Jujutsu did both Maki and Nobara justice. And the animation is super clean.

@@simpbirderenjaeger3620 yeah I know. I donk’t think that they “prioritize” jjk, but jjk simply had a good chedule while AoT has a terrible schedule. Despite that Mappa has been able to do an adaptation above average for AoT in terms of animation. It’s not jjk level but it’s pretty damn good imo. Like the artstyle and face expressions are perfect, season 2 level. Ost has been on point, direction and pacing are basically perfect. So yeah the only really improvable thing is the cgi which would be better if it was hand drawn

This part was so well written in manga and amplified in anime. Mai, like she said, didn't want to be a sor eror. And it's not that she "doesn't have willpower" it's that she's the type of people that the doll making principal talked about in ep 2 and that gojou talked about in ep 3. She's the type of sorceror who isn't crazy. She's afraid of curses and afraid of all the pain and horrors that come with the job. She's just a normal person with a normal mindset who wants to live a normal life but was unlucky enough to be born in one of the 3 clans. Whats worse is her technique isn't the 10 shadow one that megumi has and unlike maki she's not particularly strong so she's considered as trash by her family and made into a servant. But she could bare with it because she had her sister. But Maki wasn't afraid and she wanted to become a sorceror despite not having cursed energy. She was crazy. But after leaving the family so she wouldn't be just a servant, mai was forced to become a sorceror to spite maki for her decision to leave. And mai was left all alone to deal with being forced to be a sorceror, forced to fight scary curses, forced to endure the pain and horror that comes with the job all while being viewed as worthless by her family. And worst of all she didn't have maki, the only one she could rely on and who promised to be with her, by her side. It was like maki abandoned her there. But at the same time, just like in real life, sometimes your passion must come at the cost of friends or family which is, in this episode, the choice that maki faced.

@@Whocaresssssssss As a technique, "Construction" is quite powerful, the issue is that Mai narrowed its use to focus it on her proficiency with guns due to the physical and cursed energy demands it has.
So theoretically, if she was able to expand the amount of cursed energy she could gather and worked on her physical endurance, she could make much more than bullets.
Unfortunately, because she lacks superhuman-strength, she did not put much focus into close range combat, which is the downfall of every specialized ranged fighter.
Maki is Tenten if she was actually the weapon expert.
Fr Nobara is what Sakura should have been and Maki is what Tenten should have been

In case some don't understand, "Mai hated Maki cause Maki left her behind in pursue of her dream so she feels obligated to put in effort too to chase after her." That's not the case. Remember when Maki told the head (their dad) that she wants to be the head of the clan? The dad said he'll put her through ordeals befitting of that, and not just her, he'll put Mai through it too. So Mai is forced to become a Jujutsu Sorcerer merely because Maki wanted to. She was pulled along against her will. That's why she blames Maki for it.

Also, that's bullcrap about scars being an ugly mark on a woman. Tsuyoko from Gintama, Najenda from Akame ga Kill, Balalika from Black Lagoon. All of them have scars or missing body parts and each one of them is still beautiful and badass in their own ways. And the scars take none of that away, if anything, they make them even cooler

seriously, that elevated her to best character in the series for me. maybe it's a little fantasy fulfillment, but having a female character who's confident in all aspects of herself is such a breath of fresh air. a number of other series have "tough girl" characters who are insecure bc they want to reconcile that aspect of themselves with a more feminine side, and while it's an okay character arc, nobara being "fuck that I'm perfect as I am bitch" from the start is so good. love me some confident women~

If Maki took Mai with her wouldn't it have been better. It would have been a bigger middle finger to the Zenin clan as well by losing both heirs.
The thing with Mai is it isnt that she was just lazy its that she was forced to become a jujutsu sorcerer specifically because Maki did what she did. Maki uprooted her and her sister's life which is selfish but understandable given the situation. Cant blame Mai though

Mai is not the actually talented one, despite having cursed energy. It's Maki who's talented 'cause of her insane Heavenly Pact. That's why Maki's so strong physically. Her cursed energy was exchanged for her superhuman strenght. Just like Mechamaru's human body was exchanged for insane cursed energy. There's a few interesting tidbits you missed. You should rewatch on your own. BTW yeah, the animation in this episode was CRAZY!
So she's great to fight humans but if she loses her weapon she's unable to kill the curse she is fighting
Both are talented, one doesn't have the confidence and motivation to become a sorcerer despite being blessed with talents that fix to the role in contrast to the other one that have confidence and motivation to become a sorcerer despite not having talents for a sorcerer.
Mai curse ritual is a pretty big deal because create something out of nothing have a lot more potential than maki raw brute force.
this happen a lot in real life where people that have great talents for certain role doesn't want to chase it because they don't want to and viceversa

I'm enjoying the way Gege Akutami writes characters as a whole, but specifically his antagonists in this arc. Between, Mai & Mechamaru, I'm starting to see a pattern with some of the attitudes of the Kyoto kids. I like how Akutami writes it so that you can simultaneously understand and disagree with the cognitive throughline that led them to the point they've reached. Like, I empathize with their struggles and at the same time don't feel sorry enough for them to approve of the way they cope (being complete assholes). That can be a challenge to get right, because you have a lot of writers who end up making the villain the one who really isn't in the wrong.

These heavenly pacts are pretty crazy it’s like a disadvantage but with an Advantage in a weird way.
They are called Heavenly restrictions are the underlying meaning is beautiful. Technically since they lose equal part of cursed energy to gain physical stats, they should be as strong as any other normal sorceror. But unlike physical stats, CTs are versatile and sorcerors can use CE reinforcement to boost their physical stats anyway. So not only can sorcerors make up the gap of physical strength, they also can use CTs, DEs etc. Thats why it is still called heavenly "RESTRICTION". Unless you have super high physical stats like Toji, HRs are still disadvantageous compared to being normal.
In case of Mechamaru he is disabled so the "restriction" makes even more sense.
that animation in the Nobara fight, was by the one and only, tatsuya yoshihara, the godlike director and animator of black clover, he is sooo goood he made a scene for this, a scene for black clover 162 (a godlike one) and one for priority egg this week, he is amazing

After this episode my feelings about the power system being very influenced by nen are pretty much confirmed. Miwa's simple domain is literally just what Nobunaga did, and that making matter from curse energy plus the whole pact/restrictions. This isn't a fault or anything, I really love the nen system and I really love this one.
