It really is crazy bc my scalp used to ALWAYS burn from perms. Scabs all over 😩🥴🥴 I transitioned once I went to college as well and never looked back. My mom always said she’d never go natural. In 2020 she chopped her BSL permed hair off to a a almost a fade and been natural since. She actually mentioned to me this yr how she’s grateful that she listen to me about natural hair and says she now understand why I be taking hrs to do my hair 😂😂 but she almost made me cry when she said that listening to me and going natural has seriously improved her HEALTH 🥹🥹🥹 no one understands how perms play apart in health problems as well.

Mentioning health problems, I've worked in medical school in the Neurology dept for about 3 years now. There's a very mean and vicious version of MS called NMO, where lesions appear in the brain and spine. Unfortunately, black women make up the highest demographic for having this disease. I remember asking a doctor why this was, and he just gave some condescending answer about x and y Chromosomes. But I have a theory that becuase black women put chemicals on their head, that's got to be doing something terrible to the brain. It's either that, or we're low on vitamin D, we're under stress a lot (especially becuase we're the backbone of the family), and we have inflammation. Also the point was made about how is it that we put on gloves when handling perms but don't care that that stuff is touching is scalp? Doesn't add up. I have never put another perm in my hair since mid 2015. Not worth it.

I am glad you mentioned genetics for your fast hair growth. With your great results so many would already start by selling their magic hair oils and unfortunately many would fall for it.
As you said your health is the reason you could reach your hair growth genetic potential and the time you took to learn techniques, products, styling is the reason you could retain all the growth your gentics gave you.
Reaching our full hair genetic potential will look different for everyone whether it is full waist length, arm pit length or bra strap length in 5 years. But in all cases it will be healthy longer natural hair that we've learned to manage and properly care for and that's what matter the most.
Your hair journey and videos are very inspirational. Thanks for sharing.

Hi. Your hair is beautiful. Genetics just simply mean more sebum production in the scalp. The more Sebum travel downs the hair shaft, the longer your hair grows, because it strengthens and naturally moisturizer your hair. No product is Really needed. Just Scalp Massages with some oils, Non-comedogenic oils. Mielle and all the products you mention are great. I am High Porosity.. I just mainly use Vegan Shampoo and Deep conditioner Leave in, oil and a butter and twist or keep my hair braided. Great Video. God Bless.❤❤

I use to condition my hair before I put a relaxer in. And I never burn my own scalp I use to go to the salon and they use to burn my scalp and I got tired of it so I began relaxing my own hair. I started perming my hair and now I stopped over 2 years

    • @lisamedla

@@moneishawilson4875 I bet Roothie will respond, allow me to pitch in as a fellow Hi Po girlie.
You'll hear a lot of advice. But first and more importantly learn what your hair likes and watch your scalp health. It's no use having good hair if your scalp is inflammed. It could be the cause of thinning edges.
Another thing because hi po hair dries fast, you may have problems with styles that pull your hair back. They can cause tension damage. If it's your jam find styles that allow it to be loose. Stuff like twists and braids if it makes you feel good.
The advantage is whatever method works for hi po hair in 1a to 4c is the same. You just might need to change the product.
Last, learn about protein mosture balance or your hair will split up the shaft. All the best. Oh we have the funnest hair to style if you're not into protective styles😉
If you love the nerdy side of hair Curly Chemistry has good content. There a white girl too but I forget her channel name

Things don't work like that. Look up for videos talking about genetics and hair growth and you'll understand how it doesn't take a huge role in hair growth. Genetics determine how fast your hair will grow, the porosity, density... but it will never determine how long your hair will be able to grow. If your hair "doesn't grow" it means that your hair is breaking as fast as it grow.

@@ibyou5062 I agree. It is about keeping the retention and not breaking it off. Find out what's causing the breakage and figure out what you need to do to stop it.
