When I do my mini twists I never them in for months at a time. I keep them in 2-3 weeks at a time. Before I wash my hair, I take my twist out and throughly detangle each twist one by one. I dont care how long it takes. The same way I took my time to put them in is the same way I take my time to take them out. No matting over here, we are NOT doing that. Those games are not to be played lol

Imma keep doing my twist because any style you leave in for more than a month WILL lock your hair up. I've seen it and I've experienced it, so me personally, my scalp can't handle being not washed for 2 weeks and that's when i usually take down my twists anyway 🤷🏿‍♀️. I agree with you on the wash and go point somwhat but i don't understand how you can say wash n go's are lazy when so many women take hours shingling and defining their hair. If all women were doing was using a bit of gel in their hair and calling it a day, i would agree, but doing styles in general and leaving it in for more than a month is being lazy and will lock your hair up. And I'm not going to use extensions because i don't need tension, i do believe using extensions will result in less matted hair but it will also result in traction alopecia for alot of people. And on top of that people are saying synthetic hair is causing cancer now, true or not, no thank you.
I do want to say, you did make a lot of good points though, this is just my stance on the issue

@@Joan-jr8qsI never thought of it that way, you do make a good point, I guess you can also say that about using heat, no matter how careful and responsible you are. In the end it’s all manipulation of hair one way or another. Even braids with added hair and extensions in general can go in this category, cuz eventually, all that relentless tension in your follicles can also cause traction alopecia in the long run. I think the biggest takeaways I’ve gotten from Cyn’s videos is that too much of anything isn’t really good, leave your hair/scalp as cleans and alone as much as possible, and overall less is more. As Cyn always says “think for yourself” so if something she says doesn’t resonate, stick to what you know best

When i was 25 (im 35 y/o now), i used to work for a luxury salon. The majority of the stylists were white. I wanted to grow my hair out so bad, and they told me the harsh truth, what i was using, wasn't going to support my desires for long hair. They were very honest and told me that although they could not help me style my hair, they knew what worked to grow hair. So, i took their advice. I left the oils, butters, and heavy products behind, and i became using salon quaitly products only! My hair has grown to lengths i could've never imagined. Every now and then, i would listen to the natural hair community and mannnnn, it got me in trouble each and every single time and the stylists were always so helpful to get my hair back on track. Now? I dont fall for the natural hair community bs. I follow science. I am forever grateful for those women who helped me.

Okay! For me? I stopped doing a lot of that stuff because my body was reacting. For instance too much water in my ears was causing my ears to create more than usual ear wax. Another thing! I don’t think it’s good for my fingertips to be wet that much for so long, the pruning effect is uncomfortable. I also noticed that my hair pretty much performs the same whether I apply a product or not as long as I brush or comb oil onto the strands (not on my scalp). I "twist" my hair weekly to biweekly on regular blown out hair. Just 8 of them though. I don't add any extra water based products, my hair stays moisturized from wash day till the next time I wash it. I also retwist if I feel like it.
This is the best way to twist the hair in my opinion. The twists are loose enough to unravel on their own so locking could never occur. I don't consider them a protective style it's just a style to me.
Thanks for spreading this info, because it's too much misinformation out there.

    Hi Cyn!
This may have been previously asked on another video, but is it safer to use a foam on wet hair for flat twist and sit under hooded dryer?
Not as a protective style, but as a twist out style.
My mom used to style my hair this way back in the day. But I’ve been confused about what to do and what not to do for my daughters’ hair.
Just want to make the right decision on what’s best for their hair.
I normally just wash, condition, leave-in, blow dry and style with Kenra or Olaplex products.

Love, why do you want to make up new ways to dry your hair. Either blow out or do a rod set of some kind to set the bonds properly it’s very simple. My channel is not for people who like wash n gos. Do your thing but as a professional I believe in setting bonds. You can use a blow dryer or a rods set but anything you do should allow you to comb and brush your hair with ease as you style. You don’t do wet styling unless you’re setting the bonds with foam, or blowing it out. Anything else is starting the matting process. If you let your hair air dry because you’re chasing a vanity metric it does more harm than good. You can’t undo the twist or comb your hair without breakage when you air dry. Do you thing but there are no short cuts or hacks. Hair is very simple.
