These pincushions are in the shop
ALL SOLD OUT!
I made this pincushion because someone asked me to! Then I made 14 more because ... well, its sort of addictive. They are easy to make, I hope you try, just take care of the accuracy.
If you notice at the very start, my accuracy is not that great but! great news! the button covers up that little discrepancy!
I hope you make one. But if sewing is not your thing - nip over to the shop and snag yourself one of mine!
The first few orders will get a wheel of glass headed pins and one of my Mum's wrist pincushions - until I run out of them! (we saw them in the Big Drawer Tidy Series!)
Thank you for watching!
Thank you too all my Patrons! - Фільми й анімація
Hi Kate, really enjoyed your video with Chris. Having lived in Huddersfield for a number of years, lived there when worsted manufacturing was at its height and worked in the industry myself as a worsted mender. Sadly a trade that dwindle in the 80s. So listening to you and Chris talking about fabric, then all the worsted colours and patterns that I remember would make a wonderful addition to a quilt.
You are such a delight to watch. You are so inspiring!
Norma AND a button banana! Great video!
I'm learning so much from you Katie. You have so many clever ideas. Have a very happy day ❤️
Love the pincushion! I enjoy your videos it's like sitting with you having a nice conversation.
A banana full of buttons! Words I wasn't expecting to hear🤣 And of course it was the perfect button!
👍😄💙
Wow, the pincushions sold out the same day! I am not surprised, I hurried there myself. That will teach me to be quicker! The magic banana holds a lovely assortment of buttons!
no-one was more surprised than me! wow! I will make more when I feel inclined! but you could try - its not too hard??? xxxxx yes - the banana - I will tell the person who gave out to me about all the love that banana is receiving! ha ha!!! xxx
@@thelasthomelyhouse I Will make my own pincushion...AFTER I finish my dog! My Kate workbasket is growing. Last night I watched your Advent calendar workshop and at 2:00 in the morning ordered my crimper! (Mine will become an Easter project!) I had to laugh, everything I do also tends to become an assembly line project. This past Christmas, I made 100 large gingerbread man to use as tree ornaments. Complete with icing features and raisins for eyes, Kids love to decapitate them with one bite.
I heard you say a few times that you like to watch movies. My favorite film of all time is Babette's Feast. It is a foreign film dubbed in English and is made from one of Isak Dinisen's wonderful short stories. I PROMISE you will love it! It is great to watch on a rainy day when you are housebound, Make yourself a pot of tea, wrap yourself yourself up in an afghan and prepare to be swept away.
Good morning Kate. How delightful to have my morning coffee with you. Love the pin cushion and the button on the back idea as well. The block is on my to-do list today. Thank you!
lol! a banana button holder, that's a good way to know where one's buttons are. Thanks for sharing this fun project.
It’s me Pennsylvania USA
So sweet!
These are wonderful pin cushions out of scraps of fabric for the Operation Christmas Child we do at church.... thanks Kate for such a great idea, I usually make little needle books for the older girls, but now I can make a home made pin cushion to put with them.... thank you so much for all the wonderful ideas you share...keep them coming!!!
yes - a perfect little gift and if you make many and chain piece each stage ... well you can crank them out all day!!! xxxx (take a break now and then!!) ha ha! xxx
The banana button sleeve made me laugh outloud! Such a great block for scraps. I loved the colorful pile of pin cushions. Smile worthy! :)Thank you!!
a gift from an antipodean friend! I shall tell her how much liked her banana is! xxxx
@@thelasthomelyhouse please can you tell us where your friend got it from. i love wacky things like that.

Love, love, love the buttons!
😘 💕💕💕
Love the pincushion and the zippered banana takes the cake!
Great job Kate. Your block looks A-👌 🥰😍 Really pretty pin cushion.
They look fabulous. Thank you so much for the lesson. By the way, just want to say how much I love the Yorkshire colloquialisms heard in some of your videos….such as hiya (hello), skew whiff (lopsided) etc.... I am from Yorkshire have lived in Canada for the past 42 years.... Here, when I talk in my 'native' tongue, nobody knows what I am talking about...resulting in some peculiar looks......ha ha ha. I feel like I'm back at home watching your fabulous podcasts. Keep doing what you're doing Kate.
I am in fact from Lancashire, but we won't relive the war of the Roses here - ha ha!! I think a lot of those sayings crossed the Pennines, back and forth. Canada! wow! That was a big move for you! xxx
Hi Kate. Just a suggestion-an idea I picked up from Laura at SewVeryEasy: glue a button somewhere on your pincushion to put your needles in. Makes them easy to find👍🏻😊
a great tip! I like it! xxx
Adore the banana and yes, the button is spot on. No pun intended I promise🙂. Thank you Kate for keeping my mind occupied on a night of 24* and with burning feet, health issue not sun burn. Cold water bottle and wet flannel on neck are my stitching companions despite it being 00.21.
Kate
I love to watch you and i absolutely love your accent. You are such a pleasant person to watch and you have the greatest ideas to follow.
For a lady that doesn't like fussy measurements, you have a way with this tricky design. Many possibilities with this too. Icy weather here. I like a new project to be snowbound. THXS
Sometimes plan, sometimes wing it .... one of my mottos! xxx
@@thelasthomelyhouse Someone is working too hard. So glad warm weather is on the horizon so that the someone will be able to get out
Oh, it looks like a little sailboat after the second cut! And the banana bag is fun too!
I been subscribed to your channel for a little while but I started at the beginning and have now caught up with present day. I must say I love watching you and all you do. I do a lot of the things you do but not nearly as well, apart from the chickens. Don’t have chickens, a cat yes but no chickens. Looking forward to the next part of the journal making.
Well, hello and thank you - if you really look, you'll see I'm no better than you or anyone, I just like to have a go! I can be quite slapdash sometimes - but there are times when accuracy pays off - Journal pages coming this saturday 2nd xxx thanks for hanging out here with me! xxx
Lovely pin cushion Kate. I have buttons my dear mother passed to me and I also save zippers.....my grandmother and mother taught me the importance of waste not want not. I miss them both. xxx
Missing my mom, she would have been 89 yesterday. My sisters and I had a virtual cup of tea while texting memories.
Oh my goodness! Your comment brought back so many memories of my folks! I still remove buttons when garments get ‘too far gone’, and zippers as well! I have so much ‘reclaimed’ material, and bits and pieces! It’s such fun to use ‘pre-loved’ items. I too was brought up to be careful, and at 60+ am still practicing it!
All my kids in my 4-H sewing can make one of these! Thank You
Not sure why, but I love things that are tufted....😁😁😁
Hermoso quedó!! Muchas gracias. Dios la bendiga. Muy bien explicado.
Good morning. You're waking me up as I prepare for work 😞
Awesome!
That’s adorable !!!

Hola kate, recien te descubri me encanta tus enseñanzas y lo que inspiras, aunque se muy poco ingles me ayudo con el traductor. Me gusta todo lo que haces y esa paz que trasmites, eres una gran compañia. Gracias y bendiciones
Yes! That was a fantastic button and pincushion. Thanks for showing us how to make one.
These are so clever... I really like these not to mention now I know what all those little cut off corners are about. 😉
aha! now you know! xxx ha ha!! xxx
Love the Banana! 🤣
Cute pincushions...not to mention your banana filled with buttons. Great idea and so easy to make, thanks Kate xx
button is perfect and thanks for the tutorial.....I have been working on pin cushions to hopefully help regain my muse.......
Cute! Purchased two strong magnets disks (to stack/1&1/2" diameter) to hold all the utensils I keep close while sewing/attached to the sewing shelf immediately to the right of the sewing machine:
--Tweezers (pull threads)
--Mini Screw Driver (change in & out needles & feet)
--Seam Riipper
--Other metal sewing impliments
Items I use again and again as I sew. And this looks to be the perfect base in which to cover/hide the magets!
Thanks, for the idea, Kate!
Lovely and fun!
I’ve learned a sweet pattern & how to make a darling pin cushion! Thank you for sharing your wonderful shills, patience, & lovely self - and your kitty! See you again soon.
Gorgeous Kate! That's why a sewing machine is high on my wishlist. 😉 To create little beautiful things. 😉 xxxx💕
Are you located anywhere near Columbus, OH,? Let me know if you are as I have extra machines and will give you one.
she is in Holland! but what a lovely gesture! xxx
@@Cdees57 You are one amazing person to make such an incredible offer but I live in the Netherlands. But thank you very much for being so kind to offer me this. 💕
I like the pin cushion on your wooden thread holder. I like to see how it was made.
Recently found your channel. Such beautiful handiwork. Sometimes it seems you’re a great friend in the room. Stay well. Thank you for sharing your expertise and wisdom.
Love this adorable pincushion. I am definitely going to make one. Need to borrow that brutal needle. Haha
That banana button keeper is such a hoot. Love it 😍
I purchased a 1/4 inch foot. What a wonderful thing.
Hello lovely Kate thank you so much for these tutorials , I just so happened to buy my first fat quarters today. Yaaaaay me. So grateful for you videos. Oh btw Ollie didn't find our marbles. 😄
Keep Looking!!!! important! ha ha!! xxx
So gorgeous! I think I need to look at getting a roller cutter and quilting ruler, it really changes how you make things.
it DOES! The three items - mat/cutter/ruler (though you won't be content with just one!!!) game changer! xxx
I have a big mat for my paper crafts so that part is sorted 😊
I love watching you sew! That might be a nice coaster, too!
I think that I’ll mirror image that block into a potholder, thanks for sharing 👍
that is a wonderful idea
Wow! You are inching toward 15,000 subscribers! Hooray.
That is a very sweet pincushion. The added detail of the little bottom button is genious. As a side note, watching your past videos is making a very tedious stitch removal task much easier!
I live to serve! xxx ha ha!! xxx
Absolutely love it! I'd love to make some of these. Thank you for doing this tutorial.
Nerves of steel, Kate! Using scissors to push out the corners when turning your pincushion! I use the round-y end of a smallish paintbrush so it won't poke a hole in my fabric. Love the pinc...
Or, a take out chopstick. You'll have a spare to share 😉 as well.
ha ha!! Living dangerously! xxx
So cute! Thank you for sharing this lovely pincushion 🙂
Just tried one this morning and had to do another and another! Ideal for using up all those bits of fabric. Thank you.
Hallo Kate...what a lovely pincushions….i have to have lots of them…...because i leave them everywhere in the house.....i am sure going to make at least 2 of these..yours are lovely….and that button...spot on......and i am sewing on a second epp dog again….so you keep me busy and i love it......thank you….xo 😊🌷❣
Great tutorial! Thank you 🌸
Wonderful.. I love your videos. Will make block tomorrow. Thanks
OHH, can I come visit and watch you sew? My stress levels reduce watching and listening to you. Love the thread catcher tip, it would prevent me from pulling on those threads before I set the seam. Here Kitty, Kitty, Kitty. Wonderful wool stuffing. Tiny button on the reverse very good idea. It will prevent the thread from popping thru the fabric I would imagine. Also looks adorable. Just saw in a comment below that your kitty is named Norma. I had a cat named Norman.
Pin cushions are so cute.
Somehow I'm not surprised that you had the absolutely perfect button. LOL! That was a fast and easy tutorial, thank you! And Norma making an appearance was the icing on the cake. :)
Oh how cute. Loved the button how it matched the fabric. Those
will be fun to make. Great video👍
Love it Kate.. and I have to do a pincushion for a swap, so perfect timing :D
Love how you teach us! Thank you so much!❤️
Perfect button Kate! 💗
Lovely! I will make one today! Looking for a little Auxiliary gift. This is perfect Kate. Thank you!
I made two of these, the directions are spot on! So cute!
The pin cushions are beautiful. I have just made a wrist pin cushion like the ones your Mum used to make. Mine didn't turn out as round but it works. It's a beautiful day here in South Carolina, been outside all morning and now that I've rested I'm going back out.
LOVE this vid!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️. Sew fun to watch. I tell ya, though, I was working very hard to help pull that thread tight! Lol. You’re a treasure, Kate! Beautiful Pincushions!! Nice camera work!
Lovely!! Thank you!!
Thanks Can - I filled the next ones a tiny bit less and the pulling worked perfectly! you need strong thread though!!! xxx
That was great fun. I will be trying this soon. Hubs is helping me ,lol, make raised beds in our back yard. I direct , he builds. Getting potatoes barrels ready to plant. Weatherman says one more winter blast this next week. Think I will wait to plant. Button was just perfect. Have a wonderful day.
Hi Kate, a really beautiful pincushion! Love the pattern and the high contrast of the chosen fabrics. The button fits perfectly and I love all the bright colors. All the best from Germany, Stephanie
I hope you have a try! its not hard!! xxx
Great patchwork instructions..... So much patience to cut / sew / cut sew etc .....
I made some similar fat little cushions filled with lavender... But no patchwork . Maybe next time I'll try the technique . Thanks .
they would make lovely lavender bags in the right colours and no button - great idea! xxx
Thanks Kate. I just might have to make one :-)
oh - go on! xxx
How adorable 🎉😊❤
I am going to make one. Thank you for sharing your talents!
That is so cute! I may just dig out my sewing machine!
What an adorable pin cushion! And you make it look so easy!,
That button is perfect and the purple argyle is just asking to be used also.
Love them, just purchased 1 🤗 xxx
Thank you! I sold them all! I will make more when the mood takes me! enjoy yours! and thank you xxx
Thank you so much Kate, the pin cushion is just adorable and the little spotty notecards are awesome 🤗 I’m following your tutorial for the journal and I’m going to add a special pocket to 1 of the pages so the noteletts can live in the journal safe & sound. It will have to be something spectacular for me to write in them as they are just so cute and I don’t want to ruin them 😂. Xxxx
The pincushion is adorable - as soon as I finish making an apron for my dish detergent bottle, I will make myself one of these lovely pincushions... thanks for sharing!
Dale from Canada
an apron for your dish detergent bottle .... we really do cover EVERYTHING with fabric don't we! xxx
I am a new subscriber and I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying your videos. Thank you for the tutorial. I love spot fabrics! I do believe we have the same sewing machine. I have had mine for 14 years and its still going brilliantly and I use it a lot to make quilts.
welcome! That is a great little machine! I think maybe 5 years for me and the recent service has made it like new! xxx
Adorable.
If I don't die from this cold, I will try it. I need too see if my Janome comes with that foot.
its a separate purchase but worth it! xxx
the pin cushion is a great idea but, I have tons of scraps. haha looks like a baby quilt is on the agenda. gives me something to do on this brutally cold and windy day here on the farm in Maine.
they would make a terrific quilt! xxx
Soo adorable!!! Love it so much! They sold out quickly.
I know!! what a surprise! I'll make more when I'm in the right mood! xxx
I know , Im viewing out of order, but saw this little pincushion and just had to have a quick look. So sweet. Love this "cute as a button" cushion.🍭🍡🍥
Made a pin cushion this evening. June 19th A pleasant break from hand stitching the stripy binding of the 100 stars quilt. Thanks Kate. Very cute
One strip is off. Very nice gift.
Agustin Torres yes, but the button covers it.
I think I will sew across each corner before turning inside out to stabilize.
LOve your pin cushions...I will be making some of these for sure. Thank you for sharing. x
You make this seam so easy. I love the way you explain how to make everything you make. I'm hooked on your channel. God Bless!
