  • In this video I will show you how to remove the precat on your 2.5 TDI A4 or A6 and should you wish how to convert a cat to a decat.
Note - please check your emissions rules/regulations in your location before carrying this out.
Decating can help turbo spool and few up a few BHP which is ideal for track use.

Starting an engine and revving the shit out of it straight away, nice one.....

If you take the turbo off & shorten the studs where it mounts to the cat then if you have to remove it again it will be easier. The studs only need to protrude a small amount after they're tightened.

Hi mate, Where is the Egr? It seems you have taken it out before you removed the Cat? How did you do that? I'm trying to take it out but there are 2 bolts from the bottom up that I cant seem to get to due to limited room. Cheers

So removing this gives actualy more power and better noise? My turbo seems to be a bit tired, what is the best turbo for exchange or should i just change the thin metal parts and regain power from the turbo?

Putting a big cavity in the exhaust system adds turbulence and reduces flow efficiency.
Better to cut the CAT apart and weld in a equal diameter pipe or install a new downpipe, then you can swap the CAT back in for MOT inspections.

And better yet how did you get two hands in there? Man I’ve been at it for a while now and can’t crack the bottom 3 cat bolts. There on there real good. Barely get one hand at a time in there, not sure how to get the other one in, no room anywhere to squeeze it in

I use straight pipes on diesel for over 2 decades now. Only thing I dislike about them is strong smell of unburnt hot fuel. You can get used to it. But yeah, it smells.
