Tokyo team girl members both kicked ass! Nobara is definitely one of my favorite female anime characters after this season! It was also nice to get a little more backstory on Maki and Mei. Miwa (blue hair) always getting bullied by those other 2 lol, I interpreted her being happy about Mei saying Maki is weak because she knows she herself isn't the most powerful and she wants to impress the teachers. Her Simple Domain is not the same thing as a Domain Expansion that we've seen from Jogo/Mahito/Gojo, that's why Yuji could dodge the sword earlier!

So from my understanding as an anime only fan, it seems like Mai didn’t want to be a sorcerer at, and actually found curses to be really scary. However, because Maki made the decision to go against the Zenin clan, Mai was also forced by the clan to be a sorcerer as punishment
This some what random but considering your an anime only fan. Maki is strong but just wait till you meet Toji. I’m not gonna say his last name because that would be a spoiler I think.
i think Mai was forced because since theyre twins, shes also expected to be one. Also their family is really strict with being a jujustu sorcerer, and since Maki put effort in it and wanted to become a good sorcerer Mai was forced to put in as much effort too even if she didnt want to. Thats why she said "why couldnt you just stay at the bottom with me" because Mai was completely fine with their family looking down on them for being girls in the family, but Maki was different. She wanted to prove them wrong and become the head of the Zenin clan.

and apparently Mai sacrifices herself to make a weapon with her technique so Maki can fight (i forgot their name sorry)
They literally said that in the episode. The head said he would put Mai through the same ordeals as Maki, if Maki chose to leave. And Maki said go ahead, with Mai freaking listening. So yes, they explicitly told you they tortured Mai and forced her to become a sorcerer on the level of Maki as a direct consequence of Maki telling them to go ahead and do it. It was the entire point of the flashback, Maki knew it would happen and Mai heard her say it, all on top of breaking her 'I'll never leave you" promise at the same time. I'm baffled by people acting like it wasn't explicitly told to you in this episode, not just in the flasback but Mai freaking tells Maki she never wanted to do any of it and was forced by the clan to keep up. Like, how do people miss all of that.

12:23 that's not the issue here. Mai never wants to be a sorcerer because it's not only a dangerous job but also scary what with all the horrifying curses. But because of Maki's decision to be a sorcerer, the clan head forced Mai to pursue this career as well, that's why Mai blamed Maki for dragging her along. It's not "what more can you want". Mai never wanted anything other than for people to leave her be. She never wanted any of this. It was Maki who wanted it.
this is actually my favorite episode next to episode 23. I really appreciate how the female characters in this anime are actually their own people unlike in naruto n other anime. Plus maki n Mai too. Also nobara. This episode was definitely one of the best
yeah, my favorites are 13 where mahito was getting jumped and 17,23,24 for obvious reasons ofc
same!! there are so much points in this episode which just speaks to me and so many people esp with the talk of nobara/momo (expectations of women in society) and mai/maki (sibling dynamic, being "selfish" for ur own dreams, diff. ways women wish to pursue life) which are all just wonderful parallels to the real world.

Really loved the reaction this was my favorite first episode of JJK second cour. As much this hurts to say as a Nobara stan this was definitely a Maki episode although Nobara got shot with the bullet she had somewhat of an episode. Maki truly felt like what other characters in other anime needed. Gege (author) making character development like well written so maybe that why people enjoyed her in this episode more besides Nobara. But all I got to say is don't sleep on Nobara yet she will have a shining character development somewhere ;). If only she didn't get caught with the bullet she would have won. Maki backstory was awesome can't say less about that. Plus my other favorite was 20 and then the last one was a secret you'll find out soon!
Edit: Unnecessary; but all JJK female are top waifu tiers no one is JJK sucks or lack development. There hella hot not gunna lie. Just had to get this in here, just saying lol. Man I love JJK!

We got to see Nobara show off some of her abilities in an earlier episode, so I'm glad we got to Maki fighting in this one! Though doesn't mean I don't want to see more of Nobara kicking ass, I love both characters!! - Dani

Amazing reaction as always~~ i really love this episode, cause it adds so much to the females characterization... their believes, their strengh, their fighting skills. They usally don't put this much effort into the female characters in anime, so i really respected Jujutsu Kaisen and Akutami (the manga writter) when I first saw this. I'm really excited for the next episodes reactions!
So happy all the girls got to show out and all have their own motivations and reasons for being sorcerers that arent surrounding the main chara! For a shounen I'm very happy with all the female characters in jujutsu kaisen
I'm not sure how a non-lethal gun is cheated or unfair as opposed to shikigamis, cursed speech or quite frankly most other abilities? And i'm not sure about cheap shots since they're encouraged to incapacitate each other however they see fit to begin with. Nobara did get training since then but tbf Mai and her already had a physical fight where Nobara was knocked out - she ended up getting Mai in a chokehold after Maki intervened. Also who knows how Nobara would've fared if Momo (girl on the broom) didn't have to waste energy to prevent a cursed speech attack by Toge. I was also impressed with how Miwa did despite how good Maki is

You'll see Toge (Bonito Flake boi) fight in a few episodes, also there's a little something happening with Gojou in the near future (during the Kyoto Goodwill Event Arc [current arc]). Also, Fushiguro'll have his time to shine towards the end of the season with one of the most hype episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen. And Kugisaki's CRAZY side will also be shown in the LAST episode of JJK (also one of the best eps in JJK). The Death Painting Arc (The next arc) is just 🤌 with the best moments of the season... and you're slowly approaching it 🙂
