Every kimber ive bought i really like. Never had any failures or parts breaking and ill continue to buy as long as they stay that way. This 1911 is a beauty 😍
@@sootch00 Have watched hundreds of your videos. All are excellent. This one is particularly good. Can tell you are at the top of your game. Best gun reviewer on YT alongside HS.
Edit: just when all is terrible in the world, Sootch00 brings out another gun review and I’m feeling good again. Noticed they used 70 series safety in this one.
Not sure how I missed this when you first released it. 3 months later you've still got the only video I can find. Just purchased it based on your recommendation. This thing is beautiful.
Nice pistol.Price a touch higher than I anticipated. Own 3 kimbers, shadow ghost is 45,two tone 45,eclipse custom 10 m.ZERO issues and that Includes the Mags! Thanks for a general walk thru.
I bought a new Kimber Commander size 1911 in 1993, and it didn't work worth a darn. I called Kimber and they said I was limp-wristing the Kimber (they blamed me). I've owned and shot 1911s since 1968 without an issue, so this was news to me. I traded the Kimber for a Les Baer Commanche which runs perfectly and I still own. I've heard the Commander size Kimbers had problems (mine certainly did). That was 30+ years ago so maybe things have changed. I did buy two Kimber K6s, a 3" and a 2" barrel models, which are great revolvers and I still own.
2000 I bought a custom Royal.45 acp. Blued model. Put a regular spring plug in. Never had a problem with it. Accurate right out of box. I use Wilson combat mags in it. 🦅🇺🇸
No batch of bad years. If there is a 1 % error rate in new guns and one manufacture makes 2 million and another makes 20K there will be as many errors by the company selling 2 million as the other company produces.
I got a Kimber Custom years ago and did not like how it felt at all and haven't been a fan since. Don't know if it was a one-off issue, but you know how it goes - first impressions. That said, I do admit this is a handsome pistol.
Great review! Kimber really nailed it , I really love the finish and the grips on it however I’d always go with a Springfield 1911. To me Springfield you get better quality and reliability for the same or less than Kimber prices
I have a Raptor and love it so I really like the looks of this gun. But releasing it for the 45th anniversary I just don't understand. Wouldn't the 50th anniversary be more of a milestone?
While the one shown here didn't follow the actual 45th edition serial number, the released ones have a serial number of the form 45AEXXXX. While most listings on GunBroker are around $1800, there are a few available sub $1500. I can't wait to get mine in. A beautiful piece. Thanks for doing this video. I did not know about these prior to stumbling on this video.
Also, from the pictures on GB, they are stamped manufactured in their Troy Alabama facility. Most manufacturers focus on either form or function. Kimber provides a Form and Function choice for those of us who pay attention to such things :)
Love you bro but it's a Kimber. Collectible? It's a Kimber. $1600 to $1800? It's a Kimber. An assembly line gun with a special finish and special grips. In 20 years, only Kimber fan boys will be wanting it.
I have a suggestion for you: a new handgun, Kral Arms Kr9, a clone of Kimber Micro 9, please test it and make a review video, I'm curious about your comments and opinions.
Been a fan of you for a while and finally bought a Kimber. Think you could do a good review of the Kimber CDP Pro 2 please? Not many good reviews on them.
Any fitment that bushing had to the barrel, you destroy by disassembling it that way. The barrel needs to be out of battery before the bushing is removed.
I've not shot one, so I can't vouch for them, but Rock Island is generally well-regarded "for the price", and they make a double-stack (14 round) "2011"-looking 45. The TAC Ultra FS HC 45ACP. That's a long name. The model number is 51567.
@@Thomas-vt7cz Ask and ye shall receive. I just watched his latest video about Kimber releasing a double-stack 1911 chambered in 45, and was reminded of this conversation. Kimber 2K11. It's not on their website yet, but it seems like today was the lift on the embargo. Videos and articles abound.
I bought a Kimber Rapide Scorpius for 1800 US dollars. First, their customer service is exceptional. They pay the shipping both ways including 2nd day air for the return. The actual repair time was 3 working days. Having said that, why can't Kimber get it right the first time. On my gun, the right side thumb safety lever was crooked and was scratching the slide. The slide to frame fit was awful. That's why it had to be sent back. The repair was well done. Kimber makes beautiful and unique handguns. Sadly, it appears that quality control is still in issue for them. The gun I purchased should never have left the factory. These are production guns. With my gun as an example, it is obvious that there is little done in the way of hand fitting and inspection. These types of defects are unacceptable on a 500.00 gun.
I too had some hiccups with the Rapide Scorpius initially, however, after a 250-300rd break-in. It's run flawlessly ever since. It certainly grew on me.
@@nickreyes6323 Hi Nick: I Have 1000 rounds through mine with no malfunctions. I enjoy the gun. I just wish that Kimber's quality control was better, especially at that price.
Its so refreshing to see this in 45acp. These 9mm, 1911 copies are overrated and blasphemous. I know 9mm is cheaper to shoot but its also a poor choice for self defense purposes.
That's the best they can do for their 45th anniversary? The Rapide is their most attractive 1911 available. They should've modeled that and customized it a bit.
The Rapide is aesthetically overwrought. It's not a bad looking gun, but it's very "tacticool" and busy. It's trying really hard to not look like a 1911, and it's doing a good job. To me, this has a more classic look that feels more fitting for an anniversary edition. Not that it matters what I think, since there is no way I'm paying that much for one.
@@chrissmalley83 Rapide is a customized 1911. Just like the nighthawk, Dan Wesson and the infinity. There's no questioning what it is. Trying to not look like a 1911? Well, it's doing a shitty ass job, cause we can spot that sweet mofo a mile away! The argument was Kimber should've designed something more attractive to celebrate their milestone (same age as Wilson Combat btw). This one is a tad boring.
Just depends what you're into. I imagine this gun is for the guys who drive a 97 silverado and who's favorite movie is Braveheart, while I imagine the rapide is for guys who jack up the front of their car and leave the price tags on their hats.
I had 1 Kimber, a CDP 2 1911 .45acp. Within 500 rounds, the thumb safety sheared off at the lever, same thing with the slide stop. I couldn’t carry this gun for duty, got rid of it. I wouldn’t take a Kimber if you gave it to me. Kimber are full of junk, MIM parts. Kimber does a lot of fancy machining on the exterior, but, to me, it’s like a silk hat on a pig.
Nice pistol, i know that is not the right place, but i have a message for all the people who watches this channel, in November vote for Trump, not only to save the USA, but to save the entire free world. Cheers from Brazil.
I’m normally not a Kimber man, but this 1911 is truly beautiful
Im of the opposite opinion. I think the slide serration changes here look weird. Finish and bronze dont match up to me either.
This is, practically, an Art Deco 1911. It's beautiful!
