A lot of people should take your advice on a how to video. So many dummies out there thinking they can teach but very few actually can make a decent instructional video. Thanks
Thanks for those kind words. I do my best to share information that I know, good to know there are people like you out there that appreciate the effort that's put into the videos.
nice to know how hard is to change the steering sensor, now i did change my mind
wont even try to do it,, thank you so much for the video,,
tony bosevski Not hard, just requires some patience and time.
Very informative video. If a viewer is not that familiar with the interior of his/her BMW, this might be intimidating. I would suggest you do a brief add-on showing what it would look like if you still had all the interior parts in the car, as it can look more confusing that it really is with all the trim pieces of the car.
I like yours because it shows areas that wouldn't be accessible by the camera, where you would be essentially working blind.
Well done!
Thank you.
That was our ultimate goal, to show viewers removal process while steering column was out of car and not have blind spots. Thanks for watching.

muy buena informacion, it has good information good job guys
+william Rivera Thanks

that plastic clip holding the sensor is a SOB to press on a z4.... i mean there's going to be 0.000000002 mm room to wiggle it out. I actually used a filer to filed it down a little before finally getting it out.
There were some successful attempts to replace the SAS without removing whole steering column from the car, all you need to do is to disjoint it from flexible connection behind the fire wall and splinted shaft will have enough stroke to slide into the column to replace the steering angle sensor, very simple.
Thanks for your input
You are welcome, your videos are very good, thanks for posting them, it helps BMW community a lot.
FAIRBOY11 what do You mean? Is there another way to change the sensor? A easier way?
I know you can calibrate the sensor with most advanced code readers but do I need to have it coded with something like inpa? We don’t have a bmw close by so I’d need to learn the coding myself
Thanks for the video. Once the sensor has been replaced is there a need to take it to BMW for any recalibration?
Hello, Once angle sensor has been installed, it will need to get realigned. You don't have to take it to dealer. Just find a good independent bmw shop and they can do it for you. We charge $80 to realign sensor
Is there any differences between the M3 sensor and compared to the 325/330 sensor other thab the price??
Thank you for watching our DIY Video. There's shouldn't be any differences.
This is Fantastic ! Thank you . Do you know if i can use a second hand sensor ? There's alot of voices online , some saying yes , some no ....and how general are the sensors are all E46 angle sensors basically the same or is it crucial they have the exact part number ... ive a 330D which seems not to share according to realoem the same part number or the preceding ones with all the second hand ones available on line etc ... thankyou allready fro your help ..my uk Mot came in at over 2k so im heading into new but exiting territory for the love of my car .
ruu campbell We sell pre-owned angle sensors all the time so you shouldn't have any issues with programming. Its important that you purchase angle sensor with same part #. Check out our website, we might have one sensor in stock. Thanks

bimmermerchant thankyou - a local breakers here in the uk , advised that the part numbers dont need to match based on all the cars , the part number says the sensor is good for , so fingers crossed there . Ive just done the anti-roll bar ,breaks&pipes ,now its time to do the angle sensor and power steering ! The angle sensor : i can see the e10 Torx , presumming i should disconnect the battery before i attempt anything with the steering colomn or is that unnecessary ? Might really expose my ignorance but can this be done with out removing the steering wheel ? I know you removed the lot and i do have an advisory on my mot that my top steering joint has slight play but with so much to do .. the path of least resistance is the one i seek ...can i just pull up on the column after releasing the e10 with out removn anything else ..like steering wheels, airbags ...etc etc ...? awesome help ..keepng me and my bmw alive
Hello, should be alsmot the same on an E39 ? right ?
Also, question : I may have a current leak from this sensor, BMW Scanner 1.4 tells me LEW -> 01/03 - Terminal 30 defective and I have a 250mA leak from the control panel at fuse F24 (E39), is it possible to unplug the angle sensor without disconnecting the steering column from behind ?
Regards, Greg.
I have a 2002 BMW Z3 3.0i with this issue. Needs a steering angle sensor. However I can’t find any guide for my model of car. Does anyone know how similar this is to the e46 process? I have heard the entire column has to come out but I don’t know the steps or if there is any other way to do it. Ugh all of this for a stupid sensor. I normally wouldn’t even care I just can’t stand seeing those damn lights on my dash sets off my OCD lol
i have the same problem im thinking to do this to my 06 325i e90 will be the same process?
E90 models have the angle sensor on steering wheel clock spring, therefore process will not be the same
What is this angle sensor for? What does it do?
Per google--It transmits the steering wheel's rate of turn, wheel angle, and other important data to the specific vehicle's computer. Hope that helps.
Feel free to share our channel with anyone that might benefit from it.
I got this problem on my 06 newer body 325i is there the same process or a totally different one
sorry but can't help you here. We haven't removed angle sensor from 06 models so we can't say for sure if removal process is the same. Good luck
bimmermerchant Did you just clear the fault code afterwards to put out the dash light, or did you have to go to a bmw dealer to get the angle sensor set up on their computer? Thanks for your help an Nice video by the way. Steve in England.
It looks really very difficult. it's just sensor. Is there an easier way to do this?
It only looks difficult, but once you start the process, its pretty straight forward. Im sure there are other ways to remove this sensor, however, this was the best method that we could think of. If any one out there has a better method, we are all ears.
ho mate i need u hlep if got bmw 320 i put scanner show angle sonsor to left i bet hard to right is so cool u thing what should be?thnx
KURDISTAN uk Can't help you much since we don't have 320 models here in the states. Find a good bmw independent shop and have them take a look at it.
