Michael Douglas is easily one of my favorite actors. He maintains that old-school movie star vibe like his dad to an extent, but he still manages to come across as a regular Joe, as well. Extremely versatile actor. Comedy. Action. Drama. Romance. He’s the whole package. The real deal.

I think some people are too quick to be offended. She was great in the role, magnificent performance, but I agree…not the type of woman looks wise that most men would risk everything for. Beauty is subjective, but I think we can all agree that she is not an obvious head turner.

I think it’s quite realistic he fell for her - firstly someone who isn’t the most beautiful or slender woman in the room can try to get mens attention by being hyper sexual. Secondly he might have let his guard down letting her get close fast because he felt he wasn’t that attracted intially. I think no one is offended to say she a not a classical beauty - but it messes with your head because like dan experienced it she becomes more attractive first - and then crazier and uglier. She’s a great actress, great in that movie, as Douglas and Anne archer were who played m Douglas’s wife. But I did always think g close would’ve been better cast as the wife and Ann archer as the affair lady. But having said that g close was just scary and unhinged that maybe only she could have done. The one bit in that film that always fascinates me is when Douglas and his wife are auguring about the affair, and the little girl Ellen walks in in and strokes her little toy crying , scared at seeing her mum and dad fighting. It seems so natural , possibly the best bit of acting from a child actor I’ve ever seen. I still think she was genuinely crying maybe? As a father that scene always melts my heart.
Let me translate what he really wanted to say Michael Douglas was worried that Glenn Close wasn’t good looking enough for the part. He was worried that audiences wouldn’t believe that a guy as handsome as he is would have a one night with a butter face like Glenn Close.
