This is so amazing! My grandma knit and crocheted and I have a lot of her stuff because my mom never learned. She was in the middle of making a baby sweater for me when she got sick and never finished it. 34 years later, I plan on finishing it when I get pregnant. It almost feels like it was meant to be us finishing a project "together."
I was watching this thinking how it's a beautiful big hug from your Oma and how I'm sure she would love that you did this. My grannie died last year and I would have loved to be able to do something like this so instead I'm going to be cutting her clothes and making a memory blanket
When I started crocheting last year, I felt a weird connection to my great grandmas. I never met them so it felt like I met them through this shared craft. I get a similar warmth from this project. 😊
The color scheme is very "80's preppy mom." Well done! My granny left me a bunch of yarn, and I love the pieces I made with that yarn. It's a great way to stay connected to her memory.
Its so lovely to be able to put your Oma's squares to good use. It loks beautiful. Every time you wear it youll be reminded of her and it will feel extra cozy and comforting.
I inherited all of my Oma’s crochet hooks and knitting needles. I treasure them! My background is Dutch and we say Oma and Opa too. I believe that they also do in Sweden.
I love this so much. Being able to Incorporate your Oma's work into your own, is just priceless. I was very close to my grandmother, and I miss her so much to this day. I treasure everything I have that was hers. The colors look really pretty on you as well. Happy Fall!!! ❤
Add some really cool buttons. They'll bring an extra vibe to the project. Don't forget to sew in the ends. It's a really cool project, I guess your granny ( Oma) was planning to crochet a blanket.
This is such a beautiful way to have your Oma with you for years to come, so special that you made this together 💙 I also just picked up that Sapphire color of impeccable for a winter sweater, it’s so pretty!
Oh but it's so cute Michelle, and your Oma would have been so happy and proud of what you've done with her square-tangles 😉☺. That cardigan makes me think of winter ❄, once again you did a wonderful job putting this cardigan together 💙🤍
When I’m trying to figure out if I have enough yarn to make additional of something I already made - like squares for a patchwork - I’ll weigh the already made piece using a cheap kitchen scale and then weigh the yarn I have available. If the yarn weighs more it will probably work (depending on gauge obviously). It gives me a really good basis for whether something has a chance of having enough yarn.
This came out amazing!!! I wish I had some of my grandma's unfinished work to incorporate into my own. I know it was a labor of love but really amazing to have her quite literally stitched into the final piece. I'm sure she would be so proud! 💗
When you started talking about the arms being wrong, in my head I was like "nooooooo Michelle, don't do it to yourself" cause I have to undo stuff all the time and it can be very upsetting ha. But if you gotta change it, you gotta change it. Otherwise you won't wear it. As we have learned, many times.
You did amazing! It inspires me to try to do this. I started learning how to crochet because I really wanted a patchwork cardigan that was $200 😅 that was almost 2 years ago and I still haven’t tried it!
ME TOO!!! I'm rewatching Stranger Things... But I'm going backwards. Just finished Season 4, now watching Season 3 😝😝 Well done on making Oma sweater... Love it!! She would've been sooo proud ❤
First of all…I LOVE that you are doing this. Secondly, if you weight the square on a kitchen scale you’ll see approximately how many grams of yarn it takes. Then you can weight your scraps to see if there’s enough for a square. I use my scale all the time to see if I have enough yarn for another row of an Afghan, for instance.
quick tip to line up patchwork colors: solved sudoku!! I'm currently using it for a massive blanket and it's easier to think when I can see the possibilities laid out in front of me :)
This is beautiful! Great job! I love that you reused your Omas Squares. This makes me so sentimental.😍 Does your family have a German background or why do you call your granny Oma?🥰
@@michelle_jasek That's nice! I am from Germany but I have some distant relatives in the US. I guess they moved at the same time your Oma moved to the US. Thanks for the reply!🥰
this is beautiful!! your oma would be proud❤also im from the netherlands, and oma is also our word for grandma, i didn’t know it was also german and thought you were part dutch when i read the title! 😂
The cardigan looks so cozy and I'm a big fan the winter-ish colours! BTW have you purchased any accessories for the paper shoot camera? I would love to see an update on what you think about it :) Love your vids

"Hot Rod" is magnificent.

I really like this color scheme on you for a change of pace! I can’t get over how good the colors look together.

Hey do you have some more info about the silver sudoku method you use? Really intrigued on this!
Think of it as a hug from Oma 😉
Love this!!!❤❤❤🧶
Thank you 😊
It’s gorgeous! Love it!

Stranger things season 1 is the best!!! It is also my favorite!
I love your projects, but you talk so fast and go back and forth on ideas constantly that it causes me extreme anxiety! Lol!
