That area you flattened out today would be a great place to put in a sand beach. Kids swimming. Oh my, put cut banks for a bout 7/8 of the pond, and a sand beach stocked with blue gill or sun perch. Kids and grandkids will love that. Awesome place for family reunions too.

It's a pretty spot - like the idea of leaving the buffer and extending the pond. And yes you will find lots to do - it is a farm where time and brush wait for no man.

Good things come to those who wait. Working on your property as time and equipment allows you will work just fine. Once it's done you'll be happy with the results. Impressed with your homestead and now it's expansion. You have the vision and will see it through to the end. Can't wait to see your future livestock roaming the new land!

Chris. After you get your fences installed, you need some goats. They eat what cows won't, and they'll keep the area bush hogged so you won't have to waste much of anything on that front. Just a thought.

I can’t decide if I’m a fan of the mulcher or not. It seems like it’s a compromise attachment, it does the job, but leaves a big mess. I would think you would still need to run a root rake to get all those little stumps out. I like that you can hit all the hard to get to spots, banks, creek sides, around trees. Maybe I like it more for brush removal and not so much for saplings and small trees.

@@rwarren4757 you have to remember that the Yanmar excavator is only 40 Hp. You’re not running high flow with 40 hp. We have a 90 hp case skid steer with Hi Flow Brush mower you can feel on the skid steer trying to maintain 40 GPM... it takes all of 90 HP.

That thing is like 10k beavers on steroids!!! Going to get me one for my birthday! We have 58k acres here in Alaska (homesteaded in 1927 by my father and 4 of my older brothers). I was the youngest of 8 boys and the last remaining here in the States. Allot of forest, a sizable deep water lake (landlocked) under ground spring fed from the Chugiak mountains. The shoreline needs trimming every spring so this thing would do some short work for sure! Rough mulching would feed the beaver and keep them from killing our trees!

Pond looks nice, really opened it up. I’ve noticed a couple of new, to me anyway, techniques your using when mulching smaller standing trees ( the sweeping motion with the back of the cutter head then swing forward and down to cut the trees off) and they seem to be pretty effective from what I can tell. Thanks for the ride along.

Now with sunlight going to it you maybe surprised what comes up.
I know you will get rid of the earth mounds, but leaving trees gives it a more private feeling, instead of taking down all the trees and having it all open
Nice little jetty sticking out and you can come down a fish and relax..your own oasis of calm.

Nice little afternoon video to watch Chris.
