Thankyou for that. That was very helpful. I've never known or seen the sound deadening stick ons in the beginning of the video. I'm waiting on my promaster to be built and delivered. Your videos are gonna help tremendously
We are starting to build-out our first van and we are so thankful for your channel. So much useful knowledge... plus we can't get enough of your personality lol!
Thank you for putting in that bolt info for the bed. Too many people do these videos and gloss over the most important information. An entire video on their build and no specifics on the materials they used and why.
Your channel really helps me out! Much love brother! Just started my first build and whenever I am in doubt I know Big Logan probably has me covered ;) Greetings from Germany.
For a person my size this is entertaining overkill. :) Still getting great ideas and encouragement along with the joy of watching your family. Definitely will be watching more! Thank you Logan.
the man! the legend! great vid! installed my windows and now im ready to frame along side my ceiling fan! however i do love the king size im a small single dude lol so the full size bed frame should work. this vid helps so much !
Good work- I'm getting ideas from different builders, and I'm sure I'll lr=earn a lot from your build. But what really impressed me was those little boys. If you're all that and a bag og of chips as a neighbor, you're gonna be a helluva father. Respect, mister.
i saw your garage builds, really great. i see here you have some kind of portable worktable on wheels, next to the van build. would love to see how that was made and size. thanks
Where can I find sketchup plans for the base size of the Promaster 159? I find the models I found in the Sketchup marketplace section were difficult to work with...
Did you have LED lights on any of the ceiling support beams? I have a 2020 Promaster and it came with a string of LED lights that are wired into the van and go across 2 of the support beams. I am trying to find instructions from someone who has removed them.
This probably gets asked a lot….but why only one square of the sound deadener on a panel? Isn’t it an insulator also? I’ve only seen a few vans where they used it on the entire wall. Most just put the square. Just wondering does it insulate ? Is it overkill to do all the walls? Thanks!
Great question and I differ from other upfitters and builders by only placing what is needed to deaden the resonance / drumming noise created by the rigid metal body. I insulate with Havelock Wool and have always built my vans with 1 package of Kilmat.
Hi, so you used 2x8s for the bed frame, I'm curious what you used for the rest of the framing? I don't think you mentioned it but I apologize if you have already!
Big dog! Been a while since our Fat Daddy's days. Somehow came across your channel here and I've been locked in on this van conversion project. Can't wait to see how it turns out! Hope you're well homie!
Great videos btw. I just bought a Promaster with the missing bulkhead and have been trying to decide what to do. I think I'll copy you since it came out so nice. That indoor/outdoor carpet is just that much more insulation/sound deadening. Nice work btw. I see you went with an isotherm fridge as will I. I'm gonna get the cruise 65. I'm doing 650 watts solar with two 325 residential panels...400ah lithium....maxair fan and a all in one internet package set up from mobilemusthave.com. I'm doing all this in the Promaster 1500! I was thinking of using a propane shower but decided on a Bosch electric water tank heater instead since I'll have the power. I will have a propane stovetop and probably a Propex heater as well. Gonna carry 2 20lb tanks in a vented propane locker under the stove so I can stay off grid for a couple months if I had to. I'm thinking an over the wheel well 45 gallon tank for the outdoor shower and a separate 7 gal fresh/7gal grey under the sink with a footpump to conserve the water used at sink. Good stuff Logan! So glad I found your channel.
Awesome! Very similar in a few ways, propane cooktop with small bottle under countertop, doing 30 gallons fresh and 15 galling grey underbody. Bosch 4 galling electric water heater. 300solar, dc to dc mppt all in one solar and alternator charge controller, and 250ah Lead acid bank to start. Can’t wait for it to turn out! Good luck on your build!
hey Big, congrats on the build, this is super helpful info, so just curious, notice you're screwing self tappers directly into the sheet metal... are you not concerned about the raw screw holes eventually rusting down the road?
I've got a promaster myself. I'm wondering why you need to frame though. Can't you just rivet panels directly onto the metal frame? The promaster is already pretty straight.
There’s a negative to stuff like killmat. it absorbs heat at the hottest time of the day and re-radiates it inside the van right at the time of day, late afternoon or early evening, when you’re going to be inside of it and wanting to be cool. That’s especially a problem for dark colored vans
That ius some outstanding sound quality. Is that really from that little mic in your list? If so I need that! Sounds like you are not only recording indoor but in a soundproofed room.!
Hey Zach, that early in the build it’s impossible to know what’s going to be level (front to rear) due to added weight of the build, especially water and battery bank, and weight of the slat bed. I simply made this “level” with the body of the van. The top structure of the bed will be built towards the end of the project and can be adjusted if it is still uncomfortably off. Thanks for watching!
I would stay away from framing with conventional lumber all together. Using light weight materials like 1/2" and 3/4" plywood is better for multiple reasons. #1 is weight, #2 it doesn't warp, #3 it saves on space which is key in every van build. EVERY INCH COUNTS!
New to the channel and I like the content I've seen so far but 5 ads in a 15 min video makes me want to close it every time its interrupted. 🤷♂️ Maybe it's just me but probably not.
JK man thanks for the feedback I dialed these ads back, UA-cam just come out with a more aggressive arragnement of ads throughout video so I need to customize each post from now on! Hope you subscribed to the BLC!!!
I will follow this build. I want a custom van build myself. Like your channel!
Thanks a bunch! This is gonna be an epic build!
Love your assistants and patience involving them in your build ❤️
Just love how you interact with your kids!
Ok big Logan.. come do mine next
You did it man !!!
After watching a bunch of German videos about his topic Im happy I found you. Definitely is more fun watching your video hahaha
Love the music and video!
have you ever heard of a forstner bit? little easier than a router
Thankyou for that. That was very helpful.
I've never known or seen the sound deadening stick ons in the beginning of the video. I'm waiting on my promaster to be built and delivered. Your videos are gonna help tremendously
Love seeing the kids helping u out thats always cool to see kids getting excited to do work
They are awesome kids for sure! Very talented and special!
Hi, from london uk
Thank you! This is helpful! I'm building out a 1988 chevy van and I am so psyched!

Thanks Duana glad this was informative!
@@biglogan3690 May I ask how Big where the boards 2 by 6?
Hey! It’s been two years. Anything you’d change in how you appplied the Kilmat, if anything? We’re about to start and doing the research.
You cool homie. Good job on the video and the van.
This by far is one of the best builds that I've ever seen well thought out for your needs congratulations and don't stop building dude
4 years and 16 promasters all over the country!
Dude fantastic video and super entertaining!! 👍🏻
dude... i just want to say thank you for making tutorials that don't waste my mf time. subbed.
Get to the point and get cracking! 🤙🏻
Your channel really helps me out! Much love brother! Just started my first build and whenever I am in doubt I know Big Logan probably has me covered ;) Greetings from Germany.
i love that you named her peggy. nobody else on youtube, that ive seen, names their vans. i named my e150 Vanna White!
Good work!!!
I am making my Promaster into a sleeper for when I am on call. It help so much to see how you tackled your build. Thanks!
I really like your channel Big Logan, you show so much and explain so well, I appreciate that you doing a great job.
Thanks Stephen!!
Really interesting to watch this van build literally from the floor up. Can't wait to see more episodes and especially the final product. Good luck!
That’s right! From the ground up and all the way through completion! Can’t wait to see it unfold as well!
Awesome info sir...thank you very much for puttin it out there for us... great job with the boys helping ❤
Love your extra helpers on this episode! As always great info.
Looks like you got some future van builders. Awesome
Thank you for sharing your van b7ild process...easy to follow , simple explanations and great job. Thank you. New sub.
Are those 1x3's that you are using for the long horizontal framing pieces?
What size are those furring strips
good job man , i like the way U are !
Great positive energy! Can't wait to watch this build. Thanks for sharing. 👍👍
Back atcha! Let’s do this!!

Loved the kids helping out!
Extremely great instruction, this is perfectly on point! Thank you, much appreciated.
Try a forstner bit for recesing bolts. Much faster.
Thanks Gary, I have them now!
I think the advantage of taller counters/chairs is their is more storage underneath vs over the counters
Keep the amazing work up
Thanks Mobile Mechanic! It's coming along great! Stay Tuned...
Hi Logan, did you use some impregnation for the wood to protect it from fungus/mold?
Nope I’m finishing with havelock wool and wood shiplap so these naturally breathe…
Logan
I hope I can build my van as good as you have built yours! Love your videos. 👍🏻🚐
Thanks Susan!
Big Logan, you’re the man. Great content
Thanks!
Awesome content dude! It’s super nice to follow your adventures :) keep up the good work bro and enjoy!!
Thanks for the positivity!! Rock on!
This is great! Good inspo for a friend and I to build a van!
Excellent thanks for the feedback Charlie!
Great helpers!!!

Great idea for a separate episode! Let me see what I can do!
Just found your channel. Diggin the build!
Let’s rock and roll!! New vlog this week...
Just found your channel, really enjoyed your vid!
Looking forward to seeing the progress. I would like to build one myself someday.
You can do it!
Where can I find sketchup plans for the base size of the Promaster 159? I find the models I found in the Sketchup marketplace section were difficult to work with...
Yooo big logan! Did you take outthat passenger side sliding door light?
Yes and rear cargo door light. Just pop em out and unplug.
Did you have LED lights on any of the ceiling support beams? I have a 2020 Promaster and it came with a string of LED lights that are wired into the van and go across 2 of the support beams. I am trying to find instructions from someone who has removed them.
Sure did, they just unsnap from the silver clips, unplug from wiring harness on passenger side, and the clips can be unscrewed / removed. Good luck!
First time dropping in on the channel.
Noticed tracking.
What branch?
Branch of service? I was Air Force
digg'in your videos Logan!
Thanks!!!
Awesome build. New to the channel. Love everything you do. One day I hope to be able to build out a van like this.
Thanks Logan! Welcome to the channel! Hopefully this build series can help you on your project someday!

Thanks Nikki good luck!

Furring strips! Ask your local hardware store / lumber store
Hey Logan! Love your channel and am learning so much - just got a ProMaster as well and diving into the build soon! Do you use a GoPro 8 to record?
GoPro Hero 7 🤙🏻

Burgess!! My man! Rock on my man thanks for watching! You still on west coast??
Great video. How did you secure the studs on the ceiling? I didn't see you using nuts. Perhaps I missed it.
Same way, self tappers and liquid nails
Is someone going to be sitting near the rear wheel wells while you’re driving?
Greetz from The Netherlands btw.
BLC is worldwide!
This was so helpful for me. Van is completed 🙂 #vanlifeprepper
How much Kilmer did you use? I have a Nissan NVS 2500 High roof. It's my first build. Please give me some advice.
Just get one box of QTY 50 (might be a pack of 60) you will be covered with that
@@biglogan3690 thank you big dog!
Why did you decide to replace the factory composite floor with plywood?

I did the Woden subfloor to have plenty of material to fasten screws into for vanity’s chairs bed etc.
Can't wait to see this all done!
Me neither Heavyq! Thanks for watching and hope you subscribed to the BLC!
@@biglogan3690 I found your channel looking for a workbench to build in my garage and subbed about half-way through the vid! :D

He liked your comment but didn't respond..
What software did you use for design?
Trimble Sketchup Online! It’s 100% free
I've got a promaster myself. I'm wondering why you need to frame though. Can't you just rivet panels directly onto the metal frame? The promaster is already pretty straight.
Yes for sure,
This was prepping for no-show hardware with shiplap walls. Check out the rest of the build series

Hmm, I’m curious how that piece for the 45 on the back is mounted to the bed boards. Self tappers through the bed board and metal?
Yes!
