Hey thank's a lot, I have a 65 buick skylark and since they have so much in common with chevelle I really wanted replace the heater core because it had a leak when it was connected to the water and I followed your recommendation on the video and you are "correct" doesn't really need to remove the outside plate, it only took me about an hour to remove it from the car and that it was because the hidden 5th nut. So I really appreciate your video "thank you again"

Replacing the heater core on my 65 Pontiac Catalina. I completely agree with not necessary to remove the engine compartment cover. It’s necessary to remove the 5 nuts that sandwich the interior cover through the firewall with the engine compartment cover. Also agree that the inner wheel well needs to be moved to gain access to the fifth nut, but I have my inner wheel well completely unbolted and cannot seem to get it to drop out like I see yours in the video. What’s the secret?

Somebody had already removed that box previously and left that fifth screw out. Thank Goodness. It is located behind the inner fender well. It is a big pain in the ass to get because normally the speed nuts that secure the fender well on snap off and they just spin. Now you have to cut them off. You can't get to it with the fender well in the car.

I removed the fender when I replaced the fan motor ya pain in the ass. The heater works really good . Worth the hassle mainly because I got the defroster for frosty mornings.

so you can remove the heater core from the inside ? Without taking anything off under the hood ?

      Just seen the comment
You don't need to remove the outer cover. You will most likely need to remove
the passenger side fender liner/wheel well due to fastener on the
      Lower right side of the
Outer cover , don't remove the outer cover unless you want to clean it and replace the gasket...

When you took it apart the first time, when you removed the outer box did you have to remove the right side hood hinge

The hood henges do not need to be removed , right side fender liner will need to be removed . The glove box tray doesn't need to be removed but it will be easier if you remove it so you see what's what. Good luck with your project

Soo you don't need to take the box-off?

Ya, the outer box is better left as is . Don't remove it. You may need to remove the fender liner to access the hidden bolt lower right-hand corner.
