- In 2011, Entertainment Weekly reunited the film's stars, Michael Douglas and Glenn Close, where Douglas recounted seeing Close audition for her now iconic role in the film: “She came in, in character, and knocked our socks off,” he says. Added Close: “I was so nervous, I took a little bit of Valium. I walked in and the first thing I saw was a video camera, which is terrifying. And behind the video camera in the corner was Michael Douglas. I just said ‘Well, just let it all go wild.'”
Ahead of the film’s 35th anniversary, watch the 2017 PeopleTV reunion to hear Douglas and Close open up about their experiences working on the film, the divergent original ending, that infamous bunny scene and more!

'Fatal Attraction' Reunion ft. Michael Douglas and Glenn Close (2017) | PEOPLE

It was criminal how Glenn didn't get that Oscar. Great actress !!
I believed back then, and still believe to this day, that the Academy was manipulated into giving Cher the Oscar because she was dissed before for "Mask", along with the fact that now she was playing by the secret Hollywood "rules": ie: she sold out to them for Fame, so this was her "reward" for signing her soul away.
So yes, I agree, it should have been Glenn...
I wish it was a double win with Cher and Glenn Close.
@@homegown1234I like this idea a lot.
Glenn's performance is absolutely brilliant. It's ridiculous that she didn't win the Oscar!
I agree 100%
It clearly wasn't fair that nobody from the movie won anything, but based on how society is now, I have a feeling it's because the Academy didn't want to touch the subject. There were probably snowflakes that felt that awarding performances in a movie such as this would condone having an affair and completely losing your shit afterwards - and killing pets....

Yessss, Cher's Oscar is only marketing... She is a product of marketing...
I remember seeing couples walking into the movie theatre laughing joking and walking out, quiet and holding hands.
lmao
🤣🤣🤣
All I remember was all the women dressed like her on Oscar night.
🤣🤣
😆😆
Glenn Close deserved the Oscar.
Moonstruck really doesn’t compare well to Fatal Attraction. I found Moonstruck boring
If it was today, she would have won
Yesssss
Absolutely!
Never. Terrible film.
Glenn deserved the Oscar. She was fabulous.
So was Cher
Nothing like the 1980s. Such a fabulous time in movies and fashion.
And music 🎶
Especially in NYC
Yes!
I miss my big rick star hair !!
@@stephaniemccord6100 I still crimp mine high lol
I'm NOT gonna be IGNORED, Dan!
The scene where Michael Douglas goes to Glenn’s apartment and they start physically fighting is one of the best “fight” scenes of all time.
The chemistry between these two was electric. Just a fantastic film.
Extramarital affairs definitely took a dip after this film came out.
Glenn's performance was incredible. She made Alex human. Underneath all that psychotic behavior was a terrible sadness. Alex was a very sick, sad woman who desperately needed mental help. Glenn brought that out perfectly.
I didn't think Glenn close could be that hot! Ann Archer was hot also!
@@gregdayton786 she had to fight for the role because the producers didn't think that she could pull off sexy.
@@sarcasticallyrearranged she was amazing in this role in every way. Very sexy and seductive. And then when she goes crazy, she's terrifying. It's like a complete opposite of the woman we met in the beginning. Still wish she'd won the Oscar that year.
@@gregdayton786 🔥🔥👙🔥🔥

Michael is blessed with good hair.
Robert Redford is blessed too.
Genetically blessed with good looks. He was a very handsome guy.
Yep!
36 years later it still remains a classic.

I love it. Seen it several times.
this led to her role in Dangerous Liasons, in which she was equally brilliant.
I wished Glenn Close had gotten an Oscar for this movie which Glenn was really up her game in acting. She was fabulous.
@@homegown1234 Can you believe she still has never won??
For me, she has been robbed of an Oscar for this film and may others... She was scintillating in Dangerous Liaisons... I really thought she will win for Reversal of Fortune... She truly becomes the character she is playing...@@bobthebear1246
I've had the privilege of meeting Michael Douglas several times at a restaurant he used to go to. he is such a nice guy in person. very friendly and warm despite being so famous.
Legends right here. They have age beautifully.
Agreed. Everyone goes for the sex doll look now. I like human looking humans.

Their friendship is so warm and genuine!
After all these years it still scares me what a great movie
Its hard to watch. 😬
After all these years I still haven't seen it. Not even a clip or trailer

Glenn was robbed of the Oscar! She gave an amazing performance. 👏 ❤ And Adrian Lyne is a great director. His movies have such a look to them. Great angles and very atmospheric. Whether he is trying to create tension or sexiness, he makes it all look stunning.
I just watched the SNL skit where Glenn Close played Alex. It was a funny skit, but she totally got back into character. She was so intense and scary. Such a talented actor!! An Oscar winning performance for sure

I love that in the interview they were serious and down-to-earth and not silly, trying to laugh at every sentence like celebrities nowadays. I love this movie and always have.
They literally laughed in every sentence thou 😂😂😂 girl what
They laughed and were funny and cute the whole interview. Yes they had serious moments but the laughed too. They are older not dead. They have great chemistry even now. What a pair.
@@eden20111 I know. I'm saying their laughter wasn't contrived or over the top. They were genuine.
I saw this when it was originally released in the theater. People actually cheered when Alex was shot at the end. That movie was freaking terrifying.
Glenn was just stunning.the layers she brought to the role is movie history.
It’s funny seeing them being buddies after watching the movie 😂
They've had a lot of fun with it.
He looks just like his father. Amazing
Fatal Attraction is, from a guy who didn’t even grow up in the 80s, a really superb drama, with great performances from everyone! It’s got a great script with great characters and really good dialogue, and a story that keeps you captivated from beginning to end! Absolutely a classic!
Glen deserved the Oscar she was truly scary.
Yes. But back then, the Oscar voters were very fascist and rigid. Cher in Moonstruck was a typical good girl heroine character they liked to give the Oscar to as opposed to a dark, crazy villainous bad girl. Since then, the Academy has been forced to modernize and recognize all types of great performances. Today, Glenn likely would have won.
Just like Kathy Bates in Misery, Glen’s Alex is iconic and one of the most “loves to hate “ characters that audiences have in mind 😂
@@joemeathead163 Have Glenn Close and Kathy Bates ever worked together? That would be completely awesome!
Anne Archer should have won Supporting too.
@@joanna7350 Most definately! Anne Archer was great in this movie. I've always loved her acting.
I was in college when I saw the premiere of "Fatal Attraction." Glenn Close scared the living crap out of me! This film will always remain a masterclass in psychological thrillers.
One of the scariest, greatest performances I've ever seen. How she didn't win the Oscar is still a mystery.
Oscars are kind of snooty. They don’t give them to thrillers/horror/sci-fi films or performances. They like period pieces, heavy drama, and historical films. A lot of actors have lost who should’ve won due to that. Then they are constantly playing catch up and give the actor an Oscar for a lesser performance because they deserved it for the performance they lost on, which then robs the actual best performance of the year. When Russel Crowe won for Gladiator I stopped watching or caring about them. Felicity Huffman should’ve won for TransAmerica not Reese Witherspoon for Walk The Line. Then Will Smith winning one and slapping Chris Rock, I was done.
Loved this movie. Kind of a remake of Play Misty for me.
Glen should have won the Oscar. 🎞⚘️📽🎬📺
That is another classic.
I love Play Misty!
Play Misty is one of my favorite movies. Jessica Walter was fantastic.
That hair! I'm talking to you, Michael Douglas. 😍
I wish I have Michael Douglas’s hair at half his age..
Phenomenal film. Both tremendous actors.
They both are aging gracefully♥
I forgot how incredible (and incredibly disturbing) this film is. Fantastic acting!!!
Great but very disturbing movie. Basic Instict later was like a shadow of this movie. IMHO
What a great iconic film! Still gives me chills when i watch it. Also, Glenn Close was robbed she should've won the oscar that year. Her performance was incredible🔥👑🏆
The movie that almost scared me into celibacy.
While my friend and I were watching the film in the theater, we came to the pot-on-the-stove scene and I whispered to him “Mmmm, wabbit stew!!!” - never seriously believing that the rabbit actually WAS in the pot. I was as shocked as everyone else.
The summer before, we’d met Glenn Close at Shea Stadium - she’s a big Mets fan - and she told us that she was currently filming a movie “unlike anything you’ve ever seen me do (to use her words).” Boy, did she EVER call that one!!!!
I wish they could’ve scheduled Ann Archer for this as well.
And the kid who played Ellen..
It scared the sh*t out of every guy. 😂
Just watched it again on Netflix after all these years. Fantastic movie. Perfect. Each scene had its place. A classic.
I'm dead they did the photoshoot with the rabbit 🤣🤣🤣
It's the same rabbit from the movie ;)
@@sabinasara6059 That's impossible.
@@kath.andrews Possible;)
One of my other favorite Glenn Close movies is Jagged Edge. The typewriter scene.
Absolutely love Glenn.
Compared to what crap they put out on the new "Fatal Attraction" series, re-watching this shows just how damn far good acting has gone away. Cinema has floundered in the acting department. This movie is a masterclass in how to act from many of these amazing actors, both main and supporting cast.
I totally agree the tv series is NOTHING compared to the movie, should never of been made it’s bad.
That show is stupid.
Amazing performance from Michael and Glenn 💞
Both Glenn and Anne Archer looked so beautiful in the movie and I say that as a straight woman. Awesome cinematography/script/makeup the list is endless. I remember seeing this in the movie theater and when I got up to use bathroom I noticed all these guys outside the movie theater smoking cigs and they looked stressed out haha
good hair, makeup and styling for both ladies.
I agree they were both very attractive women
I wish they made more movies like this. I love there chemistry between them.
Exceptional performances for all characters. Iconic movie
Michael Douglas and Glenn Close are Brilliant Actors I grew up on and it's good that their reunion happened. Love them both👌👌👌
Glenn and Michael should've done second movie together.
When she took the little one on the roller coaster, I melted, in my seat! 😂 crazo!
Its so odd that this movie was in my auto play list today without me selecting it. I had no complaints because i enjoyed watching this classic again.
Glenn Close should have won the Oscar that year. One of the worst steals ever.
I've never seen 'Moonstruck' with Cher so can't comment on which was more deserving, but this was certainly an epic performance from Glenn Close.
all oscars are a scam
Oh get over it 😢
I agree. I've seen Moonstruck and Glenn knocked it out of the park.
She really did deserve the Oscar. This movie plus "The Burning Bed" did a lot for keeping men on the straight and narrow for a minute. Great film.
Glenn is one of the best actresses in the world
I saw it in the theater when it was released. Wow! Glenn Close deserved the Oscar and was robbed.
One of my favorite movies.
The Term "Bunny Boiler" for men describing the nightmare date that's still plaguing them..Stemmed from this movie.
That alone deserves an Award.
wow! that's interesting! didn't know that
Let's not forget that this film 'borrowed' virtually everything from the 1971 Clint Eastwood film, 'Play Misty For Me' in which, Jessica Walter played a far more frightening and compelling nutter than Glenn Close.
@@rnw2739 Play misty for me... great movie
@@macaronblanc9522 You know now D*"khead
@@rnw2739neah. Saw that movie and it was subpar. Fatal Attraction was way better, the cinematography, the acting, the script are superior. Even the music. And, aside from the Madame Butterfly reference, the script is different. Clint didn't have a wife or a kid and there are many other differences.
Fatal Attraction was way better and Glenn played it better than Jessica Walter. Jessica's character was very unidimensional and her acting was over the top, while Glenn's character is better nuanced and layered, thanks to her wonderful acting abilities. And it doesn't make you laugh, in fact you get more scared as the movie goes on. In the end you are as scared as Michael's character and you want to see her punished.
Evelyn was batshit cray cray but she wasn't scary. Just very funny.
The filming was SUPERB. The way the entire movie was shot was just phenomenal. Just 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Stunning. And we'll written and 🎭Brilliantly Performance
Am I the only person who thinks Micheal Douglas is a major sliver fox?
Nope. I definitely think he's a handsome older man as well.
Sometimes I believe the Oscars should give more than one award out to deserving performers. I love Moonstruck but Glen Close should also have received one. Two very different movies, both classic gems in different genres.
👍
Glenn Close was better than Cher. Sorry.
I saw this movie in the theater with my brother, my mother, and my aunt. I almost died of embarrassment during the sex scenes.
Lol
You should have asked, "I'm going to get some popcorn. Does anyone want anything?" 😂🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿🍿
Glenn Close was phenomenal in this film and Anne Archer was also brilliant two amazing actors,
I just loved her crazy hair, too! Tremendous actors!!
Michael Douglas’s hair is fabulous
One of the greatest movies of all time.
I'll never forget when I saw this film in the theater for the first time. I was so into to it, when that last crucial scene in the bathroom at the end right after the gun shot that killed Alex happened the theater was so quiet I couldn't control myself. I yelled " DIE BITCH" . The whole audience laughed and applauded. It was a great moment for me.
😂😂😂
One of my absolute favorites
I watched a year ago and it’s still a great flick to rewatch over the years
Glenn was impressive as a disturbed woman, not only the attitude but something in her eyes. It wasn't the best idea of me watching this movie when I was 14 y.o., I've bumped into Alex mental clones ever since...............
I can't believe Glenn Close still doesn't have an Oscar.
That movie was just AWESOME. Brilliant performance from Glenn.
This is where the term "bunny boiler" originated from. Still in use to this day.
Seeing this on the big screen and running home in a thunderstorm was so memorable! It got everyone hyped up lol.
I actually agree with Glen I wouldn't consider Alex a true psychopath. I think she was deeply disturbed with borderline personality disorder and a desperate lonely almost 40 year old woman who found a love connection with Dan. I think her pregnancy made her even more unstable cause she so desperately wanted that family unit with him. Extreme yes but her character didn't really fit psychopath to me. Just more caught up in deep emotions she was unable to control.
If you were a man, you might feel differently. She boiled a bunny. She attacked people with kitchen knives. She kidnapped their kid. She was most definitely a psychopath.
@@ustac1247 true. forgot about the bunny part lol and wow. yea the kid too. and yea. the knife... yea maybe you're right lol but i think she just flipped and went off the deep end. idk. lol
Really? Shame. Not a psychopath to kill and boil an animal..and that,a rabbit.
@@ustac1247 Agreed.And also disturbed.
If you consider the original ending, yes she wasn't a psychopath. The ending with the knife really put a nail in the coffin, sadly.
Fantastic film made a lot of men think about having an affair 😂😂😂😂
I simply stayed away from unprofessional women. Asian massage and hookers for me. No problem.
People, even movie execs, said Glenn was the last person who should play Alex Forest, and they've now admitted they were wrong.
Unforgettable characters. That is when you know they nailed it
Whenever a married man approaches me about having an affair I tell them "Remember Fatal Attraction".
😂😂😂🔪
My common law boyfriend at the time was so mad that Cher won best actress over Glenn. I was The Moonstuck fan lol!
@@rpdbu8250 Glenn was great as Sunny Von Bulow in Reversal of Fortune. But yes this one was where she was in a featured role.
I had never been terrified of Glenn until she did fatal attraction. 😄 It shows what an excellent range she has. She can play anything. Love all her work. 🥰
I remember watching this movie when it first came out in 1987. It was the longest line i have ever waited to watch a movie. The line was wrapped around the building. It's one of the greatest movies I have watched in a theater.
ALL TIME CLASSIC.
This movie was insane! If you never saw it, it is a must watch, edge of your seat thriller!
I watched it last Saturday on Blu-ray
Great movie really memorable especially because of Glenn close.
This is an incredible film
At the time Glenn Close scared the fk out of me ever considering cheating!!
I’m not going to be ignored Dan ….
Michael Douglas will always be my favorite actor! ❤
Glenn has aged so beautifully. She was never the most glamorous in the 70s and 80s, but she became in time better-looking than most of her peers.
No kidding iconic movie 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Glenn playing her character Alex on SNL was hilarious.
Never saw that
Love this movie have it now and I'd watch this before moonstruck.
I "get" what you're saying! I loved Cher in Moonsstruck, of course, Nicholas Cage had something to do with that selection; but gotta say, today, 35 years later! Yep, should have been Glen Close!
She was absolutely beautiful in the movie! ❤
I met Anne Archer once, she was lovely
I'll never forget the reaction after people started filing out of the theater, pin drop quiet, I went to the bathroom and girls were in there saying my boyfriend will never cheat on me, they weren't laughing just like gasping, it was traumatizing, that was a long quiet ride home for me an my boyfriend I don't think we said anything ever again at least to each other about that movie, I'm surprised Glenn didn't get the oscar for that roll
should continue to be a lesson for all men thinking a wondering eye is harmless
Wandering. Learn English
I watched it once, it made me so sick that even when I see the picture on the DVD I get sick. It's a one and done movie.
Glenn not having an Academy Award is all we need to know about the Oscars.
Its an absolute shocker than glenn hasn't won an Oscar! Especially for this film alone. .
Politics, connections over talent - Cher (ehemmm)
Oh my goodness, great film
ICONIC... Her w the knife digginnitnin her leg while.shes talking to him.....Omg intense she was brilliant shlda won oscar hands down
I loved this! But they didn't address the obvious, and age old question about Alex. Was she really pregnant or not? I say, "Yes!"!! I've had some fun debates with family members about this. As bad she was, I don't believe Alex was lying about her pregnancy.
Fun fact: When they came back to re-shoot the ending with Alex drowning in the bathtub, and then being shot... Glenn Close was Actually Pregnant at the Time!!
And when she was 8 months pregnant the following year, while presenting at the Oscar's with Michael Douglas. They had no idea why the audience cracked up laughing, when they saw the 2 coming on stage together. Her being big and pregnant. Lol!! Later they realized why the audience broke into hysterical laughter! Lol!!
Dan confirmed Alex’s pregnancy with her doctor. He never denied the pregnancy. She was pregnant.
@@anitaneal1779 Correct! And I always bring that up to people who say she was lying. She could never get a doctor to tell that lie for her, Ergo, she was always telling the truth!
@@pauliegirl11 Dan knew she was pregnant. He knew what he’d done.
