Can you detail what this means exactly please? I am new to this stuff and I’m about to get a gaming rig. I understand what a USB Hub does, but what is the difference when compared to a USB Passthrough?
Thank you for this! I was looking at this keyboard because it was customisable, looked good, and it had hotswap which was a requirement for me. You went through the MANY good things about it, but you also named your few cons, and that made me feel safe to pull the trigger and get this. I am currently unpacking and assembling and so far am VERY happy. Regarding the docking issue on the right side you had, I had none of that. This means I can confirm that this was either a misalignment with the one you got, or they fixed that issue for later batches. Regardless which it is, as of 2024, I had no issues with this at all :-)
I think it's brilliant. I like the Corsair high end keyboards, but they are too clickety clackety loud for me. For gaming, fine, for typing, working on documents... too loud. This looks like a great keyboard to own. I do have my Logitech G19s, and it is pretty feature packed.
Spot on dude. I ordered mine back in March when it was first shown. That gave Corsair plenty of time to come out with the icue and find a way to charge an extra 100 on top of the K100 which is the same price as the Everest as a basic board.
I have to warn anyone interested in purchasing this keyboard. The keyboard is good, however the software is atrocious, written in Java, constantly crashes, causes system hangs and often have to reboot the system to get base camp functioning again. Also Basecamp regularly freezes, interaction with the software is regularly faced with huge delays causing no end of frustration. Also when binding profiles and macros 6 out of 10 times an error message pops up saying something went wrong saving. There is no way to edit or change a launch this profile when chosen software is run. In short the basecamp software is extremely armature alpha bug!!!!!!!!!!!!
Was this a review sample and not the final product? The media dock should have black buttons, these look silver, or am I just seeing silver and not black?
I have a k100 and really love it. Waiting for the iCue nexus to come into stock (taking forever) to hook up to it, however have to admit this has turned my head. REALLY tempted to grab one of these. If you could compare this to the k100, and choose only one, which would you grab ? :)
That's a difficult one! I myself use the K100 and love it but the Everest Max is certainly no slouch. Being cost effective I'd be inclined to choose the Everest Max as you get everything, including all the addons and hot-swappable switches. It's just the slight connection issues I ran into that sadly knock a couple of points off, for me at least.
@@KitGuruTech still tempted but tough call. If the Everest had the superior Keycaps as the k100 does it would be a no brainer I think for me. Need to think about it more.. Haha.. Thanks for the awesome review
What profile are the keycaps? They must not be the Cherry profile, since the Cherry profile would interference with switches mounted to have North facing LED slots
Keyboard stop typing after 2 days of use and no one from support contacted me theres no instructions on how to get it to typing. I have tried EVERYTHING I could think of from updating firmware to restarting everything. I feel I lost 300$ for nothing. All I see online is how much everyone loves this keyboard. For now this keyboard is colorful paper weight. I will never spend 300$ on a keyboard again from this point forward only 19$ keyboards.

Nothing there that can't be sorted. Impressive debut from Mountain. 9/10 for the review.
small clarification - the USB port on the Everest is a USB hub, not a passthrough.

@@eleven9286 I believe it’s that you can transfer data and stuff through the hub but not a pass through so a hub is way better than a pass through
Fantastic review!!! You did a stupendous job mate, A+++!
This keyboard kit looks WELL worth the price!
Glad you enjoyed the review! It was certainly fun to test this one out.

Mine arrived last week and the wobbling key is updated. feels good now

Its not modeled off corsair. This was in development before corsair came out with all there stuff.
it's a similar idea - that's what we're getting at

@@tvmb2092 ya I ordered one as well. I'm still waiting on my but I ordered blue switches and they haven't shipped blues out yet.

how long do you have to wait after the pre order?
as some one told .. this keyboard have more usb C then hole Logitech lineup of keyboards and mouses together :D
Hardware canucks lol

But which is better the k100 or the everest max ?
can the unused usb-c ports be used as pass throughs by other usb-c devices?
yes
Hello,
Would you recommend this keyboard over the Apex pro/Apex 5 from steelseries?
Does the media dock wheel get wobbly over time like razor huntsman elite? I have it and volume scrolling doesn't work properly or at all.
did you end up buying it?

How you deal with spring noise on K100?

Great in deth review. You can get the keyboard now with the Makalu 67 Mouse + Nunatak XL Mousepad for price of only the keyboard!
please put white keycaps on it
Great overall review.. However the quality control of this keyboard does not match its cost..
Oh okay. Thank you for the clarification.
I have this keyboard, it's epik
Finally you can throw Corsair K100 and crappy iCue to the trash.
It can't show gif, I would buy if it could.
I wonder at what point consumers will say "No!". This will be $600 is Australia. That's ludicrous.
this is 1300 lei in romania
Keyboards are just way to expensive now.
there are mechanical keyboards for 30 USD, which are totally fine. These expensive ones are for rich people :)
Will happily stick with a £15 Tesco one instead.
“What can’t this do” “ fix my parents marriage “
It still won't beat my G13.
lol, £230

If ya still have it... Could you hop onto their discord? (accessible via the button in basecamp/on the website). Issa faster way to get that fixed
Has your Keyboard been fixed in the meantime, or could you send us a DM on social media with your order number so we can look into this for you?
Uhg, Cherry MX switches are trash.
EWW!! those hands are just gross to look.
