    Stilgar is holding a worm segment spreading tool - looks like a shovel but isn’t - helps them ride sand worms

    I had Feyd and Rabban when I was a kid , I picked them up right after my uncle took me to see DUNE in theaters in 1984 , he lied to me and said DUNE was like Star Wars , it was nothing like Star Wars , everyone was either whispering or yelling in the movie.. I was captivated , the characters , the costumes , the music , it was something a bit deeper then Star Wars was , it was better, it still is better.. over the years 1984 DUNE has become legendary for many different reasons.. in the 90's I picked up a complete loose and packaged set of these LJN figures for pennies , I have had them in my collections for almost 30 years now.. glad to see there is interest in them all these years later...

    The device in Paul's neck is a microphone linked to a Sonic gun in his left arm. The whole set is called a Weirding Module and uses his voice as a weapon. This was created by Lynch for the film. It does not appear in the books.

    The thing on his neck is possibly a “weirding module”

    I absolutely adore both the OG Dune movie and the new one. I entirely skipped these figures back in the day but did grab a few of the Super 7 ReAction versions. Surprising that any toy company in the 80's thought this dark, serious and violent movie had kids toy line potential but alas, I'm glad they did or we wouldn't have these beauties.

    It's not a moisture evaporator around his neck it's a sound modulator to use his vocal sounds as a weapon

    Very good job and a very good collection you have. What a weird obscure toy line ljn had for this movie that's not really geared for kids but that's probably why it's so hard to collect these.

    Dagger fights? Shovel? Sometimes the lack of knowledge around the lore/media of the toys you collect is shockingly funny. I dont mind (maybe I'm wrong) but you catch me off guard on just about everyone of your videos lol. Keep up the content.

      The shovel thing is a worm tool (forgot what it's called) that the fremen use to hook into the warm segments and turn them to ride the worms. I'm actually surprised a thumper wasn't included with any of the figures LJN or McFarland... I bet Jessica would have come with it, the water of life jar and a dagger.

    I have no idea what Dune was all about when gramps rented the Betamax video back then, probably because I was a kid who only enjoyed the visuals and the gigantic sandworms. I didn't even know there were toys released

    Thank you for the indepth review on these... I love them a lot because they are so representative of their time, but still don't understand their scale... they just don't go with anything else that I collect. Not having seen all the accessories made this video top notch! Thanks again!

    • @ia5662
      @ia5662 Рік тому

      They SHOULDN'T go with anything else you collect - they are their own toy line. That's the beauty of actual toy lines in the 80s and 90s, none of this "we must adhere to 6 inches" BS that we get today. Toy lines should look homogenous to themselves, not to other lines - THAT is how you stand out. LJN got that right...

    • @milkywayskywalker
      @milkywayskywalker Рік тому

      @@ia5662 You mean like when LJN took over the Indiana Jones line and change the entire scale for the second movie? Killed the line. 🤷🏽‍♂️ Don't get me wrong, they are great figures! With regard to 6" figures... I don't own a single one... all my late 70s, early 80s figures are 3.75". Dune came out in 1984, and could have gone either way, but again their own choice to create their own scale killed the line, and that's just a fact. 🤷🏽‍♂️
