original one / layer it I think is what it’s called . Then mute or whatever it’s called the one drum track then go into let’s say like the build then drop type beats . Can you do all that on the Kronos ? Also if I were to get the Korg nano pad 2 would I be able to use that for a beat sequence separately ( like the Roland fantom 6-8 ) and then play synths and record that on top of the beat sequence that you press to make the edm ?
Hi Jeffrey! Yes you can make patterns. But what do you mean "on the screen". You can create patterns and stack the patterns on top of each other (either on the same track (with the same sound) or a different (with a different sound)). You can connect a USB device with pads on it and control the Kronos. But not sure if you know this, but the Kronos has on screen pads..... Hit me up if you need some Kronos one on one tutorials. Seems like you have some very in-depth ideas.
