This song is about being atomic-bombed in 1945, the struggle to find hope and meaning from such devastation. I would say 'prog' in musical composition as you expressed & understood they took us on a 'roller-coaster' of emotion and musical expression of an experience known only to one group of peoples upon Earth. Their ability to embrace such tragedy & create something so meaningful and wonderful from it is unique-in-the-extreme, unique in all my experiences of music & 'message' ... I am grateful for LOVEBITES, and for your continued experiences with them, grasping an understanding of the extent of diversity of their expressions defined as "We are LOVEBITES and we play Heavy Metal!"

Mao composed "Under the Red Sky" and Miyako composed "Above the Black Sea" , together make up a love letter to Sergei Rachmaninoff. Unable to play his piano concerto No.2 on piano, Miyako created a guitar concerto with these 2 songs instead. They are linked by their titles and lyrical themes about war, wich also connect to th EP's title Battle Against Damnation. "Above the Black Sea" has a neoclassical metal feel and Midori played one of her solos in Yngwie Malmsteen-style at the sugestion of producer Steve Jacobs. Although the lyrics have no clear story, Asami imagined a JapaneseSpecial Attack Unit when writing. When writing the lyrics to "Under the Red Sky" , Asami approached it as a sequel to "The Apocalypse", from both their debut EP and first album and is about the criminal atomic bombing of Hiroshima.

You two are always entertaining. If you paws then you are a dog. If you pause then just back up just a bit. Pauses are good when you have some comments. Midori's slide guitar and that whole section reminded my of Stargazer from Rainbow with Ritchie Blackmore on guitar. The song ends almost the way you would expect a Broadway musical to end.

Who would have the guts to take on the topic of the atomic bombings for a Japanese audience? Lovebites. On top of the awesomeness of the song, I found their final bows very moving. You can see the personalities of the five of them shining through---Midori saucy and interacting with the crowd, Asami in charge, Miyako coolly satisfied, Haruna appreciative, and Miho extremely emotional. I advised you to watch the channel of 20-year-old Fami and specifically this song (bass cover), so that you can appreciate Fami's technique and why, out of a huge number of applicants, LOVEBITES chose her. It's not metal, but the technique is impressive. Especially when you consider that when she recorded this cover she was only 17 years old and she was still in school.

@@ChrisPage68 Friendship (or not) is totally irrelevant. That the bands do different stuff, of course, obviously. But still, I find Lovebites powermetal good AND perfectible. I don't feel the same listening to Nemophila. I rather feel they've achieved the full potential of most f their tracks.
