    Hey guys, in this video we will demonstrated how to remove and replace the steering angle sensor on BMW e46. We demonstrated on a 2002 BMW 330ci but we installed the same sensor on a 2005 BMW 330ci ZHP. Some earlier models might have a different part number so always check before ordering one. If you have the traction control light and brake light on it is very likely that you have a bad or not calibrated steering angle sensor.

    If you have large arms, this is much easier if you remove the fuel filter cover (3 bolts and 2, 8mm nuts) . In the middle of it now and will post back. Great job on the video by the way

    YOU DONT need to pull out steering shaft, only take off the upper bolt!! And REMEMBER to luck the steering column before taking the bolt fully out, you can loose it before locking it,coz you might need to turn it to have space. this video works fully for X3 E83! Just take 2 nuts out under the steering column to drob it little, because you cant pull out that one bolt like in this video, by just taking out brake light sensor. Thank you for this video.. and sorry for my english!

      @@seankenney3022 Glad my comment was usefull, i did the jobe on hardway 😂 ( i chanced so many parts on my E83, and lost it when i got error code from the trasfer case, i took the car for the service place and they couldnt figure it out. I managed to figure it by my self, by changing abs sensor and sensor ring, So, ( this car can send error codes from transfer case even if the problem is not there, few months kicking my head and fixed trasfer case codes for 50$ haha)

    It's not actually that bad a job to do once you get things loose. It helps with the diagnosis if you jack front wheels off the ground and use an oscilloscope to show the output. It fails in the straight ahead position.

    Will replacing the steering angle sensor get rid of my abs, dsc, parking brake, and service engine soon lights? I already replaced the speed sensors and that wasn't it.

    • @_J.P._
      @_J.P._ 6 років тому +1

      ABS, DSC, parking brake and Engine light is too much problems going on at the same time. In your case it is the car literally screaming for help and since you obviously know squat visit someone with a diagnostic tool to help you help your car. Or just take it to somebody who knows what to do or else you have no car left. Imagine your house is on fire and you replaced the burned to ashes entry door with a new one hoping that would deal with the fire.

    • @Wingnut523
      @Wingnut523 6 місяців тому

      DSC & parking brake lights by themselves would indicate the Steering Angle Sensor, but add ABS and it points to the Dynamic Stability Control unit. Possibly just one or both of the sensors need replacing, but in the case of an internal fault you would need to replace the unit itself. Technically, the Service Engine Light may be unrelated, and could point to additional concerns.
