Hamilcar Barca | Father of Hannibal and Enemy of Rome | Carthaginian History

- I guess this can be counted as the spiritual successor to the fifth episode of my First Punic War series.
Addendum - At one point in the video, I say that Hamilcar's and Hannibal's last name was Barca: this is incorrect. 'Barca' was an epithet, meaning 'the lighting bolt'; it was not a family name. They are only referred to collectively as the Barcids due to historiographical convention.

This channel is a hidden gem. The perfect combination between factual history, excellent narration and memes.
A great soldier and a wonderful glider.
This is a great and detailed story of the 1st Punic war. Thank You!
Seriously under rated channel
Great video man. Love the style and topic. Keep it up!!!!
Keep making them please.
I plan to!
Great video as always!
Hannibal’s story was truly that of the underdog. Deep in enemy territory, defeating them time and time again but all it takes is one defeat and that’s it. Cant help but admire him
Fantastic. I was thinking about making a Punic-Iberia mod for Civ VI and this video is giving me plenty of ideas.
Great video again. Loved how you handled this topic!
Would like to see a video on other great men, like Philip the second (and others), as well!
I'm glad you like it! I was unsure as to whether this video would do well, so it's nice to see such a positive response.
I think I will start making more videos based around one important historical figure from here on out.
@@Serapeum Great idea good sir! The algorithm will pick you up some day, matter of time!
I'm glad I chose to click on this I found it very interesting as I know little to nothing about the Punic Wars
Idiot UA-cam took months to recommend this awesome channel when most of my subscriptions are for ancient Roman history?
Sorry I'm late, boss.😖
Interesting, I liked it!
Very well done
You should also make a video(or a couple or videos)for Hannibal and the second Punic war too
Hamelcar....great dad.
I heard his father was away at war when he was conceived. His mother claims that she saw a ray of light.
7:33 🤣Crassus Style
take our encouragement!

Lore of Hamilcar Barca Momentum 100
How much does a Hamilcar weigh? About 2 Hamiltons.
👍🏽
I wonder what the world would be today if Carthage defeated Rome? Think of all the Latin based Languages that probably wouldnt exist today? It's amazing to think how one conflict can shape civilization.
Why did you repeat yourself at 4:05
probably an editing error
Who is neural of syria
Nur ad-Din of Syria

I like this channel. I've also named my weiner Serapeum, in homage. It's just the classy thing to do.
You can't enjoy Greek or Roman history and not have sense of humor, a ridiculous one
Well... I'm honoured
This bust/image and likeness of Hannibal is a fake that was made in the 16th century by an Italian and is not Hannibal. It is a partial likeness of Roman Emperor Hadrian. This so called Hannibal is dressed in a Roman cloak/cape called the "paludamentum" that was worn by only Roman generals and Emperors. Hannibal hated the Romans and would have never not dressed as a Roman General / emperor. Plus the Helmet is not Carthaginian either…. Tell a lie often enough, it becomes the truth!
Interesting
Hamilcar Barca IS an ISRAELITE! Blessings and Hugs 💖💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕!
This IS a FAKE 🤥 WHITEWASHED Image of Hamilcar Barca¡
Hannibal and his father were Moors! Your his-story is white washed ☝🏾
It takes originality to be a successful troll, friend.
