I remember playing this game way back in 2003 I have no idea about JRPG or RPG in general man I didn't know that I started my JRPG journey with this legendary game now hearing it again brings so much memories and nostalgia
@@MarxasThomas Yes Media Vision/Sony got the rights to use the soundtrack for the game and remixed it accordingly. It can be seen in other tracks such as the main theme relating to Fistful of Dollars.
Of course the insparation is ecstasy of gold and this is an incredible choice. It fits perfectly the game and the 'western" ambiance of the beginning of the game.
No doubt man. I was listening to a guys podcast on his top 50 RPGs and this was 43 and the music took over in my mind as being the best. Sadly I never played Wild Arms but it's better late then never 😂
It's not ripped off, it's actually a remixed version of the theme. They got the rights to do it. Sadly Ennio Morricone passed away today. A true legend.
The moment I walked out of the first town as Rudy and heard L'estasi Del'oro I was sold on this game hook, line, and sinker! This soundtrack was amazing.
Damn man............. i remember going over my neighbors house when I was a child listening to this legendary OST. I miss you Josh and Daniel. I hope you guys are good wherever you are.
Heard this elsewhere. I was humming along and it felt nostalgic to me. I've never played this game. Then I read the Ecstasy of Gold comments and it clicked. That's why it felt familiar.
A lot of people heard Ecstasy of Gold first then this theme, but for me this is the first time I have ever exposed to Ennio Morricone. Then I watch The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly of course :)
PLEASE tell me someone else can hear "Ecstasy of gold" in this... I mean... besides the hard rock and the drums... I listened to them side by side and.... there are minor differences but they remind me so much of each other!
Is someone on gaming halls playing a game that has a gold styled theme and when you win big in the free spins this melody comea up? This got me back to listening to this awesome soundtrack 😊
After all these years I'm surprised nobody realized that this music is a remixed version of an old Clint East Wood movie called the Good the Bad and the Ugly.
Little nods to great spaghetti westerns like this are what made Wild Arms 1 great, and set it apart from the shit sandwich that the franchise became. L'estasi del'oro as the world map theme? Fucking awesome.
Metallica enters the stage to Morricone's "Ecstasy of Gold" at all of their concerts. Because of this, they were asked to compose a cover version of the song for the "We Love Ennio Morricone" compilation. There is simply no ripping off happening.
@SinJackal Naruke was a big fan of spaghetti western music, and it IS a bit different after the main theme. I think this is a great tribute to the original song. The music in this game very much reminds me of Alundra. That game rocked, too.
Yeah, plenty of people were saying that, but great "caring" shouldn't be assumed from a mere 2 sentence reply from a year ago. It doesn't really matter if you agree. Whether or not someone feels they're overrated is just their opinion, I have mine and you have yours. We don't need to agree with eachother or anyone else for our opinions to feel validated. And yes, Wild Arms did also "rip off" the song. Not from Metalica, but from the original guy who Metalica ripped it off from as well.
Metallica recorded the studio version of The Ecstasy because they were asked to partake on a tribute album to Ennio. Furthermore, Hetfield cites that The Good, The Bad is one of his favorite movies as well as Clint Eastwood being one of his favorite actors. They also sampled the song as an intro since the 1980s Showing appreciation towards something you like doesn't constitute as ripping off. I'd wager that those 9 people that "agree" with you didn't know that as well as yourself.
@MiKEY83091 Yep, that's exactly what I was referring to. At the time I made that old comment, there were a few comments about how "Wild Arms ripped off Metalica", so I thought that was ironic since Metalica ripped off the Clint Eastwood movie's soundtrack for that song.
@Visualundeath It was barely rearranged. The tune was almost the exact same only played with different instruments, and then added stuff around it to make a more interesting track. You don't understand why I even made that comment. People were posting here claiming that Wild Arms soundtrack ripped off Metalica, which it clearly did not. They were dumb enough to think Metalica invented the tune, hence my comment.
And I seriously doubt the game devs for Wild Arms have even heard of the Metallica song, because the Wild Arms one sounds nothing like that at all. Rather, it sounds very close to the Clint Eastwood one, which was the obvious inspiration for the song on this video.
I believe ecstasy of gold was originally from The Good The Bad and The Ugly. . It was most definitely sampled for the making of this theme. Metallica made their own cover of the song because GBU was one of the band member's favorite movie. watch?v=NOKhQ8ObQ7E
Doesn't matter. To begin with, my comment was directed at people who claimed that the developers of this game ripped off Metalica. Hence my comment about the idiots who made said comments. The fact remains that the song was created well before Metalica ripped it off/made a tribute to it (whatever makes you feel better) I also don't really care about how many people like my comments, but I guess it's too bad that it bothers you that so many people liked my comment and didn't like any of yours.
@Visualundeath In other words, they used the tune of that song as a base to create a song specifically based on that other song. You can use euphemisms for it and label it as whatever you want, but you can't deny that the metallica song was specifically based on that other song. I'm not ashamed to say Wild Arms ripped off the Clint Eastwood movie. They did. What I'm saying is, it's pathetic that ignorant kids think they ripped off Metalica who in fact ripped off the Clint Eastwood movie.
You mean the same bands that do it because they are fans of the work and pay honor to it? The same bands that introduce more people to a classic work that deserves to be exposed to as many generations as possible? I personally love it when people fail at being wiseguys since it's hilarious how they lack any type of logic or facts. Not a fan of said band either by the way. Still funny though :P
@Visualundeath See as how I have the top rated comment, I'm not worried about how many people agree or don't agree with me since obviously most agree. Feel free to continue your Metalica white knighting. The fact remains that they ripped off the Clint Eastwood tune, and Wild Arms did as well. The Wild Arms tune is not based upon the Metalica song whatsoever, which is my entire point. So all your commenting is completely pointless seeing as how the truth is fairly obvious.
Late but no, not a ripoff. This is the only right song to take for a western game. Ecstasy of Gold will be forever the best song to go with a western game.

When you get a chance go watch an old movie called the Good the Bad and the Ugly starring Clint East Wood. This music is basically from that movie.
I just heard that song and tought, is this...?
The best RPG map theme ever.. I remenber playing this game when i was 12 and this music sent a shiver down my spine
same thing happens reading this (plus i got a bon*** :D)

That's what makes it even bigger.
Who cares as long as it integrates the game perfectly
